"Somethin' Stupid" is a really old song recorded by quite a few artists already and here we have the most known, or at least the most known modern version performed by Robbie Williams with actress Nicole Kidman. This was included on Williams' swing album almost 20 years ago, maybe already 20 depending on when you read the review. Looking at how great Frank Sinatra's rendition is, it would be unfair to compare Williams to him. I think he is still pretty amazing and I can see why he was such a huge star back then and why this song was a really big hit here in Europe toppping the UK charts among others. As for Kidman, she's not worse than Nancy, maybe even better. I compare it to the version of the Sinatras, not the lesser known original which is even older because I don't like the performance there that much, which is a bit ironic as these two there were a coiple unlike the Sinatras and Robbie and Nicole. Anyway, this is also a song where it is better to listen to the record just. The video has some Christmas spirit attached to it for sure and it's not bad or anything, but to me it was a bit too suggestive and took away from the song's mellowness with several sexual implications and Kidman always taking stuff into her mouth. Now I remember why I did not like her as an actress back then, even if she has grown on me a bit. Now back to this one, amazing song, really good rendition, but the video is "only" okay and as we are on a movie site here, that's what it all comes down to. I think you should watch it or at the very least listen to the song. Thumbs up from me.
