After the horror show that was the commentary episode, I found this episode to have a good plot, funny jokes and overall be one of the best season 17 episodes

A Pleasant Surprise

After last week's surreal catastrophe I am pleasantly surprised to see a decent and funny episode. Most of it worked really well. Shows that involve the friendship between Stewie and Brian are usually pretty good.
By the way....I'm always amused by people who say that they're going to stop watching Family Guy.
Anyone who cares enough about a cartoon to write reviews of it on IMDB isn't going to stop watching it anytime soon. Why even bother announcing it?
Anyway, I hope we get more good shows like this one.
Cheers!

Warning: Spoilers
I will always laugh at any dog-related humor and we got a lot of it here with Brian getting stuck in a box and loving garbage. Unfortunately, there was not a lot to love about this episode outside of that.
Way too much Lois, and the Quagmire story just felt so repetitive at this point.

Warning: Spoilers
Peter throws out Stewie's tricycle after he cleans out the garage, so Stewie desperately goes to search for it, with the aid of Brian. Meanwhile, Quagmire discovers his dating game is limited to younger women, that he doesn't know how to attract the middleage crowd, so he takes help from Lois.
Wow! Talk about picking yourself back up. This is just what I wanted, a solid story full of laughs and good character interaction. Brian rolling around in the garbage was adorable and hilarious at the same time. I especially loved when he got his head stuck in the carton box. The writers seem to realize making him act like a dog actually makes him more likable. I also liked when he got along with the people living on the island, and he pretty much turns into a lazy partier. Stewie explaining pop culture events to them and growing increasingly frustrated when he has to point out the "obvious" things they have missed made me chuckle. I'll admit, the plot was a little more thin than I expected, as Stewie and Brian don't really do much when they arrive to the island, but the dialogue and humor is strong enough to make up for it. Stewie's gesture at the end where he reached a compromise when he didn't want to be without Brian was sweet.
The subplot has its share of fun too. Quagmire being unsure how to talk to his date at a dinner (such as bringing up Ida for no reason), the unexpectedly funny It parody and the waiter running after him after he forgot to pay for the bread were some of the funniest moments for me. The latter especially made me laugh so hard I couldn't breathe. It felt like a perfectly weird joke straight out of American Dad.
That being said, it seems to take a big leap in logic at the end. Lois has known Quagmire for so long I thought she knew what she was doing, but apparently she's surprised he used her info to have as much sex as possible. Really? How is that shocking? He's pretty much the town pervert, you even had an intervention with him all the way back in season 4 when he spied on you in the bathroom. Just doesn't make any sense. But the punchline with Quagmire seemingly apologizing at first only to take advantage of her knowledge even more was a clever enough subversion for me to forgive this flaw a bit. Additionally, the ending with Lois shopping was a bit unneccessary.
In short, Island Adventure works very well.

Hello, humour? ...hello?!

It's very bad when the only chuckle I got from this episode was the maitre d' demanding payment for bread.
That's it!
I have copies of the seasons going back beyond more than five years ago - when the show was comedy gold, and I think I'll just start watching those from time to time instead of these current *duds*!
Vapid!
Pull the plug, Seth.

I've given this rating only for that deaf kid joke.
