First must come the consumer warning. I read this digitally, which means flipping through the pages would have been more cumbersome than with a physical book, and I took the “152 pages” as an indication of the length of the story.
Reader, I was misled.
Only the End of the World Again is a 48-page story, bulked out by an sketchbook section exactly twice its size that shows the thumbnail layouts and un-lettered final inks for each page side-by-side, presumably for fans of art to take a magnifying glass to them and make various low appreciative noises in the back of their throats for the next several hours. I did not do so; that’s not how I read books.
If you do want to spend several hours with those earlier versions of the same story, though, this may well be a positive for you. It takes all kinds to make a world,...

Wonder Woman's solo outing on the big screen is officially underway, as today Warner Bros. announced the start of production, revealing new cast members, and even a swanky new image of Gal Gadot ready for action. Come inside to check it all out!
Cast has been on the set of Wonder Woman for the past week or so, but today, Warner Bros. has made it official with a press release announcing the start of principal photography. In doing so, they've revealed some new actors joining the cast (though sadly, no word on who they're playing). Warner Bros. has announced the commencement of production on director Patty Jenkins’ solo Wonder Woman movie with a press release detailing the new cast additions, as well as an image that gives us our first official look at Gal Gadot (in this movie, anyway) as Princess Diana herself.
The additional cast members include Robin Wright, Danny Huston and David Thewlis – though the characters they’ll be playing are being kept under wraps for now. Nicole Kidman was said to be in talks to play another Amazonian warrior believed to be Diana’s mother, Hippolyta, but there’s no mention of her here. Perhaps that’s being saved for a separate announcement, or talks simply fell through and Robin Wright is now playing that role?
Regardless, you can check out the full press release, along with the first official Wonder Woman still, below:

Tuesdays are when new books are typically released, and horror fans usually don’t have too much trouble finding something to read. There is Amazon of course and publishers like Samhain and Cemetery Dance…
We also boast authors ranging from "The King" himself to Dan Simmons, Robert McCammon, the late Thomas Tryon, Tim Curran, Aussies Stephen Irwin, Brett McBean, and Aaron Dries as well as Brits such as David Moody, anthologist Stephen Jones, and Mark Morris, to name just a very few.
But what if you long for the paperback originals which seemed to flood bookstores back in the 80s or want to read even earlier horror that is long out of print? What to do? Well, you turn to Valancourt Books to assuage those yearnings. And we recently spoke with Ryan Cagle, one half of the publishing team that brings those long unavailable titles to life for readers to enjoy again,...

Writing about Stephen King movies is always an interesting – if daunting – prospect. If one wanted to be a stickler about things, there are really only a few actual “Stephen King films”: from Creepshow to A Good Marriage, they’re listed under "Screenplays" on the “also by Stephen King” page at the front of most of the man’s books. But that’s limiting. Since Brian DePalma adapted Stephen King’s first novel, Carrie, for the big screen in 1976, the Stephen King Movie has been a genre unto itself, encompassing myriad directors, writers, mediums, and styles, all tied together by the fact that Stephen King wrote something that served as inspiration. Where the publishing history of Stephen King is fairly straightforward (with a few hiccups), the movie history is chaotic, because making movies is more complicated than making books. Deals are made, then broken. Screenplays are written and discarded. Budgets are cut,...

You’ve never heard a score quite like this. Director Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity is nothing akin to a sci-fi fantasy world, but rather depicts the stark realities of being marooned in the harshest environment known to mankind. It is a real game changer. Audiences will be given the illusion of being in space in ways that are both totally convincing and utterly visceral.
The film opened at #1, had a record setting $55 million opening weekend in the U.S. and is set for a November debut in the United Kingdom. Gravity premiered to critical acclaim at the Venice Film Festival with screenings also held at the Telluride Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival. The film will play this week among the highly anticipated Galas at the BFI London Film Festival.

Dr. Ryan Stone (Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalski (Clooney) in command. But on a seemingly routine mission, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalski completely alone—tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left.
But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

Gravity is a highly anticipated film for me. I’ve been hearing about the film for over a year and I’m a fan of Cuarón’s work. I’m also genuinely excited that his work is being talked about and he has the highest possible audience looking at him when this film releases. Children of Men was simply a masterpiece of sci-fi drama. Gravity seems like a simple premise but this also gives Cuarón a great advantage to inject his style and technical prowess into a film to make it extraordinary. Typically, I don’t like showing off clips of a film out of context but this single take scene just needs to be seen.
