You’ve got to love a show that gets stronger over time… or at least gets higher ratings, and since that’s exactly the case with Syfy‘s Haven, fans can relax for quite a while. The network has ordered 26 new episodes, and they will air as a split fifth season. 13 will air in the fall, and the remaining 13 will air sometime in 2015.
According to the announcement, it isn’t just ratings that are high on the network’s radar. Up on the social media chatter front, the show is clearly proving itself as one with loyal, and vocal, fans, and the network is paying attention to that.

Wow, dreams really Can come true! Not only has Syfy renewed our beloved Haven for another season, but it has put in a double order – yes, Twenty-six episodes of Haven coming our way! Am I concerned that this is supposed to be a “congratu-dolences” because it might be a final two seasons? Of course I am. Do I think that’s what it is? No I Do Not. Will I let any such concerns dampen my celebrations? No Way.

Haven Season 4 is coming to wrap itself around us in all its creepy mysterious gorgeous Nova Scotia-posing-as-New England goodness, and I am So Ready. They’ve even made it easy to remember the premiere date: Friday the 13th of next month.
I’m thrilled that Colin Ferguson (Eureka) is joining as a recurring guest star, and now we have news of two others. I hope they all fare better than last year’s recurring guest star. You know, the psychologist? Yowie.
With so many shows, new characters can be disruptive, but the casting in this series has always been impeccable, and seamless with the writing and the collective excellence of the show. And no matter how hard they try, and sometimes they do try, guest stars seem to never be able to permanently break up my favorite love/buddy triangle of Audrey, Nathan, and Duke.

Excellent, some Haven news! Production has begun for Season 4 of this absolutely terrific show, up in gorgeous Halifax. Everyone I’ve talked with who’s involved in the show’s production talks about the big part the location plays in the series, and I agree. We also have news that the star of another Syfy show that featured an “interesting” town will be joining the Haven community:
Yes Colin Ferguson, Eureka‘s Sheriff Jack Carter, will be showing up in our favorite creepy town. Here are the details, along with a head’s up about where we’ll be when the show returns:

Haven airs on Syfy in the Us and Showcase in Canada.
The supernatural drama series Haven has been renewed for a 13-episode fourth season to air in 2013, Showcase has announced.
Haven, is loosely based on the novella The Colorado Kid by Stephen King. The show is set in the titular seaside town which is supposed to be on the coast of Maine, although the series is filmed in Nova Scotia, Canada. Despite its picture postcard appearance, Haven has a turbulent history as a result of the so-called ‘troubles’ that afflict the local residents.

However, after befriending local cop Nathan Wournos (Lucas Bryant) and the roguish Duke Crocker (Eric Balfour) she joins the Haven Pd and investigates the town’s many secrets. Some of these have...

Those of us who know and love the very excellent Haven know that the town is a wee bit creepy. Previously it’s been the townspeople who have been slightly (or more than slightly) scary, but tonight we learn that even the buildings can have issues – or at least one special building can. In fact, the building used for the location shoot has a history of its own.

It wasn’t an incident-free shoot, by the way. In a recent interview, Eric Balfour told us that at one point “the ground underneath that house literally sucked my leg out from underneath me, threw me on the ground and then took out Emily with it.” Emily Rose agreed, and said that “we were really happy to get out of that house. It was creepy.” How cool is that?...

This new season of Haven is absolutely terrific; familiar yet fresh, just the way we like our favorite shows. We would absolutely hang out with – heck, we would date, if we were available and they were willing – any of the main characters of this show. Charming, intelligent, witty, perceptive, loyal, supportive, and each one of them an absolute biscuit. Yes, even the Teagues. There is just something about this town…

Some of the best news coming out of Syfy lately is the fact that Haven is returning for its third season on September 21, less than a month away. There is an atmosphere on the show, set in a small seaside town in Maine (no surprise, as it’s based on a novella by Stephen King), that combines with the exceptional cast chemistry and fantastically twisty plots to make it easily my favorite show on Syfy. You could say it has – sorry – an Edge.
Because it does. WWE superstar Edge (Adam Copeland) joined the show for a few guest appearances last season as Dwight, a “cleaner” of the aftermath of Troubled incidents, and now we hear from Syfy that he’ll be back for Season 3. It would be easy to suspect that this is stunt casting, but honestly, he’s a natural. The show has consistently excellent writing, but the actors still need to bring it,...

The mystery of Haven deepens week by week for Audrey Parker (Emily Rose).
The cast and crew of Showcase’s supernatural mystery series Haven are heading back to the coast of Nova Scotia for April 18, which has been announced as the official start date for production on Season 3 of the show
Loosely based on the novella The Colorado Kid by Stephen King, Haven follows former FBI agent Audrey Parker (Emily Rose). Parker becomes a cop in the small coastal town of Haven, Maine, and soon discovers the town’s many secrets, which hold the key to unlocking the mysteries of her past.
As supernatural series go, Haven is generally low key, but it’s appealing characters, intriguing mysteries and beautiful setting have helped to make it a deserved hit in this writer’s opinion.
The 13-episode third season of the show, which airs on Syfy in the U.S., will...

Q- You are the current Director of WGA's Showrunner Training Program at Writers Guild of America West. How many applicants did you have for this year?
A- We had over eighty applicants for about twenty five slots. The application process is a two step process. First applicants have to be recommended by current show runners or creative executives. Once they've been recommended, they fill out an application. I review the applications and we end up interviewing about fifty candidates. Out of those fifty candidates we invite approximately twenty five people to participate in the Program. This year's first session was on Saturday, January 14th and it (the program) ran for six consecutive Saturdays.
Q- How long has the Showrunner Training Program been in existence, and can you give the readers a background of its origins?

Every once in a blue moon, the stars align and something miraculous happens. In this case, Haven’s third season was announced simultaneously with its appearance at New York Comic-Con. It was perfect timing as it allowed fans to celebrate face-to-face with the cast and creators of Haven. So as Nycc embraced and showcased the supernatural sci-fi series for the first time, fans from around the globe raced to join in the festivities.
As limos arrived, fans streaked through the hallways, and security smiled as both the talent and fans strained to get a glimpse of each other, the air was filled with anticipation. This was not just a day to celebrate; it was a day to revel in the mutual love-fest from both sides of the entertainment spectrum. It is a curious symbiotic relationship, for entertainment needs both talent and an appreciative audience. The most gifted writer or performer...

White Horse Theater Company Tennessee Williams: Suddenly Last Summer Hudson Guild Theater September 16 - October 2, 2011
Suddenly Last Summer is considered to be Tennessee Williams's most poetic play. Williams's carefully crafted words are heard primarily in two long monologues within the play, around which the action takes place. The 1959 film version is a staple of Turner Classic Movies, and I was curious to attend a version based on the original stage script, apparently mounted in honor of the hundredth anniversary of Williams's birth.
The story, for those who have been watching American Idol, The Hills, and Dancing with the Stars, concerns a New Orleans dowager, Mrs. Venable. She is attempting to use her wealth to manipulate both her poor relations and a doctor (who is researching a radical surgical approach to mental illness) into lobotomizing her niece by marriage. The niece, Katherine, has been hospitalized in an hysterical state...

I hope you're a fan of Haven, the Syfy original about an unusual Maine town afflicted by increasingly wild and crazy events. This Friday, the show is kicking off something very special, incorporating Twitter into the show in a way that has never been attempted before. Built into the storyline on the show, and then played out on Twitter itself, this is a coupling of formats that is truly unique.

Syfy’s popular series Haven will become the first television series to create a storyline that flows between the show itself and the micro-blogging service Twitter when it launches a special seven-episode arc beginning Friday, August 12, at 10Pm (Et/Pt).

Smuggler-with-a-heart-of-gold Duke is one of the best parts of one of my favorite shows, Haven. Eric Balfour was kind enough to take time out from the current shooting schedule to speak with the media about the second season, which premieres this Friday, July 15 at 10/9c on Syfy.
Pazsaz Entertainment Network asked him how the cast dynamics have changed as the show has progressed, and what he enjoys about playing Duke:
Eric Balfour: Well last season, we – me and Lucas – have had a history together… We worked on the show before and we have a really good rapport. And Emily and Lucas had worked before together, but we hadn’t all worked, the three of us together. And we really became friends last year. And this season we really have learned to look after each other and support each other. And it really is a really tight bond.

WWE fans, another WWE Superstar will be lending their talent to a Syfy show. Joining the ranks of Cody Rhodes who guest starred on Warehouse 13 this past fall, Edge aka Adam Copeland will be guest starring on Syfy’s Haven in its upcoming new season this summer.
This won’t be Copeland’s first involvement with the sci-fi/fantasy genre. He had a small part in Highlander: Endgame in 2000 and will also guest star in the final episode of the third season of Amanda Tapping‘s Sanctuary.
In Haven, Edge will play Dwight Hendrickson, “a shrewd, longtime Haven resident” with connections to Nathan’s late father and Haven’s ‘troubled’ past. Check out the full press release below:

May Sweeps are over. Jack Shephard’s eye closed for the last time, the Glee kids concluded their first season’s journey, and Grey’s Anatomy took out a chunk of its bloated cast with a crazed gunman. It’s been a hell of a finale season, but what do we do now? Well, you could hit the beach, or pick up a book, but for those of us more inclined to stay on the couch, summer is no longer just for reruns. If you’re missing any recently departed favorites, summer shows, both new and returning, may provide a good substitute.

SyFy has released a trailer for the up coming series "Haven", based on The Colorado Kid written by Stephen King. Word has it that King has nothing to do with the series and it is more 'in the flavor' of King than actually influenced by any of the horror icon's texts. That said, it looks like some of the writing team from The Dead Zone is involved, and I was a fan of Dead Zone – so not giving up hope here. Here is the trailer and some details from SyFy.

Several comments along the lines of "Haven seems to have absolutely nothing to do with the Stephen King novel (The Colorado Kid) on which it's based" got us wondering about the upcoming Syfy series. Luckily, thanks to the magic of Twitter, the show's co-writer, Sam Ernst, has cleared things up a bit.
According to Ernst, who is scripting the series along with his partner Jim Dunn, "We basically absorbed the whole book and then added a supernatural storyline and back story for the characters."
He also added, "Stephen King read the supernatural storyline we added and the mythology and emailed us: 'sounds like a blast!' Then Jim and I drank."
Adam Kane ("The Mentalist," "Heroes") is at the directorial helm for the series' pilot episode for the Syfy Channel and Showcase Television in Canada. Emily Rose, Lucas Bryant, Eric Balfour, Richard Donat, and John Dunsworth all star.

I’m not sure if we ever get tired of Stephen King adaptations. When you have an author whose creative output is so substantial, producers are going to want to mine that talent until there’s no more projects to adapt.
The latest in the long line of King adaptations is the upcoming Syfy pilot for the supernatural series Haven, which will be directed by Adam Kane according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Kane’s previous work in television includes episodes of Heroes, Supernatural, The Mentalist, and the sadly missed Pushing Daisies.
Syfy announced last November that Haven had been ordered to a 13-episode first season. The thriller is based on the King novella, The Colorado Kid, which deals with an eerie Maine town where the cursed live normal lives in exile. When the curses begin to return, an FBI agent is brought in to fight those supernatural forces while struggling to understand the mysterious town.

SyFy will be launching a 13 episode series titled "Haven", based on the Stephen King novella "The Colorado Kid". The novella was a tribute to the 'hard-boiled' genre of noir mystery, complete with King staples including a mysterious body, a small Maine island, and the usual procession of rustic characters. You could call it North-Eastern noir, I suppose.
The series itself seems to be one of those 'in the flavor of' things, with no direct King connection – yet – outside of providing the source 'inspiration.' For the full story, let's turn the mic over to SyFy's newly minted press release:

The producers of the hit television series The Dead Zone are turning to another Stephen King tale. Showrunner Scott Shepherd and executive producers Lloyd Segan and Shawn Piller are overseeing Haven for SyFy. It's an adaptation of King's novella "The Colorado Kid" and is set in the Maine town of Haven where an FBI agent is investigating supernatural forces plaguing those living in exile. Sam Ernst and Jim Dunn wrote the pilot. "The Colorado Kid" was first published in 2005 and was King's crack at hard-boiled noir.

Now, Variety reports that Universal Networks Intl., the newly rebranded global channels unit of NBC Universal, has signed on to co-finance the drama. Indie studio E1 Entertainment is currently developing 13 episodes of Haven to produce. While Universal has acquired exclusive pay TV rights across the globe except for the U.S., Canada and Scandinavia, where distribution is still being sought. No word yet on when production will ramp up, but the pilot is being written by Sam Ernst and Jim Dunn, whom also served as exec producers on USA's The Dead Zone series. More when we hear it!

Author Stephen King will develop his novella The Colorado Kid into an hour long TV series titled Haven for Canada's E1 Entertainment. Former Dead Zone honcho Scott Shepherd will executive produce Haven with Lloyd Segan and Shawn Piller. Former Dead Zone writers Sam Ernst and Jim Dunn will script the pilot. E1's John Morayniss and Noreen Halpern will also executive produce, committed to producing 13 episodes. E1 previously set up the Canadian/Us series Copper for ABC/Canwest and The Bridge for CBS/CTV. The Colorado Kid mystery novel was first published in a 2005 paperback-only edition, written by King for the 'Hard Case Crime' imprint. The third-person narrative concerns the investigation of the body of an unidentified man found on a tiny island off the coast of Maine. Lacking any identification or obvious clues, the case reaches nothing but repeated dead-ends. Well over a year later the man is identified,...

A pile of writers, Scott Shepherd, Lloyd Segan, Shawn Piller, Sam Ernst and Jim Dunn, former vets of King’s “Dead Zone” series are hard at work at 13 episodes of “Haven”, an adaptation of Mr. King’s “Colorado Kid” novella. “Haven” follows another crazy Maine town that houses folks with curses and the woman sent to keep the cursed under wraps when the damned begin to unravel. E1, the studio behind “Hung” is behind the effort. The Colorado Kid is one Stephen King work that I haven’t read but wikipedia doesn’t seem to agree with Haven’s premise at all. I’ll have to dig the “Kid” up and give it a look. Thanks Variety.
