Damn Handy epitomizes the notion that it takes a village to make a film.
The Craft and Flatliners screenwriter Peter Filardi is turning Guilford, the coastal Connecticut town he now calls home, into a microcosm of Hollywood. Upon meeting Roger Clark, best known for portraying Arthur Morgan in the video game Red Dead Redemption 2, at a local dog park during the pandemic, the two knew they had to work together.
The first person they went to was Alec Asten of Connecticut-based production company Firesite Films. Following a successful collaboration on the 2021 short Hazardous — with Filardi writing and directing, Clark acting and producing, and Firesite producing and recruiting crew — the team was eager to reunite.

We have some bad news for fans of Chapelwaite.
The horror drama will not be returning for a second season.
Co-creator and Executive Producer Jason Filardi took to X to share the sad news.
"I'm afraid Captain Boone's story ends on that beach of weathered, Maine sand," Filardi posted.
"There will be no Season 2. Thank you to all the Chapelwaite fans!"
Chapelwaite launched in August 2021, with the development of a second season being announced shortly after.
But with a lack of updates, fans were left pondering what would become of the series.
Unfortunately, it's likely that no episodes were produced for the planned second season, and Epix becoming MGM+ likely changed the streamer's priorities away from making the new season.

The Epix television show Chapelwaite was described as being a ten episode limited series that would tell the story of Stephen King’s short story Jerusalem‘s Lot, which was a prequel to his novel Salem’s Lot… but after the show’s run came to an end, it was announced that Chapelwaite season 2 was in the works. While the first season had covered the entirety of King’s story, in its own way, the second season was going to go beyond the source material to tell its own original story. But things have changed in the year and half since it appeared that Chapelwaite season 2 was a sure thing, and now showrunner Jason Filardi has taken to social media to confirm that the new season isn’t going to happen after all.

2021 hasn’t exactly been the year of great Stephen King adaptations on the small screen. “Lisey’s Story” wasn’t the cerebral thriller it should have been. And the newest attempt at “The Stand” was a major dud almost from its onset. But, as they say, the third time’s a charm with “Chapelwaite,” a pitch-black horror set in 1850s Maine, where vampires rule the looming eternal night.
Like many great “Nosferatu”-lite narratives, “Chapelwaite,” based upon King’s “Jerusalem’s Lot,” isn’t merely fixated on the bloodthirsty undead stalking the innocent humans trembling in their candlelit homes; it explores our relationship with death, grief, family and what it means to have eternal life. It begins at Chapelwaite manor, where in 1817 a petrified young boy named Charles Boone unsuccessfully attempts to escape his rabid, shovel-wielding father (Sebastien Labelle), who’s dug a grave in his name right outside their home.

Beginning this Sunday, Chapelwaite is the new Epix series adaptation of Stephen King's short story, Jerusalem's Lot.
Starring Adrien Brody and Emily Hampshire, Chapelwaite takes viewers to Preacher's Corners, where Charles takes his family to reside in his ancestral home.
Produced by Peter Filardi, Jason Filardi, and Donald De Line, Chapelwaite follows the Boone family and their governess, Rebecca, as they try to fit into a hostile environment at home and in town that, despite their best efforts, seems hellbent at making their lives miserable.
We had the opportunity to talk with stars Brody and Hampshire and the producers for an introduction to the series.
We'll be reviewing Chapelwaite weekly, and if you're a fan of King, this might be the adaptation of his work that you've been waiting for.
It's a haunting and heartfelt tale that immerses you in the Boones' experience, bringing Preacher's Corner and the tragedy that defines it to life.

Disney loves a good franchise and has a pretty good sense when it comes to finding the next one to work. They might have found it with Patrick Carman.s children.s book series, .Floors.. I don.t know how it will stand next to Marvel Studios, Pirate Of The Caribbean and Frozen but it sounds pretty fun to me. Jason Filardi (17 Again, Bringing Down The House) pitched the series to Disney and will write the script. Understandably I had never heard of the series, but its official description leads...

You know Charlie Bucket and his adventures in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. Now Disney wants you to meet Leo Fillmore and step into his wild Whippet Hotel, which contains caves, ponds, ghosts, and even a flying farm room. Deadline reports Walt Disney Pictures has purchased the rights to the Patrick Carman children's book series Floors. The books' author has been brought on as a producer. However, Carman has not been asked to draft the adapted screenplay. That responsibility goes to Jason Filardi, who pitched the project to Disney to begin with. Filardi's past credits include penning the 2009 Zac Efron/Matthew Perry comedy 17 Again and the 2003 Steve Martin/Queen Latifah laffer Bringing Down The House. The title Floors might seem lackluster, and I'd be willing to wager Disney will give it a flashier final name before release. However, the premise is one that plays to Disney's forte, promising a fantastical environment...

The Movie Pool blames Steve Martin and Queen Latifah for Bringing Down the House on Blu-ray!
The Set-up
A convict (Latifah) horns her way into an attorney's (Martin) life, causing a clash of cultures, but the two slowly begin to learn from each other.
Directed by: Adam Shankman
The Delivery
One might think that a film featuring the comedic talents of Steve Martin, Eugene Levy, and Queen Latifah would be a sure-fire hit, but Hollywood has taught us that they are experts at ruining a sure thing.
Bringing Down the House is an embarrassing film that could have set back race relations in America 30 years. The fact that Disney decided to release this on Blu-ray, yet holds back on Song of the South, frankly shocks me. This film makes Song of the South look like the March on Selma; it is that offensive.

Zac Efron is mixing up his plate. The 22-year-old heartthrob broke out with the songtastic High School Musical trilogy and Hairspray, then followed it up with his body switch rom-com 17 Again. Next, at the end of July, his dramatic chops will be tested in Charlie St. Cloud, which looks like a melodramatic Nicholas Sparks-esque time-waster.
But the young actor has started his own production company named (get this) Ninjas Runnin’ Wild Productions. But despite dreams of expanding his career, Efron is keeping his friends close. Filardi wrote 17 Again and Hairspray director Adam Shankman is also producing the comedy.

News comes to me today, via THR, that High School Musical alumni Zac Efron has started up his own production company, and lined up a leading role in an untitled Warner Bros’ comedy.
To begin with, his company was initially set-up in February, but now comes with it’s own snappy name – Ninjas Runnin’ Wild Productions.
In terms of the film, not much is known at present despite the fact Efron will star, reuniting with his 17 Again director Jason Filardi.
Efron fared well in 17 Again, and received some praise for his portrayal of Richard Samuels in Me and Orson Welles, so it’s be intriguing to see how he fares in both this and Charlie St. Cloud which is set to open later this year.
THR have a run down of some of the other projects Nrw are working on, click on the link to take a look and picture Efron in every lead role.

Not only is Zac Efron jumping in to star and produce on the latest Warner Bros comedy, but we get to find out what his new production company is called. Ninjas Runnin' Wild Productions is attached to the project that reunited Efron with "17 Again" writer Jason Filardi. No idea what this film is about, and there's no director attached at the moment. Efron keeps on trying to play the 'take-me-seriously' roles, but either he's some arrogant kid or a quiet statue with muscles. Who knows, maybe he'll finally impress us with his role in "Charlie St. Cloud", which I doubt. I understand he has tween-y fan base and all, but sometimes it pays off to take a little risk (example: the "Snabba Cash" remake). If you want your heart to go aflutter over a 'sailor' man, go and check out "Charlie St. Cloud" in theaters this July 30th from Universal Pictures.

• Zac Efron has joined an untitled workplace comedy developed by Jason Filardi, the guy who also wrote "17 Again." Efron is also producing the flick. No specific details about the film are available at this point. The "High School Musical" actor will next be seen in "Charlie St. Cloud," due in theaters July 30, 2010.

After singing, dancing and making tween and teen girls alike swoon all over him, Zac Efron has taken some very grown up steps toward a prosperous future in Hollywood by gradually moving away from that Disney image and into some very interesting projects. At only 22 years-old, Efron is the youngest actor to have an overall deal with Warner Bros. where he already has one project on his slate. Now THR adds another one to his workload at WB as the studio has just picked up an untitled workplace comedy which Efron will star in and produce. Jason Filardi wrote the script who also penned Efron's first real comedic venture 17 Again. Story details weren't given out, but the project is another in a group of endeavors set up between WB and Efron's own company which has since been given the name Ninjas Runnin' Wild Productions. With the economy in the tank, Spike TV is developing several comedy projects that find pathos and humor in underachievement.
The network has five new half-hours in the works to bulk up its fledgling scripted slate (along with an equal number of unscripted projects). The new half-hours feature struggling men wanting more out of life -- or to just slack off.

The projects also tackle several settings that have proven to be comedic fodder in the past. There are pilots set in the world of golf, the military and at a casino, to cite a few.
The network hopes to pick up two of the projects to series, one as a companion to its first comedy series, "Blue Mountain State," which was renewed for a second season in February.

Is this a coincidence or what? We heard that Spike TV ordered a single-camera pilot television project titled Back Nine, starring John Schneider (formerly of The Dukes of Hazzard fame) as Ronnie Barnes, a has-been former Us Open champ who travels the Us competing in small-time tournaments in hopes of qualifying for the PGA Tour.
What really makes this story interesting is that traveling with Ronnie is Tiger, his sex-addicted caddy and comedic actor Miguel Nunez is taking on the role.
Jason Filardi and Mark Perez are writing the project as well as direct the pilot and executive produce with John Lynch. Spike TV originally green lit the Back Nine script a year ago with the sex-addicted character named Tiger as part of the plot early on, obviously without having any indication of what was going to happen to the real Tiger Woods despite any of the rumors you may have heard.

The Hollywood Reporter has word that Spike TV is greenlighting a golf-themed pilot (cashing in on the current Tiger Woods hysteria going on in the media).
Back Nine stars The Dukes of Hazzard and Smallville alum John Schneider as Ronnie Barnes, a hard-drinking, larger-than-life, washed-up former U.S. Open champion. He travels the country competing in small-time tournaments with Tiger, his sex-addicted longtime caddy, in order to qualify again for the PGA Tour.
Jason Filardi (17 Again) and Mark Perez (Accepted) are tasked with writing duties (as well as directorial duties on the pilot), and Miguel Nunez is in negotiations to play Tiger. John Lynch is set to executive produce.
Interestingly enough, Spike fast tracked the Back Nine script almost a year prior to Woods’ November car crash which led to the leak of extramarital affairs. Woods is expected to publicly address those allegations for the first time Friday.
