Sometimes, it’s better to act up than act out! The Los Angeles–based radio series, ActingUpRadio, brings hour-long segments of tips, interviews, and industry news to the working actor each week. Lucky for you, a recent segment with host Will Roberts featured interviews with none other than Backstage Expert Heidi Dean and Backstage editor-in-chief Mark Peikert! Dean, who founded Marketing4Actors.com, specializes in actors’ personal marketing via social media. As the episode’s lead interview, she was quick to say that there’s no better time than today for actors to get involved on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms and create their own opportunities. “The biggest question actors ask me every day is do they need to be on social media, and it makes me laugh,” Dean tells Roberts. “No, they don’t need to be on social media—no one’s forcing them. But social media...

After successfully making the transition to the big screen a couple of years ago, and despite persistent denials of a sequel, The Inbetweeners are back.
Riding the crest of the Channel 4 sitcom wave Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, the creators and writers of the show, have flung our new fab four halfway across the world to Australia, there to once again ‘find themselves’ before finally growing up.
Can the team repeat their success and overthrow common knowledge once again in sending a small screen sitcom on holiday? Course.
The cast and crew were on the red carpet and Will Roberts and Emma Thrower were there to meet them.
The Inbetweeners 2 hits UK cinemas 6th August.

Actiontastic ensemble hijinks ensue in yet another Expendables film and this evening London welcomed the cast for the film’s world premiere.
The franchise’s godfather Sylvester Stallone rode into town with his latest merry band of mercenaries – this time included Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford and Antonio Banderas – to further entice action fans into the cinemas for one more go around. If you want to see what they spoke about at this morning’s press conference (including an update on the Expendabelles movie) check that out below.
Will Roberts and Amon Warmann were on the carpet this evening, of note in particular are the comments from Avi Lerner about the movie being leaked on the internet and Wesley Snipes on the rumblings of Blade 4.
You can see our review of The Expendables 3 here. The movie hits UK cinemas 14th August.

Jon Favreau’s most familiar work is certainly the Robert Downey Jr. show (ft. Iron Man) for which the perseverance in fighting for his lead actor paid off handsomely. Indeed his success in opening up the comic book movie to the world has had such a gigantic ripple effect that we’re planning spin-offs into the next decade, and have a film lead by an gun-toting raccoon this year.
His work outside of the comic book arena has also made waves, with Elf now being a seasonal favourite of many. however it was around the time of Cowboys & Aliens when it seemed that the blockbuster ride was getting a little too wearying and a change of pace was needed. That came with the film Favreau and friends were in London town tonight to premiere, Chef.

Hossein Amini’s debut film shares something with the work he’s known for in his screenwriting capacity. In the mid-90s he adapted Jude and The Wings of the Dove to great acclaim and more recently saw his work on Drive and Snow White and the Huntsman earn him further plaudits.
He stepped behind the camera last year to direct The Two Faces of January, a Patricia Highsmith novel he also adapted for the screen. Viggo Mortensen, Kirsten Dunst and Oscar Isaac star in the film, which played to great reviews at Berlin earlier in the year and this evening the UK premiere was held in Leicester Square.
Amon Warmann and Will Roberts were there to speak to the great and the good on the red carpet. Here’s what happened…

London’s Leicester Square opened its arms to its friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man this evening as Marc Webb’s much-hyped sequel came to town.
Webb reunites with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and welcomes newcomers Jamie Foxx and Paul Giamatti as Electro and The Rhino respectively.
Arguably the film which kicks off the 2014 blockbuster season the film has had a turbulent critical reception (we, for the record, rather liked it) but there’s no doubting the excitement which greeted the stars of the show as they arrived in town tonight.
With another Spidey film or two lined up, as well as films featuring Venom and the Sinister Six planned, there’s a lot riding on this one.
Ben Mortimer and Will Roberts were on hand this evening to talk to the great and the good. Here are the fruits of their red carpet labours.

Transformers: Dark Of The Moon (12A)
(Michael Bay, 2011, Us) Shia Labeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, Frances McDormand, John Turturro, Josh Dempsey, John Malkovich. 155 mins
Despite the bombastic patriotism, drooling machine porn, all-round political dodginess, atrocious comedy, antiquated alien-invasion plot, etc, there's something oddly compelling about metropolitan destruction and high-tech combat rendered on this scale. If only there weren't those irritating humans getting in the way. It's an improvement on the last one, but this is so defiantly crass, it's almost admirable. Best watched with a 10-year-old boy, a hangover, or a cultural historian by your side to tell you how wrong it all is.
A Separation (PG)
(Asghar Farhadi, 2011, Iran) Peyman Moaadi, Leila Hatami. 123 mins
The complete opposite of Transformers: a complex, intricate and deeply satisfying study of Iranian society. Built around a divorcing couple, but ranging far wider, it's a web of social taboos, domestic clashes and building tension.
