Lionsgate had a whole lot of interesting projects to promote at CinemaCon today. Alexandre Aja’s Never Let Go, The Crow remake, the Margot Robbie-produced Monopoly, Guy Ritchie’s In the Grey and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Highlander, Borderlands, a Blumhouse reimagining of The Blair Witch Project, the John Wick spin-off Ballerina, the Michael Jackson biopic Michael, they all got a moment in the spotlight in one way or another. And that’s far from the complete list. Attendees also got to see trailers and previews of multiple other films, and we’ve got a bit of a round-up compiled below.

Terry Crews is a serial entertainer. The energetic actor has a muscular physique that action icons Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger were impressed with when they worked with him on The Expendables franchise. However, despite the hulking image, Crews would not limit himself to action movies as he would use his charismatic charm for such sitcoms like Everybody Hates Chris and Are We There Yet?, as well as being the host for the reality competition, America’s Got Talent. Crews is now ready to throw some fists and let the bullets fly yet again. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Crews will be seen in an upcoming action-comedy that will co-star the equally charismatic muscleman, Dave Bautista. Crews and Bautista have recently wrapped filming on The Killer’s Game.
The film’s synopsis, as reported by THR, says, “Based on Jay Bonansinga’s novel, The Killer’s Game follows a veteran assassin (Bautista), who,...

George A. Romero rarely had it easy. From the beginning, he faced obstacles to getting his vision on screen and condemnation once he succeeded in doing so. It took him 20 years to make his way into the big leagues, yet faced frustrating interference once he did. Yet today, the work endures. He never abandoned his vision, even when it prevented him from having an easier time of the process, and his movies, once attacked as grotesque exploitation, are now properly celebrated as landmarks of cinematic horror.
Indeed, Romero not invented more than a new and enduring kind of zombie movie when he directed “Night of the Living Dead” 50 years ago; in many ways, he invented independent horror cinema as we know it. There had been lots of off-Hollywood fright films before “Night” hit screens in 1968, of course—even some showcasing graphic if cheaply executed gore, like the Herschell Gordon Lewis flicks.

For years, he's brought the dead to life in books like Patient Zero and Rot & Ruin, so it's rather fitting that prolific author Jonathan Maberry has now teamed up with the legendary George A. Romero to co-edit an anthology set within the early stages of the zombie uprising in Night of the Living Dead. Titled Nights of the Living Dead, the new anthology is now available from St. Martin's Press (check out our giveaway here), and to celebrate, we caught up with Maberry for our latest Q&A feature to discuss his work on the living dead dream project, and we also have a claustrophobic excerpt from his short story "Lone Gunman."
Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions for us, Jonathan. How did the opportunity come about to collaborate on a Night of the Living Dead anthology with the legend himself, George A. Romero?

Nearly 50 years ago, George A. Romero changed the horror genre as we know it with his big screen story about a fateful evening when the dead rose to feast on the flesh of the living. Now, almost half a century later, St. Martin's Press revisits that night with a new anthology of short stories set in the world of Night of the Living Dead. Co-edited by Jonathan Maberry and George A. Romero himself (who also wrote one of the stories in the book), the anthology will be unleashed on July 11th, and we've been provided with one paperback copy to give away to one lucky Daily Dead reader.

Joe R. Lansdale, Brian Keene, John Skipp, David J. Schow, Issac Marion—if reading those names in the same sentence gets your blood pumping a little quicker, then you're in for a real treat, because all of those acclaimed authors, along with many more, are coming together for a new short story anthology set on the evening of the zombie outbreak in the world of George A. Our friends at The Walker Stalkers recently announced that Andrew Lincoln, aka Rick Grimes, will be attending Walker Stalker Con Atlanta for one day only on Sunday, October 30th.
Lincoln is expected to take part in a panel and will also do photo-ops. Further details have yet to be revealed, but fans can expect panel seats and photo-op slots to quickly sell out once they become available to purchase.

We interviewed Jay Bonansinga when he was wrapping up The Governor novels and it seemed very likely that he’d be back for more novels set in The Walking Dead universe. Fans of his work won’t have too long to wait, as it has just been announced that Robert Kirkman and Jay Bonansinga will kick off a brand new 4-book series with The Walking Dead: Descent.
Due out on October 14th from Thomas Dunne Books/St. Martin’s Press, the new story will focus on Lilly Caul, a survivor of the battle between The Governor and Rick’s group at the prison. According to EW, we’ll see Lilly “returns to the town [Woodbury] and attempts to rebuild it after the Governor’s failed assault on the prison”.
This adds a lot more credence to the idea that Lilly Caul will make a return to the comic book series...

(Spoiler alert: Maybe don’t read this if you still plan to watch Sunday’s “Walking Dead.”) “The Walking Dead” has had two great episodes in a row, and on Sunday the show took a big, welcome turn by focusing for the first time entirely on The Governor. The Governor, now calling himself Brian, is a rich enough character that “Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman and Jay Bonansinga have written three novels about him as companions to the show and Kirkman’s excellent comics. Sunday’s episode, “Live Bait,” borrowed heavily from the first of those novels, 2011′s “Rise of The Governor,...

The Fall of the Governor is the third book in Robert Kirkman and Jay Bonansinga’s series of novels set in The Walking Dead universe. The new novel is due out in October and the official cover art has been revealed. Jay Bonansinga spoke with us recently and teased what we can expect from The Fall of the Governor:
