Binary Haze Interactive and developers Live Wire and Adglobe’s follow-up to their gothic Metroidvania Ender Lilies in Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist is out now in Early Access on Steam. The teams plan to keep the game in Early Access for “approximately six months to one year”, based on player feedback and suggestions. Ender Magnolia will eventually be making its way to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and the Nintendo Switch.
As mentioned before, the Early Access version of Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist includes the first few areas of the game, but the teams are planning to add more areas, unique enemies, player actions and bosses, as well as “enriched game mechanics and story elements.”
“The feedback we received from the Ender Lilies community has been a major contributor to the development of Ender Magnolia,” says Hiroyuki Kobayashi, CEO, Binary Haze Interactive. “We encourage everyone to lend their voice during Early Access,...

Publisher Binary Haze Interactive and developers Live Wire and Adglobe have announced a sequel to 2021’s Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights with Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist for the Nintendo Switch. Ender Magnolia is expected to release later this year. No word on other platforms as of yet.
The sequel to the critically-acclaimed dark fantasy metroidvania, Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist takes place decades after Ender Lilies and its Rain of Death. A new journey begins in the Land of Fumes, where the kingdom’s desire for conquest led to the creation of the Homunculi, machine-like artificial lifeforms. A recent resource-harvesting mission gone awry caused toxic vapors to emerge from underground, driving both man and machine to feral madness.
As the Homonculi devolve into dangerous creatures, players take on the role of Lilac, an “Attuner” with the power to purify those infected by the fumes, who must save the kingdom.

Wondering just where that fanservice shot from Resident Evil: Dead Island from yesterday came from? Animation studio Kadokawa has your answer with the brand-new Resident Evil: Death Island trailer!
The Death Island trailer does the usual trailer things of summarizing the plot, but also gives us more fanservice shots of the team shooting zombies and doing slick acrobatics, Chris Redfield in a Hawaiian shirt (?!), swimming Lickers and more. The trailer itself is in English with Japanese text, so you won’t need to hunt down a translation.
Keep in mind that the trailer only gives the Japanese release date of July 7. It’s still not confirmed what the worldwide release date will be.

With last year’s Resident Evil 2 remake selling a whopping 6.5 million copies, and with the recently released Resident Evil 3 remake topping the two million sales mark in less than a week, it’s fair to say that Capcom’s modernized survival horror revamps are proving to be great business for the Japanese publisher. Remember Resident Evil: The Final Chapter? Of course you do; Paul W.S. Anderson’s sixth and final installment in the lucrative series released only five months ago or so in the United States. But after grossing a franchise-high of $312 million at the global box office, the Powers That Be have officially ruled that there’s still life in the T-virus yet. So much so that Constantin Films and Screen Gems are purportedly in the early stages of constructing a six-movie reboot for Resident Evil.
News emerged during the Cannes Film Festival, where Constantin’s head honcho Martin Moszkowicz revealed that Resident Evil won’t be spending too much time on the shelf after all. As we mentioned above, a reboot of the series is currently in development from Aquaman director James Wan and writer Greg Russo, with a potential further six films to be released, albeit sans Jovovich – and she...

Have you been waiting patiently for Capcom to lift the lid on Resident Evil 7? Unfortunately, you may be waiting for a good while longer to get any news on the game, according to the series producer, Masachika Kawata.
Speaking in a special celebratory issue of Dengeki Playstation, Kawata acknowledged that fans have been waiting patiently for news on the next main entry in the survival horror series, and also recognised concerns fans have had over it losing its original focus on horror – especially in the various spin-off titles like Operation: Raccoon City.
Since there’s been more spinoff titles, I can see how it can be perceived in such a way. And of course I believe that we should produce titles that bring out the horror. I’m thinking about it and also preparing for it.

Capcom Online Games has debuted a full-length trailer for its upcoming RPG Dragon’s Dogma Online, which is slated to release in Japan across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PC later this year.
Offering up our best look at gameplay to date, the footage also gives us a hint at the kind of enemies the final build will contain and, if you’re fluent in Japanese, the story which will underpin the studio’s Mmo. As we learned some weeks back, Ddo is a free-to-play title that will support up to 100 players in any given lobby. From there, users pledge allegiance to a squad of four to take down some of the realm’s most foreboding foes, whereas the more challenging raid missions will require groups of eight.

Resident Evil 6 may be the next part in the franchise’s progression towards more action orientated horror, as shown by both trailers and gameplay, but it also marks a return to the zombies of the first few games. Apparently the undead are rather “popular”, and players of the past two zombie-free endeavours have made it clear that they “really wanted them” to shamble their way back into the series.
Speaking to Siliconera, executive producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi mentioned these requests and how the game should scratch that infected itch:
“We tried to respond to the requests and put them in this game. We tweaked them a bit so they aren’t the same zombies you would expect.”

There are many games that I am interested in getting my hands on at this year’s E3, but none more so than Resident Evil 6.
Capcom gave me an exclusive 45 minute demo of the game that featured 3 levels, allowing me to try out the game’s three main characters and how each slice of the campaign will differentiate itself from one another. In addition to this demo I had a chance to talk with two fine folks who are working tirelessly on Resident Evil 6, Hiroyuki Kobayashi and Yoshiaki Hirabayashi (both producers), but more on that later.

The demo was broken down into three intervals lasting approximately 15 minutes each in length. The lovely and super accommodating Capcom PR staff gave me a quick rundown of what to expect with each scenario. Leon’s would be more heavily rooted in classic Re staples (so horror), Chris’s would...

Capcom have have released a brand new trailer and given more information for the forthcoming and highly anticipated Resident Evil 6.
Firstly the release date has been moved from November 20th to October 2nd. According to executive producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, the decision was based on the positive fan reaction to the game’s January trailer. He said;
”The enthusiastic reception for the trailer made Capcom want to get the game into player’s hands earlier”’
It has also been revealed that the game will not be coming to Nintendo’s new console, the Wii U. Kobayashi stated;
Unfortunately, RE6 will not be available at this time on the Wii U. Right now we’re concentrating on the PlayStation 3 version, 360 version and the PC version of the game.
This shouldn’t be much of a surprise since Resident Evil 5 was never released on the Wii and it looks like the same is true for its sequel.

During a Microsoft fan event in Tokyo's Akihabara district, officiated by exec Takashi Sensui, Capcom producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi made an appearance to talk about some of his company's upcoming lineup for the console. Those titles included Asura's Wrath, Street Fighter X Tekken, Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, and Dragon's Dogma.
And since the Xbox brand will be celebrating its 10th anniversary in Japan this year, Kobayashi teased a future announcement for the last two titles in the coming days. So what can it be? Exclusive Dlc? New characters? Master Chief plugged into both titles in some weird and magnificent way?
Dragon's Dogma is Capcom's stab at the big, open-world RPG genre with a Monster Hunter vibe (albeit with way more blood and gore, its seems), and you can check out a trailer for it below:

Resident Evil 6 is Capcom's largest ever production with more than 600 staff involved in its development, the game's producer has revealed. Calling Resident Evil 6 "by far the largest production Capcom has ever worked on", executive producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi explained that more than 600 people from across the world helped to produce the game, including 150 staff members in Japan. Kobayashi also called Resident Evil 6 the most ambitious game in the series, which would "draw from the fundamentals that made the previous Resident Evils so great, but also add entirely new breathtaking aspects and many surprises". Describing the story as "intricately designed", director Eiichiro Sasaki told the Capcom Unity blog (more)...

Who's the mystery character aiding Chris and Leon in Re: 6? Whoever he is, you'll get to play him.
Andriasang relayed some interesting tidbits about Resident Evil 6 following last week's Resident Evil Premiere Party. Interspersed between new tie-in product announcements including manga and a line of Re-branded shades, Executive producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi, producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi and director Eiichiro Sasaki revealed a few more details about the November sequel.
Of particular interest is the currently unnamed third playable character in Resident Evil 6 who is apparently the crew-cut blonde guy in the trailer. It's unknown how he's tied to Leon and Chris, the Re team did elaborate a bit on the story, reiterating some of the details of the press release—i.e. Leon has to put down the recently zombified president while Chris is battling the spreading zombie menace in China—as well as naming Secret Service agent accompanying Leon (Helena Harper). This seems too good to be true. I can play as both of my favorite Resident Evil franchise characters in the same game, and there's no catch?! Awesome. Not to mention the gameplay looks amazing.
It may be too early to tell, but I have a strong feeling this game is going to advance the series leaps and bounds in the same way it's predecessor (Re:4) did. Makes sense, as Hiroyuki Kobayashi is finally back in control on the franchise!

New game gets release date and preorder schemes through various retailers. Also, "President Evil."
It's not enough that we get a demo for Revelations on the 3Ds, or that there's a trailer for the latest Paul W.S. Anderson-directed sequel in the film franchise, but now we have the release date for the Resident Evil 6, lacking only a comic or television announcement to make this a full media blitz.
The sequel will team of leads Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield against the never ending living biohazard menace in both the U.S. and China, ten years after the events of the first game. The last game saw perennial bad guy Albert Wesker taking a lava bath at its conclusion, so it's possible that the franchise may be getting a brand new heavy. It looks like the game is running on a beefed-up version of the engine from 5 which wasn't too...

Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil 6 will arrive on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in November, with a PC release slated for later in the year.
The developer behind the successful franchise also revealed that the sixth instalment will feature series regulars, such as Chris Redfield, Leon S. Kennedy, Ada Wong as well as several new characters brought on board to battle the zombie outbreak.
Despite sounding all too familiar, the man behind the development, Hiroyuki Kobayashi, stated that Re:6 will be a big step up from the previous games.
"From the outset the team’s intention was to create an experience that delivers a gripping storyline, tense single-player and co-op action all set against a constant theme of horror.
"We are calling this fusion dramatic horror and are confident it will resonate with both existing fans of the series as well as newcomers," said Kobayashi.

One of life's greatest mysteries is the fact that no matter what, we just can't seem to get a good movie out of the Resident Evil franchise. Why should American comics get all the fun of film adaptations? That’s not likely to be the case much longer, as several series based on manga — Japanese graphic literature — are getting in on the act, too.
On the heels of recent reports that the manga series "Akira", "Ghost in the Shell", and "Paprika" are being adapted into live-action films, comes news of another property getting the same treatment: Hideyuki Kikuchi’s "Vampire Hunter D". According to Anime Vice, which based its revelation on the Japanese horror mag Rue Morgue, Kikuchi is developing a live-action Vampire Hunter D as well as a new feature-length anime. The story also mentions a producer of the "Resident Evil" video game series (rumored to be Hiroyuki Kobayashi) will be involved in the live-action movie.

The results are in! Experts conclude that too much video-game playing featuring violence against zombies leads to an unquenchable desire to see and perpetrate even more violence against zombies!
At least, that’s what Sony Pictures and game maker Capcom are hoping for when they release Resident Evil: Degeneration, their full-cg film based on the seminal zombie shooter, on DVD December 30. For those in the advanced stages of the aforementioned zombie-aggression sickness who simply can’t wait until then, you can catch a Fango-sponsored preview screening of the film next Tuesday, November 18 in Los Angeles (see details here).

At Tgs we had a chance to sit down with Hiroyuki Kobayashi and Makoto Kamiya, respectively the producer and director of Resident Evil: Degeneration, the first Resident Evil film to be entirely CGI and also the first to be canonical. They gave us the skinny on RE5, struggling with needy CG actors, and returning Resident Evil to it’s slow-zombie roots. [Note: In Japan, the Resident Evil series is called Biohazard. In this interview, the two titles are interchangeable.] Ugo: Resident Evil’s story has begun to span the globe with Resident Evil 5 and the upcoming Resident Evil 4. Why did you choose to return to Midwest America with Degeneration‘s story? Kobayashi-san: Leon became an agent working directly for the Untied States President in Resident Evil 4, and to rescue the daughter of the Us President he went to Europe. But what we wanted to do was…this agent, working for the Us government, [we wanted him] to do his thing in the United States. Ugo: American zombie films are known for their political subtext.
