Madonna and Sean Penn were one of the biggest celebrity couples of the 1980s, but it didn’t work out for them. Despite their high profile, it seems like the reasons for their divorce are not widely discussed. Interestingly, Madonna wrote a song about a “destructive relationship” that seemed to resonate with Penn.
Madonna and Sean Penn met on the set of a famous music video
According to People, the Queen of Pop met Penn on the set of one of her defining music videos: “Material Girl.” Six months later, the two married on Madonna’s 27th birthday. Penn was 25 at the time.
At first, Madonna said their relationship was great because they shared the same temperament. Like many famous couples, they decided to play a couple onscreen. Together, they starred in the romantic comedy Shanghai Surprise, which became a notorious critical and commercial bomb.

Undead soap opera the Twilight Saga is nearing its demise – the final one, this time. But what's at stake for the heroine and her vampire husband in Breaking Dawn – Part 2? Let's find out …
The end of the Twilight Saga will come as a wrench to all sorts of people. The teenage girls with "Team Edward" daubed across their faces. The teenage boys who have only just discovered how to copy Robert Pattinson's haircut. The adults yet to discover that people give you fewer funny looks on the bus if you disguise your copy of New Moon in a different dust cover. Taylor Lautner, who at this point hasn't worn a shirt for over three years.
But, still, the end has come. Breaking Dawn – Part 2 will be released later this year, bringing the mega-franchise to its climax. The first sign of Breaking Dawn – Part 2 came earlier this week, when a teaser trailer was released.

Another year, another avalanche of remakes, dodgy 3D conversions and incomprehensible M Night Shyamalan dialogue. Here's how the studios need to mend their ways
1 Fewer sequels and remakes
This was probably included in lists of Things We Want From Hollywood In 2010. And 2009. And 2008. And it'll be included on every list like this until the Sun implodes and swallows the Earth. It's a perennial complaint for good reason. Only two of this year's top 10 movies are original works – Inception and Despicable Me – with the rest cobbled together from sequels (Iron Man 2), threequels (Toy Story 3), remakes (The Karate Kid) and adaptations (Harry Potter). It's horribly unimaginative, but at least next year's blockbuster season promises to be better. After all, it'll contain Super 8. And Cowboys & Aliens. Except, wait, that's based on a graphic novel. And Thor, based on a comic. And Pirates of the Caribbean 4. And The Hangover 2. And Transformers 3.
