How do you rank perfection? Duncan has a go, as he lists the top 25 Jason Statham films...
For regular Den Of Geek readers, it will come as little surprise to see this list come round. We've chosen our favourite Statham films before, but such is the productivity of the great man, it was decided that a mere top ten was no longer large enough to contain his ever growing body of work. Last time I mentioned updating this piece to the man himself back in 2012 due to his insane workload, he cracked up and responded, “My productivity is overwhelming! 'Have a fucking day off!'”
Since this list has now expanded to encompass 25 of his movies, it seemed only right to include multiple sequels, with his big trio of action franchises all spawning some thoroughly entertaining fare worthy of mention, though I’ve tried to exclude the personal bias that...

Film scores aren't just for playing in the background any more. Ivan looks at how they're taking centre stage...

Film soundtracks have always been a strange medium. The music relies on movies for their full meaning. They're so integral to a film and its mood that to listen to them away from the big screen can seem strange to many. Others, meanwhile, take the chance outside of the cinema to pore over them in detail, or use them for background music while running or working (How to Train Your Dragon's on now, if you're wondering). It's only in recent years that another way of listening to them has become popular again: with your eyes.
Do a quick Google for "film with live score" and you'll discover a whole heap of events currently happening around the UK in which orchestras accompany a screening. Why the sudden trend? Is it...

TNT has greenlit 10 episodes for a series based on The Librarians franchise, slated to air in late 2014. The TV movies told the story of a group of extra special librarians who live beneath the Metropolitan Public Library in New York and safeguard mystical relics from forces of evil by slapping them with outrageous overdue fees. The plot is a messy stew of Indiana Jones, National Treasure, and Hell Boy …but the product is less than the sum of its parts.
Noah Wyle (Falling Skies, ER) will reprise his role as the big cheese librarian and will also executive produce. Rebecca Romijn will play Eve Baird,...

From Francis Ford Coppola to George Miller, we take a look at 10 directors who made belated returns to the franchises they created...
There's nothing new about directors returning to the stories and characters they first brought to the screen years before. Director Fritz Lang directed his first film featuring the mesmeric master of disguises Doctor Mabuse in 1922; he then returned to make The Testament Of Dr Mabuse in 1933, before heading back one final time for The Thousand Eyes Of Dr Mabuse in 1960 - the director's last film.
In recent years, however, it's become increasingly common for directors to return to the film series they began years earlier. It's an attempt, perhaps, to return to themes that still interest them, or to tell a new story in the same landscape as before, or maybe because of a Hollywood deal too lucrative to turn down. As the selection below proves,...

Disney has acquired the rights to any future Indiana Jones films from Paramount Pictures.
Walt Disney Studios confirmed on Friday (December 6) that it now has the rights to market and distribute any upcoming movies from the franchise.
Paramount retains distribution rights for the first four Indiana Jones films, in addition to financially benefiting from any future movies.
The Indiana Jones films have starred Harrison Ford as a globe-trotting adventurer, who frequently thwarts Nazi schemes and foils world domination plots.
Ford said during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show in October that he would jump at the chance to play Indiana Jones again.
"I don't think there is any barrier to Indiana Jones being an old fart," Ford joked. "I'm old enough that we don't need [Sean] Connery anymore - I'm old enough to play my own father!"

Now this is an article all about how
The Fresh Prince turned our lives upside down
Now if you’d like to take a minute and just sit right there
I’ll tell you all about the top moments in Bel Air.
Sorry. But points for trying, surely?
In May this year, Will Smith delighted audiences yet again with a Fresh Prince reunion on The Graham Norton Show. The 18,488,325 views (and counting) on YouTube proves that The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air really was a much treasured and loved show for many, even 17 years after the show aired its last episode. Not many television shows can say that about themselves. I’m not claiming that The Fresh Prince was the perfect show (what is?) but what it certainly is a little nostalgic pop culture gem from 80′s and 90′s that we all remember fondly and look back upon with a smile.

Hold on to your blasters, Harrison Ford is set to reprise his iconic portrayal of everyone’s favorite intergalactic space smuggler, Han Solo, when cameras roll early next year on Star Wars: Episode VII.
While Lucasfilm has yet to reveal official casting news, the cantankerous Ford all but confirmed his participation in the upcoming Star Wars film during a recent appearance on the U.K. chat-fest The Graham Norton Show. Despite non-committals from insiders at both Lucasfilm and Disney, the casting of Ford seems all but assured (with a few interesting caveats, of course).
Although it is common knowledge amongst the Star Wars-fan community that Ford found the character of Han Solo not to his liking (to put it mildly), word comes that he has agreed to pilot the Millennium Falcon one more time, if (and that’s a big if), work were to progress on a fifth Indiana Jones adventure.

Star Wars? Sherlock? Doctor Who? The Imitation Game? We dig through Benedict Cumberbatch rumours to find out what he's actually up to.
This article contains a spoiler for Star Trek Into Darkness.
What is Benedict Cumberbatch working on at the moment? If you believe every single news story, rumour and bit of scrawled bathroom graffiti that you read, the more apropos question would be “What isn’t Benedict Cumberbatch working on at the moment?”
The actor has had a meteoric rise to fame in the last few years, going from antagonising James McAvoy in both Starter For Ten and Atonement, to pretty much dominating the casting rumour mill every time there’s an opening for an erudite and intelligent character.
Attracting a sizeable fanbase as he's done so, he’s probably done more to make smart look sexy than any of his peers in the industry.

During a recent appearance on the U.K. chatfest The Graham Norton Show, Harrison Ford curmudgeonly downplayed any involvement in the soon-to-shoot and hotly anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII.
Appearing on the talk show to promote his starring role in the soon-to-be-released Ender’s Game, Ford (as he seemingly always does when Star Wars is the topic) appears to go to the Dark Side when Graham inquired about his rumored appearance in the upcoming J.J. Abrams-directed sequel; stating evasively that “he had not quite made the choice.”
With production for Episode VII scheduled to commence in January 2014, it is indeed strange that we have yet to receive confirmation (or denials for that matter) as to who from the original trilogy will be asked to reprise their roles.
Ford’s reluctance to divulge substantive information regarding his participation in the Star Wars sequel could just be a clever ploy on his part,...

Harrison Ford has said that he is still keen to play Indiana Jones again.
The Ender's Game star revealed on The Graham Norton Show that he would play his iconic action hero again "in a New York minute".
"I don't think there is any barrier to Indiana Jones being an old fart," Ford said. "I'm old enough that we don't need [Sean] Connery any more - I'm old enough to play my own father!"
Asked about the prospect of doing more stunts as the whip-cracking archaeologist, Ford replied: "I used to enjoy physical acting, it was fun. I was more fond of it then than I am now and people don't ask me to do it that much any more."
Ford, who appears on Norton's chatshow with Benedict Cumberbatch, was promoting his upcoming science fiction blockbuster Ender's Game.
"I am very proud of the movie," Ford remarked, adding of his co-star Asa Butterfield.

Superman premiered in Action Comics #1 of the same year, a time when Americans were in desperate need a hero; and ever since, Superman has appeared in a variety of animated and live action movies and television series. The Man of Steel has also appeared in various radio serials, newspaper strips, and even video games throughout the years, and with the success of his adventures, Superman helped to shape the superhero genre and establish its command within American pop culture. An animated cartoon of Superman appeared in 1941, and in 1942, a Superman novel was published. A Columbia...

It's been more than a quarter century since the "Silver Spoons" cast shared the small screen together, but Ricky Schroder, Joel Higgins, Erin Gray and Alfonso Ribeiro gathered to look back on the '80s hit on "Today" this week (above).
"Silver Spoons," which aired on NBC from September 25, 1982 to March 4, 1987, made Schroder a star, but Higgins said he never let it get to his head. "There were no egos involved. Nobody was a diva. If anybody had a right to be, it was Rick and he never, never was," the now retired actor said on "Today."
"It was absolutely perfect," Gray, who has a few thriller movies coming out soon, added of working with her former "Silver Spoons" co-stars. "The best five years of my life. Loved them at the beginning; loved them at the end. Can't say that too often."

While the term “fanboy” is typically associated with comic books and tentpole movies, I believe it can apply to anyone who supports a particular piece of pop culture – as long as they do so rabidly. The Internet has made all of us fanboys, particularly about film, and thus many movies that have extremely devoted followings are not always inherently geeky. For example, I would happily self-identify as a There Will Be Blood fanboy, as I can quote just about every line from that thing verbatim.
Time will tell which initially acclaimed movies eventually fall into disfavor and vice versa. It seems like this has been happening faster and faster in the past five years; Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, Iron Man 2, and most recently Prometheus have inexplicably positive overall reviews from critics despite being almost universally regarded as awful. Now this is a story all about how… Will Smith revisited his Fresh Prince of Bel Air roots on The Graham Norton Show this week, bringing two special friends along for the ride down memory lane.
Appearing on the BBC talker with son Jaden to promote their father-son space movie After Earth, Smith grabbed a mic, introduced longtime collaborator DJ Jazzy Jeff and launched into a sing-along-with-me reprise of the Fresh Prince theme. Update: Apparently this was a follow-up to Smith’s year-ago appearance on Graham Norton (seen here).

Alexander and Ilya Salkind had sold Superman to the Golan-Globus Group/Cannon but wisely retained the rest of the family including Superboy. Thanks to Star Trek: The Next Generation pioneering first run syndication in 1987, the Salkinds realized the Teen of Steel would be perfect. Looking to produce this on the cheap, they set up shop in Florida, hired science fiction hack Fred Freiberger to produce and hired a slate of newcomers to fill the iconic roles of Clark Kent, Ma and Pa Kent, Lana Lang, Lex Luthor, et. al. The series debuted in 1988 with 25 episodes and was pretty laughable stuff. Freiberger was past his sell-by date and the Salkinds didn’t know how to handle the half-hour drama format.
Still, the ratings from the 95% of the country the series reached were strong enough to keep them going. However, changes needed to be made. Freiberger was shoved out and Salkind favorite...

Fox has one of its better slates coming your way with the new season, especially if you take the midseason shows into account. Some of these shows may not jump out at you now as must-see, but some of them are going to take over, if I’m any judge anyway.
Clear showcase offerings Dads, Almost Human, and Us & Them are guaranteed to take off early. Almost Human has J.J. Abrams recognition to pull people in, though it looks to be a show that could flounder after a few episodes, even if I hope it doesn’t. The other two are going to become hits. Unfortunately, we have to wait until mid-season for the Gavin & Stacey remake.
Rake also looks like a winner, as long as the translation can be made to work as an Americanized product, and the show actually delivers what made the Australian original so brilliant.

"They say if you go to the movies long enough you will finally see yourself on the screen." –Roger Ebert, review of Joe Dante's 'Matinee'
Greetings from the apocalypse! As you may have heard this past week we lost the big enchilada of film criticism, Roger Ebert. Neither as fanged as Pauline Kael nor a Peter Travers-style studio kiss-ass, Ebert's prose was both literate and fiercely proletariat, with modern film journalism positively maggoty with his influence. Smallville actor Sam Jones III has been released from prison after serving ten months for conspiracy to sell drugs. Jones was sentenced to 366 days behind bars last year after pleading guilty to having a role in a drug ring that attempted to sell 10,000 pills of painkiller drug oxycodone. The presiding judge was said to have handed down a lenient sentence on Jones due to the relatively minor role he apparently played in the operation. Law (more)...

*Updated with the official press release* A number of distributors were looking to acquire The Lords of Salem after its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, but it has been revealed that Anchor Bay emerged as the victor.
According to Deadline, Anchor Bay Films has acquired Us rights to The Lords of Salem with a minimum guarantee bid of around $1.5 million. Other companies that were in the running included Image Entertainment, Millennium Entertainment, and Open Road Films.
There are no details on how or when the film will be released, but unless Anchor Bay is really looking to get this in front of audiences around Halloween, we don’t expect to see it until next year. Traditionally, Anchor Bay is known for running very limited theatrical releases followed by a Blu-ray/DVD/VOD release right after. However, as Anchor Bay continues to expand it’s portfolio and get involved in bigger horror productions,...

Chicago – The 2010-11 season was a very interesting one for network television. After a few years of undeniable failure, most of the networks found at least one new notable hit. Fox is building an entire night of comedy around Emmy-nominated breakout “New Girl.” ABC is ecstatic over the loyal followings for “Revenge” & “Once Upon a Time” (and “Suburgatory” has the potential to truly breakout in its sophomore season). NBC looks a little more dire but is willing to give “Up All Night” and “Whitney” second chances. And CBS’ “2 Broke Girls” looks like it could be on for a decade. It was a solid crop all around. The good news? This season looks even more promising when one looks at the very top of my annual top ten list of the most promising new shows.

Matt Jones (Breaking Bad) has been cast on The Office‘s potential spin-off as Dwight’s mysterious cousin Zeke, per The Hollywood Reporter.
The character — along with the previously cast Thomas Middleditch (The Campaign), Majandra Delfino (Roswell) and Blake Garrett (Bridesmaids), who will play Dwight’s brother, sister and nephew, respectively — will be introduced in an episode of the departing NBC comedy this fall. Should the network move forward with the Schrute-centric spinoff, all four would be series regulars.

The greatest pitfall television series featuring high school cast members has is that the cast is already older when the series begins and they age out rapidly. Smallville stopped setting stories in the high school because the cast looked ridiculous on the sets. Confronting the inevitable graduation challenges the producers to find tortured ways to keep the cast intact after the caps and gowns are put away. Even Buffy the Vampire Slayer suffered from this challenge so it is refreshing to see Glee take graduation head on in the third season of the Fox series.
Glee the Complete Third Season came out on DVD last week and seeing it without the weeks-long breaks between cycles, allows you to see how they handled the coming graduation and choices the teens are being asked to make. While the series has never really focused on the kids’ academics, there was almost zero interest in ACTs or college visits,...

When it’s least expected, cameo appearances within comedy movies can become show-stealing moments. It can also be the scene you remember most even if the cameos aren’t key to the film. The majority of cameos are non-credited because of the short screen time or simply because the actors are just too famous to even be credited. Nonetheless, the following film cameos are the most memorable due to the actors and writers’ impeccable timing and the genuine surprise the audience receives. In preparation for the Flash Gordon cameo in the upcoming comedy film Ted, we look at the top ten comedy movie cameos and their one-off moments of hilarity.

The Comic-Con 2012 schedule has now been released in full, and barring any major updates, is set. The blessing and curse of being an attendee is deciding which panels/autograph sessions/special events to attend, when they conflict. And they always do.
For you to see for yourself, below are what we are calling the “headliner” panels; those panels that are taking place in Hall H, Ballroom 20, Room 6Bdf, and the just-next-door Hilton Indigo Ballroom, the four major venues for panels. There are descriptions of each panel as well as the show(s) and/or movie(s) they are there to discuss.
See how many conflicts you might have, or how you might arrange time and space to somehow attend these plus spend every day in the vendors’ Exhibit Hall and chasing zombies in the nearby The Walking Dead Escape. By the way, if you figure that out, Please let us know.
