In the second filmmaker conversation event of the 2010 Los Angeles Film Festival, director J.J. Abrams (Mission Impossible III, Star Trek, Super 8) interviewed Edgar Wright, director of the much anticipated August film Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. The interview covered most of Wright’s rise in the film industry and used clips from his past works to demonstrate.
As much as I and, as Wright assumed, many others would have just as much loved Wright to interview Abrams, I found the event very entertaining and informative. Abrams is quite funny, and Wright seemed extremely down to earth. Although I have enjoyed Wright’s work over the years (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Spaced), I didn’t know much about him, and learning about his past from the man himself gave me more appreciation for his work. During the two hour-long event, we also got a look at a 9 minute...
