Box Office Ted movie: Directed by Family Guy's Seth MacFarlane and starring Mark Wahlberg (Contraband, Boogie Nights) and a living Teddy bear, Ted had a surprisingly strong opening day at the North American box office and may end up matching or perhaps surpassing its production budget by Sunday evening. Ted also boasted the highest opening-day box-office gross ever for an original R-rated comedy. The film also features Black Swan's Mila Kunis, Joel McHale, Avatar's Giovanni Ribisi, Patrick Warburton, Matt Walsh, Bretton Manley, the voice of Patrick Stewart, and cameos by Norah Jones, Flash Gordon's Sam J. Jones, and Alien's Tom Skerritt. Ted opened only slightly behind PG-13/PG-rated movies such as Kristen Stewart / Rupert Sanders / Sam Claflin / Charlize Theron / Chris Hemsworth's Snow White and the Huntsman, Ridley Scott / Michael Fassbender / Noomi Rapace's Prometheus, and Madagacar 3: Europe's Most Wanted. Ted will easily beat Brave this weekend.

Like many children with active imaginations, young John Bennett (Bretton Manley) wished that his childhood toy, a teddy bear named Ted, would come to life. However, unlike the vast majority of children's wishes that go unanswered, John's wish actually came true and Ted became a walking, talking teddy bear and life-long friend.
If you think it sounds awesome, wait until you see the new preview clips from Ted, the feature-length directorial debut for Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, who also voices Ted. Rude, foul-mouthed, and with an appetite for alcohol and prostitutes, Ted has become a destructive influence on adult John (Mark Wahlberg), who needs to cut the cord if he is going to mature and pursue a meaningful relationship with his girlfriend, Lori (Mila Kunis).
Next Showing: Ted opens June 29th
