Exit - perfectly made
15 January 2020
Exit screened at the Horror on Sea festival in 2020 to a packed out screen - lots of buzz about the film going in and thankfully the filmmakers lived up to it and then some. Without going into spoiler territory the main undercurrent of the film has the potential to come across as preachy, but the script straddles that fine line perfectly in fact it comes across as a very timely meta piece about something that is very of this exact moment in time.

The performances are all really good, but in particular the lead actress (Leonarda Sahani) has a lot to portray and does so well and very naturalistically. Tony Denham as the landlord Russell is also a brilliant creation - the audience were in hysterics over every line. The lighting and cinematography are a highlight - you can tell it has been thought through and theres a very consistent colour palette, not often found with low budget films.

This is the sort of film that is awfully brave to do on a budget - it relies on you believing the performers and the situation they find themselves in - you do though; down to a cracking script and great direction.
