Warning: This article contains major spoilers for the second episode of "The Mandalorian" season 3.
In this latest episode of "The Mandalorian," the next place Din Djarin heads is to see his old friend Pelli Motto on Tatooine. He needs a droid to accompany him to Mandalore to analyze the air to see if it's really toxic and having struck out with Ig-11 in the previous episode, he figures Pelli Motto might have the parts he needs. She doesn't, and sends him on his way with R5, a scaredy cat of a droid.
It's a great scene and a great touch to the world of "The Mandlorian," but fans will notice that it's a holiday on Tatooine, replete with fireworks. You see, it's Boonta Eve, an important holiday on the desert planet.
Boonta Eve was first mentioned in "Star Wars: Episode 1 — The Phantom Menace." The podrace that Anakin Skywalker...

The third time is the charm. Or rather, the third season.
“Star Trek: Picard” is finally a show worth watching — and celebrating. It’s had fits and glimmers of brilliance before this: the episode “Nepenthe” from Season 1. The first three episodes of Season 2. But very little else.
At the heart of the previous two seasons of the Patrick Stewart-starring show was a profound misunderstanding: that to avoid the nostalgia-trap of so many IP-revivals it had to completely reinvent the wheel when it came to “Star Trek” altogether. That meant sudden bursts of ultra-violence and a muted, monochromatic color palette, as if it was trying (poorly) to be an HBO prestige drama. As if that was the way to move the ball forward. There seemed to be a pathological fear of “Picard” repeating what “Star Trek: The Next Generation” had done; so much so, that “Picard” was defined by what it was not,...

Late Night TV Hosts And Even The Queen Herself Poke Fun At Oddly-Posed Photos Of World Leaders At G7
While the leaders of the world’s seven largest so-called “advanced economies” convened in the U.K. to discuss substantive issues like the pandemic, health care, climate change and corporate taxes, social media trolls were more interested in the odd “family photograph” the leaders took on a Cornish beach Friday morning.
The stiff, socially distanced portrait sparked memes all day long. Some likened the world leaders to the Avengers. Others said they appeared to be waiting to be beamed up to the Starship Enterprise. Still others guessed they were getting ready for Britain’s Got Talent.
World-class geek Stephen Colbert looked at the image and asked, “Before I order these [action] figures, does anyone know if you can take them out and play with them or are they glued to the display stand?”

“ died a senseless death in the other timeline. I didn’t like the sound of that, Captain. I’ve always known the risks that come with a Starfleet uniform. If I am to die in one, I’d like my death to count for something.”
Denise Crosby’s Lt. Tasha Yar, Star Trek: The Next Generation’s inaugural chief of security, managed—due to some alternate timeline trickery—to take that legendary meta-minded dig at her own death from two years earlier in the Season 1 episode, “Skin of Evil.” With that episode having originally aired on April 25, 1988, the anniversary is a good occasion to look back on the controversial behind-the-scenes circumstances that resulted in poor Tasha’s unspectacular, abrupt, red-shirt-like fatal encounter with an alien tar monster on a cheap-looking set.

At one point or another, it does feel as though one movie or another might take a shortcut in order to keep costs down or make the best use of props and set pieces rather than continue to create new and expensive sets and designs that might be reflected in the budget. In this light, it’s been seen that many props and set designs over the years have made their way from one movie to another, and while some people notice this without fail, others might not really take note or will actively ignore it since the stories are different

Arthur C. Clarke and Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey is regarded today as one of the most influential and important pieces of science fiction ever made. Decades later, the story of how man was born and reached the stars still feels like more than just a space-faring fairy tale. Today, the movie is recognized for its predictive power. In fact, according to a new scientific study, 2001 may have predicted yet another aspect of space travel researchers are only beginning to understand.

Despite its criminal underperformance at the Emmys this year (only scoring 5 nominations), the second season of Glow was a marvelous piece of television. After an equally impressive first season, season 2 found the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling coalescing into a tighter ensemble. It was no longer just a vehicle for stars Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, and Marc Maron. Each gorgeous lady had a rich history waiting to be told. Against the backdrop of grungy L.A., set to a mix of 80’s synth pop, Glow pulsated with life, energy, and plenty of risks waiting to be taken.
Season 2 ended with an offer for the ladies to adapt their syndicated show to an act in Las Vegas. Starship’s triumphant “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” begins to play as they board the bus that will land them in completely uncharted territory. With this notable shift in scenery, does...

Elton John has all the fame, fortune and awards any artist could wish for. Even so, he still has times when his self-esteem wavers.
“I think every artist does [have self-doubt],” the singer told Variety during an exclusive one-on-one interview on Thursday at the Cannes Film Festival. “Every creative artist does have doubt and has moments of, ‘Am I doing the right thing? Am I good enough?’ And that’s what turns us into monsters as well because I think you become unreasonable and of course the chemical substances and the alcohol doesn’t help anything and you lose touch with reality.”
John certainly knows that. As “Rocketman” so intimately details, the first half of his career led to multiple addictions — drug, sex and shopping — as well as bulimia and anger management issues. “The life I was leading, flying on the Starship [his legendary private plane], living in beautiful houses, buying things left, right and center...

Exclusive: The Oa and Star Trek: Discovery actor Jason Isaacs has teamed up with British production company Alaska TV to shop a factual space project to broadcasters and streaming platforms in the U.S. and UK.
The British actor is the latest A-list star to expand into the non-scripted world and has partnered with the makers of A+E Networks’ Damian Lewis: Spy Wars to develop Jason Isaacs: Space (w/t).
I hear that Isaacs, who is also set to star in Netflix’s reboot of The Dark Crystal, has filmed a taster tape for the docu-drama and will take the series out to the market with Alaska TV starting next week.
Isaacs will guide viewers through the true stories of skulduggery and war in space over the last 70 years. In recent history, the world’s leaders and private companies have been looking to the stars as the ultimate status symbol.

A couple of years ago it was announced that Sony Pictures would be developing a remake of Starship Troopers. Well, now it looks like there’s also a TV series in development and it could bring back the original cast of the 1997 film.
This latest information comes from screenwriter Ed Neumeier. In a recent interview with Hn Entertainment, he was asked about the possibility of a sequel, and that’s when he said:
”Well, I think they can. I don’t want to jinx anything, but we are talking about trying to do a television show that is based on that idea.”
The series would be set 30 years after the events of the film and it’s definitely something that I’d be interested in watching! What fan of the original film wouldn’t!? Neumeier went on to share that he has "mixed feelings" regarding the remake:

Whether you see it as a brilliantly subversive satire of jingoistic propaganda or just a fun, goofy little flick about killer space bugs, 1997’s Starship Troopers continues to hold a special place in the hearts of many a sci-fi fan. You can therefore imagine that writer Ed Neumeier will pique the curiosity a lot of people with his claim that we could be seeing the first film’s cast make a comeback for a new TV series.
As well as penning the script for Paul Verhoeven’s interplanetary actioner, Neumeier also worked on the property’s two live-action sequels, and also as the 2017 animated film Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars. Now it seems that he has his sights set on a TV show, and when Hn Entertainment asked him if he’d be interested in bringing back the old cast, the scribe said that the team is already discussing the idea:

Twenty years – and over a dozen more noms – later, Newman eventually brought home an Academy Award, for the Monsters, Inc. tune "If I Didn't Have You." As 1980 got going, Walter was distracted from Janie’s absence by progress on the band front. Garrick had found an electric guitarist, Tom O’Reilly. Though still lacking bass and drums, they decided to try putting together some new songs and practicing some covers -- because as TomO (as he styled himself) pointed out pragmatically, a good set of rockin’ covers would get them gigs at the frats that lined the south side of 114th St. Over a round of beers at the Marlin, a brightly lit bar that had less visual flair than a high school cafeteria, but the cheapest beer near campus, they decided to take turns suggesting covers.
Walter led off: "For Your Love." He liked it because of its harpsichord riff.
"Fuck that!" blurted TomO. "I was told we'd be covering Nuggets-type songs.
