Paramount+ in France has acquired “French Roulette – A Mother’s Ordeal,” Vincent Garenq’s (“Guilty”) limited series set in the 1970s.
Under the deal, Paramount+ will have exclusive first-window rights in France to the series, which is represented internationally by France TV Distribution, and will premiere it on Dec. 1.
Produced by Paris-based banners La Dame de Coeur and Effervescence Fiction, the miniseries is set in the French Riviera and inspired by the true story of Renée Le Roux, a former top model and fierce businesswoman who ran the city’s historical casino and stood alone against the mafia. As anyone who’s ever dreamed of wielding superpowers or living in a magical fantasy realm or fighting demons knows, San Diego Comic-Con is the ultimate safe space for geeks—as one Con-goer told EW earlier this month, “Nobody is judging you here.” That’s why attendees go all out, bedecking themselves in elaborate outfits that put some low-budget big-screen costumes to shame.

It's a style showdown between a silver screen siren and a reality show queen! Cameron Diaz looked sexy and sophisticated in this black and red silk heart print Saint Laurent mini with ruffle sleeves on the set of "Despierta America" last week. The "Sex Tape" star completed her effortlessly-chic ensemble with a sexy pair of Prada sandals, a loose ponytail and a minimalist necklace. She kept her look flirty and fresh with chestnut eye shadow, rosy blush and a light pink lip.Meanwhile, Kris Jenner previously wore the dress on June 27 at Khloe Kardashian's birthday bash on a yacht in New York City. The 58-year-old momager accessorized with bright red nail polish, a black clutch, and several bangles and rings. She amped up her makeup with smoky eyes and a nude lip, styling her short tresses into a feathered 'do. Kris played it perfectly safe with a classic pair of black pumps,...

Katy Perry has never been one for conventional fashion. Whether channeling a psychedelic with a latex fetish or finding new and exciting ways to sexualize candy, Perry's style is never boring. In fact, one might go so far as to classify her fashion as cartoon's idea of how humans dress. Which might be exactly what she is. Back in 1945 Archie Comics created Katy Keene, the Fashion Queen. With two, three, and sometimes four girls inexplicably fighting over the titular character of Archie, Keene was shelved in the late 80s due to over-saturation of the fawning teenage girl market. Busted out for only a handful of specials and annuals over the next decades, what was an ambitious model/singer/actress like Keene to do? Certainly not languish in the bowels of Archie, waiting for second-tier contenders like Sabrina and Cheryl to retire from the chase. So clearly she packed her wardrobe up,...

Queen of Bollywood, Queen of Hearts, Dil Ki Rani are just some of the words synonymous with Rani Mukerji. She debuted back in 1996 with the film Raja Ki Aayegi Baarat, which tanked at the box office. People started writing her off even before she emerged. But then came the turning points of her career, in the form of Ghulam and Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998, and she proved that she’s here to stay. While Ghulam gave her the title of ‘Khandala Girl’, while Kuch Kuch Hota Hai made people take notice of this amazing actor who had the ability and talent to stand her own ground in front of superstars like Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. She went onto win lots of accolades for both her films and there was no turning back. With her impeccable talent and infectious spontaneity, she ruled the industry and people’s hearts for several years.

With anticipation building for Angelina Jolie's "Maleficent," due May 30, it's worth noting that the source of her live-action remake, Disney's animated "Sleeping Beauty," marks its 55th anniversary this week. Released on January 29, 1959, the movie was only a modest hit at the time, but over the years, it earned acclaim for its gorgeous wide-screen visuals, its memorable music, and its unforgettable villainess.
It's a movie you probably watched many times as a child, and yet there are still some things you probably don't know about "Sleeping Beauty," including its connections to Bugs Bunny, "The Andy Griffith Show," and the British royal family.
Here's a list of 25 such items you can stack on your spindle -- but be careful to shield your fingertip.
1. "Sleeping Beauty" is adapted from both the Charles Perrault and Brothers Grimm versions of the classic fairy tale. In Perrault, the princess's name is Aurora; in Grimm, it's Briar Rose.

Regina's evil mother Cora is returning to "Once Upon a Time," but the deceased Queen of Hearts isn't coming back to life.
Rose McGowan is returning to the ABC fairytale drama to portray a young Cora in flashbacks, EW reports.
The last time we saw McGowan's Cora was in the game-changing episode "The Miller's Daughter" in March of 2013. That was when we learned Cora's origin story ... and also when we saw her die in present day (played by Barbara Hershey).
McGowan will return to "Ouat" in the 18th episode this season. What do you think we'll learn about Cora in flashbacks this time?...

Once Upon a Time is resurrecting Cora — kind of!
Actress Rose McGowan has signed on to reprise her role as the youthful version of the villainous Queen of Hearts.
McGowan (Charmed, Death Proof) previously played Cora in the pivotal episode “The Miller’s Daughter” last March, which was an origin story for the character (normally played by Barbara Hershey) and also showed her death. The character hasn’t been on the show since. McGowan will return to Once Upon in the 18th episode this season.
Here’s a clip of McGowan’s previous appearance on the show that includes a smooch with Rumple.

With all the mindless sequels and reboots that Hollywood has churned out over the last few years, it’s always nice when something original and well-written can break through and get a studio release. Unfortunately, many quality scripts can spend years without ever reaching the right executive to give it the green light. In an effort to make the process a little bit better, former production executive Franklin Leonard started The Black List in 2004. Today, the site announced its ninth annual list of the best unproduced scripts.
To come up with the list, nominations are received from over 250 executives. If a film gets 6 nominations, it gets a spot on the list. The more executives that nominate it, the higher on the list it is. Production for last year’s top film, Draft Day, is underway with the theatrical release scheduled for April, so there’s a pretty good chance that...

A wise man (Ok, Max Bialystock from The Producers) once said “When you've got it, flaunt it!” This is wisdom Legend of Korra knows well; with the show's original animation team, the meticulous artisans of Studio Mir, back in tow, and an episode set in a surreal universe where anything goes, “it” was flaunted and then some. Last week, Korra and her surrogate sister Jinora fell down a dragonfly bunny hole to the spirit world. In “A New Spiritual Age,” connections to Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland grew beyond resemblance to full-blown allusion as the duo took their first steps into the parallel universe. Korra arrives with a Queen of Hearts in her crosshairs, the religious zealot Unalaq who is bent on spreading darkness across the land. But in Carrollian tradition, she first had to run into the inhabitants of Wonderland.Writer Tim Hedrick truncates Carroll's story in faithful fashion.

Diana is a film about a royal subject that is not given a royal treatment. From the pen of first-time screenwriter Stephen Jeffreys, it is a flat rendition of a fascinating public figure, settling on a focus of the Princess of Wales’ love affair with heart surgeon Hazmat Khan, which ultimately turns its protagonist into a withering, indecisive, lovesick girl. Naomi Watts, an actor often strong-willed and full of grace, brings to Princess Diana a complexion that the script slights for a more superficial romantic angle.
The biopic only briefly touches on Diana’s desire for privacy away from the prying paparazzi, as well as her humanitarian work in the mid-1990s to ban land mines. Interestingly, these are also the most compelling sections of the film, which directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel (Downfall). Ultimately, the soapy romance between Diana and Haznat (Naveen Andrews) turns Diana into a clumsy, corny trifle,...

Here's a great Disney villain rendition of the "Cell Block Tango" number from Chicago. It was done by a talented group of people gathered together by American Idol finalist Todrick Hall. It also stars fellow Idol alums Pia Toscano and Adam Lambert, as well as Broadway star Shoshana Bean, Make it or Break It's Cassie Scerbo, Glee's Amber Riley, So You Think You Can Dance's Blake McGrath, and singer Kimberly Cole. They take on the roles of The Little Mermaid's Ursula, 101 Dalmatians' Cruella De Vil, Snow White's Evil Queen, Sleeping Beauty's Maleficent, Alice in Wonderland's Queen of Hearts, and The Lion King's Scar.

The internet wins big again today because here we have a drop-everything-and-watch-this-right-now mashing of some of Disney's most (dis)favored villains and the "Cell Block Tango" from "Chicago." Yes, really. Happy Tuesday!
See, "American Idol" alum Todrick Hall apparently has a thing for animated classic fairy tales and gathered up a bevy of fellow TV and/or Broadway stars (namely, Adam Lambert, Shoshana Bean, Cassie Scerbo, Amber Riley, Blake McGrath, Kimberly Cole and Pia Toscano) to create this crossover between the familiar musical number about a jail full of murderers and the House of Mouse's very finest baddies just in time for Halloween.
Now we know who the real divas of Disney are.
First up is Cruella de Vil — which, if this is what the studio's new live-action movie on her'll be like, go ahead and count us in — who asked for spots not dots from her henchmen-turned-victims, Jasper and Horace.

Hitting the red carpet for their signature Halloween gig in New York City, former "Jersey Shore" starlets, Nicole Polizzi and Jenni “JWoww” Farley attended the Snooki and JWoww Halloween Event: "Night Of The Living Drag."
Straight out of "Alice in Wonderland" and "Game of Thrones," Jenni and Nicole posed for multiple photos tonight (October 25), each dressed in their own iconic queen costumes. "Snooki" took the look of a sort of ice maiden, clad all in white from head to foot. JWoww stood tall and regal, looking like the ferocious Queen of Hearts.
Huffington Post describes the event, writing, "'Night Of The Living Drag,' presented by beloved party promoter Brandon Voss, MTV and Logo TV, will be a three-story zombie Halloween party like no other slated to take place this Friday, Oct. 25 in New York City."
Both Snooki and JWoww tweeted about, and took pictures of the affair on Instagram.

The winners of the Academy's annual Nicholls Fellowship in Screenwriting rarely get too much attention, gien that these new writers and their scripts are completely unknown quantities. Still, it's worth keeping these names in mind, since every now and then, a Nicholls winner makes it to the screen with some success. One of 2010's choices, for example, was Destin Daniel Cretton's much-beloved indie "Short Term 12"; 1992 winner Susannah Grant went on to write the Oscar-nominated script for "Erin Brockovich." Perhaps similar things await the writers of this year's five winners: "Legion," "Joe Banks," "Jersey City Story," "Queen of Hearts" and...

ABC premiered "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland" Thursday (Oct. 10), a spinoff of its popular family program "Once Upon a Time." This iteration takes place in pre-curse Wonderland, though like its predecessor, the show is full of mash-ups and not strictly telling the Lewis Carroll story with which you may or may not be familiar.
To clarify something we've seen some confusion about -- the female villain in "Ouat in Wonderland" is the Red Queen (Emma Rigby, pictured above), not to be confused with the Queen of Hearts, who we all know is Cora, Regina's mother. In Carroll's books, the Queen of Hearts is from "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and the Red Queen is from "Through the Looking-Glass and What Alice Found There."
You may have noticed the Red Queen's chess piece palace (which is awesome) -- that's because she is the Red Queen from a chess game. Looking-Glass Land...

If you're a devotee of the works of Lewis Carroll, "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland" will probably make you cringe more than once. If, however, you're a fan of the original "Once Upon a Time" -- and of smart, competent female heroes -- you'll probably find a good deal to like in ABC's new series.
The story of a grown-up Alice (Sophie Lowe), who has been haunted by her memories of Wonderland ever since visiting as a little girl, features sumptuous visuals and a couple of strong central performances from Lowe and Michael Socha as the Knave of Hearts. It's a little weaker on the villainous side of things, unfortunately, and its central romance is less than swoon-inducing at the outset. All the better to create a triangle, perhaps.
"Wonderland" isn't a spinoff of "Ouat" per se, at least not in the way we usually think of them. "Once...

The Diana director is kidding himself if he thinks that we're still mourning the 'Queen of Hearts'
The British have upset film-maker Oliver Hirschbiegel, who's expressed his "devastation" over the mauling of his biopic of Princess Diana, starring Naomi Watts. It has not done too well commercially, either. In Diana's opening week, it finished fifth in the box offices; a week later, its audiences halved. Hirschbiegel said that the critical reaction was similar to what newspapers said about the real Diana when she was alive: "Really vile things. So I guess I succeeded."
Hirschbiegel also said: "In all other places where it's opened – in Poland, the Czech Republic, Turkey and Slovakia – it's been very strong. I think, for the British, Diana is still a trauma they haven't come to terms with." Well deflected, Mr Hirschbiegel, but that doesn't make it true.
Downfall showed that Hirschbiegel is a gifted director.

Movie: Diana; Cast: Naomi Watts, Naveen Andrews, Douglas Hodge, Charles Edwards, Geraldine James, Juliet Stevenson, Cas Anvar; Director: Oliver Hirschbiegel; Rating: *1/2 stars - A tepid telling of the Princess Diana tale.
The story of the late Queen of Hearts and Princess of Wales, Diana, has been an open book and the expectation from this tale is colossal.
Unfortunately, Director Oliver Hirschbiegel's "Diana" inspired by British journalist, Kate Schnell's 2001 book, "Diana: Her Last Love," does not attempt to place her within any historical or political period. Instead, the film pans the dramatic last two years of Diana's.

The Mouse House is spinning their fairy-tale classics into live-action box-office gold faster than Rumpelstiltskin. Next May, Walt Disney Studios will release Maleficent, told from the perspective of Sleeping Beauty‘s purple-robed villain with Angelina Jolie in the starring role. A live-action Cinderella movie, directed by Kenneth Branagh, is in production as well and has its sights set for a 2015 release. Disney is also making an adaptation of Stephen Sondheim’s musical Into the Woods – a story that features characters like Jack (from his beanstalk fame) and Little Red Riding Hood. Oh, and television affiliate ABC has hit it big with the similarly-themed Once Upon a Time.
The Disney Vault is being opened further to creative live-action variations of other studio classics – even those that have already received the treatment. Yesterday, the studio announced that Cruella de Vil, the cleverly-named fur-hunting antagonist from 101 Dalmatians, will get a solo feature. Glenn Close,...

It’s no secret we love Adam Lambert and the energy and joy he brings to the otherwise sterile, manufactured world of modern pop music. But he’s such a worldwide whirling dervish that it’s sometimes difficult to keep track of where and when he touches down. Hence our weekly feature Hump Day With Adam Lambert, which will hopefully keep us up-to-date with his appearances, performances, and interviews. And on those weeks when Adam’s talents lie dormant, we bring you classic pics and performances.
Adam performed with Queen over the weekend, and we’ve got some special pics on page two. We’ll start with some tweets from Adam’s Twitter Account as well as pics and captions from Adam’s Instagram Account.

Oscar-nominated actress Naomi Watts plays the "Queen of Hearts" in this portrait of Princess Diana during the last two years of her life. Separated from Prince Charles, she finds true love with Pakistani heart surgeon Dr Hasnat Khan (Lost's Naveen Andrews) and discovers her vocation as a campaigning humanitarian. Director Oliver Hirschbiegel (Downfall) chronicles the joy and heartache of the princess, based on the book Diana: Her Last Love by journalist Kate Snell.

This morning we got the first teaser trailer for Grace of Monaco starring Nicole Kidman, but a week ago another princess had her debut as Diana starring Naomi Watts and directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel (Downfall) had its premiere in London and the reviews were not kind. Like Grace, Diana has so far avoided the fall film festival circuit, deciding to have a gala screening at the Zurich Film Festival, which runs from September 26 - October 6, instead of play the Telluride, Toronto or Venice Film Festivals. If the early reviews are any indication it's quite obvious why. Over at The Daily Mirror, David Edwards called the film "fabulously awful" and "cheap and cheerless", casting Princess Di "as a sad-sack singleton that even Bridget Jones would cross the street to avoid." And, though I don't really get the comparison or the choice of actors, he says of Naomi Watts's performance, "Wesley...

We all have our own version of Diana, and that's the problem. As a new film opens, it's time to let her go
'I hesitate to use the term 'car crash drama'," wrote this newspaper's Peter Bradshaw last week of the new Diana biopic directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel and starring Naomi Watts, "but the awful truth is that, 16 years after that terrible day in 1997, she has died another awful death." The film has been universally panned by critics, with Bradshaw going on to describe Watts as looking "like she's in a two-hour Spitting Image sketch scripted by Jeffrey Archer", and the Times calling the whole project "atrocious and intrusive". If the film is indeed as poorly put together as the trailer, then I will not be going to see it, despite a long-held fascination with what Channel 4 once tastelessly described as "the woman behind the wardrobe".

She’s currently braving festival reactions to her portrayal of the Queen of Hearts in Diana, but for a new job, Naomi Watts wants to work with Oscar-winning documentarian Errol Morris. She’s in talks to star in his new thriller, Holland, Michigan.Written by Andrew Sodroski, the plot details are mostly under wraps, but Deadline has learned that it’s set in the suburbs and will be laced with pitch-black humour. While it’s unusual to see Morris not making a documentary these days, he does have form in fictional filmmaking, and is attached to at least two other projects, including Freezing People Is Easy. With Diana due here on September 20, Watts will follow that with St. Vincent alongside Melissa McCarthy and Bill Murray, and Alejandro González Iñárritu’s theatrical comedy Birdman. She will not, however, be starring in Werner Herzog’s Gertrude Bell biopic Queen Of The Desert,...

Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) is the quintessential evil queen, right up there with The Queen from Snow White and the Queen of Hearts in Alice in Wonderland. Or is she..? Throughout Game of Thrones we have been given clues as to Cersei’s motivations and character, and by the end of Season 3 she has become, partially at least, a sympathetic character.
While Cersei was not involved with the Walder-Frey-Marry-One-Of-My-Daughters plotline, which famously leads to the gruesome ‘Red Wedding’; that plot really drove home that point that in this world women are only worth how beautiful they are. Even Robb Stark, one of the so-called good guys, was horrified at the thought of having to marry one of Frey’s ugly daughters. Edmure Tully is loath to the idea as well, until, much to everyone’s surprise and relief, his bride is revealed to be beautiful. Even writers in our own world,...
