It seems that GHOST TRAIN was the first-ever episode of AMAZING STORIES and as such it was directed by the man who originated the series, Steven Spielberg. The story is about an old man haunted by memories of an train crash that he inadvertently caused decades ago and the way in which his mind manages to summon a ghostly copy of the train in the present day.
Really, this self-contained story encapsulates everything that's wrong about the latter-day Spielberg as director: he's obsessed with special effects and not much else. Thus the story of GHOST TRAIN is light and ill-formed and the whole thing just seems to be an excuse for the special effects showcase at the climax. It's an uneven piece for sure and aside from getting the chance to see Lukas Haas (WITNESS) in support it really doesn't have much going for it.
