Episode 5 introduces Father Timothy Flotsky
kevinolzak18 April 2010
This episode introduces us to Father Timothy Flotsky (Sal Viscuso), a Catholic priest that Corinne has been in love with since the fifth grade. This is the main reason she's been out and about all hours of the night, deciding to move in with Peter, Burt's tennis playing son, who's been sleeping with all of his students, even Mrs. Sheila Fine (Nita Talbot), who discovers Jessica in Peter's bedroom while she herself hides in the bathroom. Eunice discovers Jodie's relationship with a pro quarterback, and reveals she's been dating a married Congressman, using his campaign as cover. Both are amazed that they would like each other as adults, as Eunice despised Jodie for always stealing her clothes. Mary convinces Burt to accompany her on a visit to sex psychiatrist Dr. Medlow (Byron Webster) to try and figure out why he cannot make love to her, the doctor casually revealing that his own troubles stemmed from a Playboy bunny. Burt cannot divulge the truth to either of them at this time, but does show an interest in female sex surrogates.

It's terrific fun.

Jodie bumps into his cousin Eunice at a restaurant, and confides in her about his relationship with Dennis. Burt and Mary seek some professional help about his little problem. Corrine takes to the confessional, despite not being a Catholic.

It's joyous, wonderful comedy, there has been no lull in this first series, it continues to be hilarious. I am just loving Burt's reactions to Jodie's revelations. It's the weakest episode so far, but it's still terrific.

The counselling session was a riot, seriously funny, Corrine's visit to the Priest was also hilarious, it's so over the top, it's a joy.

Benson was initially my favourite character, and I still adore his cutting wit and timing, but I have to be honest, Burt is very quickly catching him up, the guy is hilarious, what a funny man, his delivery and timing are tenebrous.

9/10.

Burt is best.

Episode 5 isn't exactly the funniest of the series so far, with Corinne's storyline (she's in love with a Catholic priest) and Jodie and Eunice's chance meeting at a restaurant failing to deliver the big laughs. That said, Burt (Richard Mulligan) once again provides the show with a couple of hilarious moments, this time during his visit with wife Mary (Cathryn Damon) to sex psychiatrist Dr. Medlow (Byron Webster): Burt hiding behind a pot plant is hilarious, and when the doc suggests using a sexual surrogate to help cure his impotency, Burt's reaction is priceless.

Other silliness includes the already-getting-quite-tired bedroom farce in tennis coach Peter's apartment, Danny (Ted Wass) failing to kill Burt again, and Benson (Robert Guillaume) making a fool out of Chester (Robert Mandan). The Major (Arthur Peterson) and Billy Tate (Jimmy Baio) are nowhere to be seen.
