The following story contains major spoilers about Thursday’s The Blacklist — proceed at your own peril.
Suddenly, NBC’s Tom-centric Blacklist spinoff is making a lot more sense.
In Thursday’s episode, Ryan Eggold’s Tom was horrified to learn that Liz (aka his almost-bride, played by Megan Boone) died following the birth of their daughter. The tragedy leaves Tom a widower and a single father. It also intensifies the rivalry between him and Edi Gathegi’s Mr. Solomon, the baddie indirectly responsible for Liz’s death and — not so coincidentally — the primary antagonist in the aforementioned spinoff.

The X-Files‘ Dana Scully may not be immortal, but wouldn’t it have been nice if her mother were?
As many X-‘Philes guessed — and TVLine feared — Margaret Scully dies in the revival’s fourth hour, her death a painful tearing-away of Dana’s one constant: No matter what insanity Mulder was up to from week to week during the original run, Mama Scully always had a gripping hug and some nonsense-free advice for her only remaining daughter. She was the voice of reason when a delusional Dana pulled her gun in “Wetwired.” She was a bedside regular throughout her daughter’s cancer arc.

Baby Blues: Berg’s Troubled and Troubling Feature Debut
Treated to a chilly reception following its premiere at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival last spring, the feature debut of documentarian Amy Berg will see a theatrical release amidst the encroaching fanfare of her next highly provocative doc concerning teen sex rings in Hollywood, An Open Secret, hitting theaters only a few weeks later. The timing is certainly convenient for Every Secret Thing, perhaps a move to overshadow the critiques of her latest, as Berg seems noticeably less comfortable in the realm of narrative storytelling, especially if you’ve seen her hailed work on Deliver Us From Evil and West Memphis Three, now part of a growing body of work haunted by the specter of sexual transgressions involving preadolescents. This latest is based on a novel by Laura Lippman, a mystery writer who began as a journalist, which seems an inspired...

There are a lot of stories to be told involving zombies, but cinema is not often the place where new stories are told. For every slice of brow-beating originality like World War Z, there are a few dozen made-for-pennies films that go by something along the lines of Zombies vs. Abolitionists . But there.s no need to come up with new zombie movies so long as there are George Romero films to remake. And the upcoming Day of the Dead remake from Millennium Films has landed its director in Mark Tonderai, best known for Jennifer Lawrence.s (arguably) worst film, last year.s House at the End of the Street. I guess it makes sense that he.s the guy they hired, since he co-wrote the script with Lars Jacobson, who wrote and directed 2008.s pitch black thriller Baby Blues. It will be produced by Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman,...

Cradle Will Fall aka Baby Blues, the debut feature from the team of Lars Jacobson and Amardeep Keleka, is based (very loosely) on the true story of Andrea Yates – a Texan mother who drowned her five children in the bath in 2001 and is a story of post partum depression taken to the horrific slasher movie extreme. The film is most definitely not for the motherly types out there. With her truck driving husband constantly out on the road, a young mother (Colleen Porch) struggles to raise her three young children alone on a secluded farmhouse. Already suffering from post partum depression, the pressure of caring for her three children causes her to undergo a psychotic break and triggers a filicidal rampage. The only person capable of stopping her murderous attack is her eldest child,...

The Parents Television Council fired another volley today at one of its favorite targets: adult-themed cartoons that also attract kids. The activist group called for "sweeping reform" of the TV content rating system as a study it released points to what it says are "shocking levels" of sex and drug references in primetime on animation channels that are popular with kids between 12 and 17. “Adult content isn’t just creeping into the cartoons that kids today are watching the most; it has overtaken much of that animated programming," PTC president Tim Winter says. "Our data demonstrates that today’s norm is profanity-laden storylines involving everything from rape and cocaine to STDs and crystal meth." PTC is especially upset with programming on Turner's Cartoon Network and Adult Swim: The report, titled Cartoons Are No Laughing Matter, gave each an "F" grade for their handling of adult-themed animation. Disney Channel and Nick At...

Disney has hired Karl Gajdusek to rewrite their upcoming Joseph Kosinski project Horizons (formerly titled Oblivion). Gajdusek recently wrote the Nicolas Cage-Nicole Kidman thriller Trespass.
Kosinski (Tron Legacy) came up with the concept for the film which is "a sci-fi actionner centering on a soldier assigned to patrol a desolate planet who meets a mysterious traveler." Disney is partnering with Radical Pictures to bring the film to the screen. William Monahan (The Departed and Kingdom of Heaven) wrote the first draft of the script.
Gajdusek was responsible for Unknown, starring Liam Neeson and is currently writing the thriller, Cradle Will Fall, that Unique Pictures is producing for Screen Gems.

After seeing the previews for “Worried Baby Blues,” I was sure this was going to be a super fun episode. Instead, a more serious tone was taken between the pregnancy and Travis’ case.
I had been looking forward to this awesome calendar shoot, yet somehow it was over in the first few minutes of the show. This definitely could have been more enjoyable and I wish it had carried on longer. Everyone looked great, especially Lewis in his Santa suit.
A lot of the secondary characters were back, bringing storylines with them... well, mostly. Jake returned with his involvement in Travis’ case; Red made moves on Vanessa; and Derrick was just... there. I do have to admit that the kiss between Red and Vanessa was hot. They have much more chemistry than she possesses with Derrick.
There was a lot of focus on Charlotte’s pregnancy, with Savannah giving the news to her mom.

So I’m sitting here recovering from a bad haircut (thank god for Hats!), and thinking thank god for television and attractive people who can’t see me! More on topic, “Two and a Half Men” turned out to be a great episode, with both humour and mystery, and lots of brotherly bonding time. We’re introduced to probably a big part of the season arc, and it’s all very exciting. Let’s take a look at it…
Cause young blonde women never die on television…
The episode opens with the redshirts of the week, this time a young (blonde, of course) woman and a baby... and of course you know that at least the baby will survive because television doesn't kill babies unless it's Battlestar Galactica. The woman, however, is brutally slaughtered in front of the poor thing, and then the monster makes off with it. Cue mystery!

Rising British actress Carey Mulligan ("An Education," "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps") is reportedly close to signing onto the horror feature "Cradle Will Fall" for Screen Gems reports Pajiba.
Jack Olsen penned the script about a psychologically disturbed surrogate mother who decides to keep both the baby and the husband. The report also lists Kate Winslet and Cate Blanchett being sought to play the mother, Adrien Brody as the father, and both Gary Fleder and Mark Pellington up for director.
Mulligan's involvement depends upon a script rewrite says the source, but Mulligan's reps have denied the whole report over at Movieline. Let us wait and see how this pans out.

I’d be hard pressed to think of a hotter name in cinema right now than the stunning and gifted Carey Mulligan.
After breaking through with the hit film, An Education, the actress is a frontrunner to pick up the biggest role in Hollywood, the lead in the upcoming film, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and will next be seen in films like Never Let Me Go, Sam Mendes’ On Chesil Beach, and even Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.

Though we were totally in favor of Carey Mulligan boarding the thriller Cradle Will Fall -- in which she'd potentially steal Kate Winslet's husband and adopted baby, if producers assembled their dream cast -- it looks like it's not going to happen. Mulligan's reps just reached out to Movieline to insist that while the in-demand actress has a host of potential projects in front of her, she isn't attached to Cradle Will Fall at all. Julie Bowen, your move.

At the ripe old age of 25, Carey Mulligan has earned an Academy Award nomination and quickly cemented her reputation as one of the best young actresses working in film. However, accolades and praise does not necessarily put food on the table and shoes on the feet. According to Pajiba, Mulligan is apparently really close to starring in a thriller from Sony’s shlocky distribution arm, Screen Gems.
Mulligan is very close to starring in Cradle Will Fall, a thriller about a surrogate mother who wants to keep the baby and husband for herself. Or in other words, your typical Lifetime movie of the week. Pajiba states that Screen Gems is sending the script out to actors like Kate Winslet, Cate Blanchett and Adrien Brody and directors like Mark Pellington and Gary Felder, but the future of this project rests on Mulligan and writer Jack Olsen’s shoulders.

Pajiba reports that Carey Mulligan is thisclose to signing on to Cradle Will Fall, a thriller about a surrogate who gets a little too attached to the family she's carrying a baby for. Basically, it's the newest entry in what Movieline likes to call the "crazy white bitch" genre, and though some bloggers are tsk-tsking Mulligan for sinking to such fare, here's why it's exactly the right move for her.

Carey Mulligan -- the radiant It girl of Hollywood after her Oscar nominated turn in An Education and her upcoming roles in two of this possible year's Oscar contenders, Wall Street 2 and Never Let Me Go -- is all but on board Screen Gems' Cradle Will Fall, so we're told by The Hollywood Cog.
The film, which is a priority for the studio, is being fast-tracked and is currently in the casting stage, though Mulligan's participation is contingent upon a script polish of a Jack Olsen script (formerly titled Within).
The film itself, which is about a baby's surrogate who becomes obsessed with wanting the baby and the husband for herself -- smacks of The Hand that Rocked the Cradle, but one would imagine there's more to it if Mulligan is interested. There's no director attached as of yet, but Screen Gems is clearly searching for someone...

Baby Blues (2008) Synopsis: A mother of four intends to become a mother of none after she suffers a psychotic break related to her post-partum depression. Triggered by the suspicion that her truck-driver husband is off cheating, her mind snaps sending her into a rage against her young children. Inspired by true events. (Or so they say) Killer Scene: When it comes to kids in films, all too often they get a free pass, which is why the first time the mother kills one of her children, it's shocking and unsuspecting. Sure, you knew she was trying to do it. But actually talking your child back to you only to beat and kill them? Killer and cold, indeed. KillSheet Violence: Much of the violence is just off-screen, but as its directed towards young children (infants, four year olds, nine year old) it's rather off-putting. There's child slapping, stabbings, pitch forks, knife slashes and cruelty towards animals. Sex:...

If you feel like you've seen this week's new slasher flick "The Stepfather" before, you probably have, even if you're not a fan of the 1987 original starring "Lost"'s Terry O'Quinn. That's because the family-bands-together-to-fend-off-the-one-member-who-turns-on-the-rest trope is at the heart of dozens of horror movies.
Need proof? Here's a list of ten different types of immediate and extended family members and a notable cinematic example of each going medieval on their loved ones.
Killer Mom
I'd wager that everybody has said "My parents are crazy!" at least once in their lives. But the filicidal mother in 2008's "Baby Blues" is so far gone into Crazytown that she'll make you want to call your own mom to apologize for ever implying she was nuts. Colleen Porch plays the killer in question, an exhausted mother of four with a truck-driving husband, who snaps one day and begins picking off her own children slasher movie-style; at one point,...

There is a theory about human sexuality that states that all people are born inherently bi-sexual and that it is sociological factors that determine whether we explore all of our true desires. While not widely accepted among academics, adherents to the theory often cite ancient Rome as proof of their belief. Here, bi-sexuality was not only tolerated, it was the norm. A new book is bound to set off a Towering Inferno of controversy among fans of Paul Newman precisely because it delves into these issues in the context of how they affected the behavior of one of the screen's most enduring legends. Author Darwin Porter, who specializes in unveiling clues to hidden homosexual lifestyles among straight screen legends, claims in his new book Paul Newman: The Man Behind the Baby Blues that the beloved Oscar winner had countless dalliances with other men in his early years in the film industry.

The release of Whiteout has been postponed more times than we can keep track of, but now that it's back on track for September 11th, Warner Bros. is pulling out all the stops to promote it, including a brand new poster featuring a close-up of Kate Beckinsale that's sure to leave a large portion of the male population breathless.
MySpace as a whole may have seen better days, but its Trailer Park has been delivering the goods lately, which is where this latest Whiteout promo item was found. In case you've forgotten, Beckinsale stars as a U.S. Marshall assigned to Antarctica who has three days to solve a murder before the continent plunges into the darkness of winter.

“Cradle Will Fall” marks the debut of co directors Lars Jacobson and Amardeep Kaleka, and is based upon the true story of Andrea Yates, a Texan mother who drowned her five young children in 2001 while suffering from depression. How closely the film follows the actual events is debatable, since Jacobson and Kaleka have taken an overtly horror-friendly approach, focusing on slash and stalk sequences and gore murders rather than attempting to deliver a psychological examination of the woman’s mental breakdown, and clearly showing the influence of a variety of genre classics. The film is being released on region 2 DVD via Momentum Pictures, and is one of the rare examples of a production arguably benefiting from a title change, as although “Cradle Will Fall” may sound somewhat generic, it is infinitely more appropriate than the bizarre gag-like original moniker “Baby Blues”. The film follows actress Colleen Porch (also in “I Know Who Killed Me...

A new biography of Paul Newman has suggested that the late actor was bisexual and had an affair with James Dean. Darwin Potter's new book Paul Newman: The Man Behind The Baby Blues includes a quote supposedly from Marlon Brando claiming that Newman had relationships with members of both sexes on the set of his films, The Globe reports. Brando is quoted as saying: "He never fooled me. Paul Newman had just as many on-location affairs as the rest of us, (more)...

Actor Paul Newman passed away less than a year ago at the age of 83 and now that he's gone writer Darwin Porter is releasing a book in which Marlon Brando says that Newman was bisexual and had affairs with men. Porter interviewed Brando before "The Godfather" star died in 2004 and waited until now to release a book that may tarnish a legend's reputation, knowing that Newman will not be able to dispute the allegations. In his book, "Paul Newman: The Man Behind The Baby Blues," Porter quotes Brando as saying, "He never fooled me. Paul Newman had just as many on-location affairs as the rest of us, and he was just as bisexual as I was. But, where I was always getting caught with my pants down, he managed to do it in the dark." A truck driving father heads out on a run at a most inconvenient time when his wife happens to be on the brink of a mental breakdown. With three children and a young baby, "Mommy Dearest" is left to deal with her life of isolation on her own. If you can't handle mothers killing babies, do not watch this movie. Baby Blues features a plotline of post-partum depression that starts out uber-realistic in showing the mothers' psychotic breakdown. It's "delivery" is so tense and scary that I honestly have not been this frightened in a movie for a long time.
This disturbing vein continues throughout the movie, however it shifts from realism to flat out slasher mode and thankfully so. I found myself talking out loud to the children and yelling at the screen or just simply had my hand over my mouth in outright fear expectancy. Colleen Porch is simply terrifying.
