"I'm not gonna be around for much longer..." "Don't say that." Bulldog Film Distribution from the UK has released an official trailer for an indie British crime thriller titled Looted, which originally premiered at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival late last year. Looted is directed by up-and-coming filmmaker Rene van Pannevis, whose short film Jacked won the BIFA in 2016. The film is a semi-autobiographical account of Rene's own experiences with his father - and living on the fringes of a criminal group as a young man. Rob lives his life at 100mph, carefully balancing carjacking schemes and joyrides and caring for his dying father. But one risky job could bring it all crashing down. The film stars Charley Palmer Rothwell as Rob, with Thomas Turgoose, Morgane Polanski, Anders Hayward, Stephen Uppal, and Tom Fisher. This seems like a well-made, worthwhile UK film with some excellent performances leading the way.

Those of a certain generation of people who thrive when they hear songs like Boyz II Men’s “Motownphilly” or Tony! Toni! Toné!’s “Feels Good” or Bobby Brown’s “My Prerogative”. There’s an incomparable sense of nostalgia when any song by Guy, Jade, Troop or the iconic Bell Biv DeVoe hits the airwaves. That era of music known as New Jack Swing is the subject of the new six-part podcast series “Jacked: The Rise of New Jack Swing” hosted and produced by Taraji P. Henson. Barry Michael Cooper will serve as a consulting producer. Wondery and Universal Music Group (Umg) will partner to produce the series which will premiere on November 17 on wherever you listen to podcasts.
Jacked will be written by Rico Gagliano and Andy Hermann and focus on the rise and fall of the New Jack Swing genre. The series will focus on the complex relationships...

Variety reports that Stephen Dorff has signed on to star in Zaytoun, a movie that’s being co-produced by the United Kingdom and Israel, with a script by Palestinian screenwriter Nader Rizq. Set in the year 1982, the film sees Dorff playing David, an Israeli fighter pilot who’s shot down over Beirut and forms an alliance with a 10-year-old Palestinian refugee as they both try to make their way home through war-torn Lebanon. Shooting begins on March 12th; Eran Riklis (Lemon Tree) is directing.
Zaytoun will be the first production under the new UK-Israel co-production treaty which was ratified in November of last year, while distribution rights are already being handled for both the French-speaking territories as well as Israel itself, with no mention of a distribution deal set for the UK or North America. Expect that to be handled later on, possibly after the movie wraps or has already seen release in these areas.

Title: Carjacked Directed by: John Bonito Starring: Maria Bello and Stephen Dorff Running time: 89 minutes, Rated R, Available on standard DVD A single mother and her 8 year old son are kidnapped by an escaped bank robber who is trying to find a ride to his partner. The mousy ex wife of an abusive man must do what she can to protect her son and survive the night, riding in her beat up car with a dangerous sociopath. To summarize, this movie was boring and lame. Maria Bello’s character was so frustratingly idiotic, I wanted to punch her in the head for being stupid. Her character wants to protect...

*full disclosure: a quote written by this reviewer is featured on the rear box cover of this film (seen left and top, first panel.
Director: John Bonito.
Writers: Michael Compton and Sherry Compton.
Cast: Maria Bello, Stephen Dorff and Joanna Cassidy.
Carjacked is an interesting film to this reviewer mainly because this is the first release to feature a quote from 28Dla on the cover. The quote taken by Anchor Bay Films is a sum up of some of the early promotional material. However, the film itself is very mediocre despite some great acting from Maria Bello and Stephen Dorff. Slow pacing in the early frames and a ridiculous character transformation in the finale sank this film's chances of becoming anything special or believable.
Golden Globe nominee Maria Bello plays Lorraine, a meek single mother of one boy. She attends a woman's support group at night while scrounging for gas money on her own.

The final tally of producers on Carjacked, from co-producers on up to executive producers, is eighteen; eighteen individuals who must have seen potential in a first feature script from two unknown writers. Or perhaps it was landing the director , John Bonito, that inspired confidence, whose only other project was the WWE film The Marine, starring John Cena. Whatever it was that brought so many people to the table on this project, it was all an illusion. Carjacked is a truly bad film, and it’s hard to see how even on the page before production began, it was anything but.

The official site for John Bonito’s “Carjacked” has released the first trailer for the film, which features Maria Bello meeting Stephen Dorff, Maria Bello being terrorized by Stephen Dorff, before Maria Bello decides to fight back against Stephen Dorff. Previously titled Carjacked, Jacked has a menacing new film poster, which shows Stephen Dorff as Roy, menacing actress Maria Bello (Lorraine) and her young son (Connor Hill).
Actor Stephen Dorff has shown a resurgence in his career with dramatic central roles in Felon (2008) and Sofia Coppola's Somewhere (2010). Jacked looks like a continuation of this streak. In the picture, Dorff plays Roy a man on the run from a recent robbery and he uses his ex-wife and son to get over the Mexican border. But, the tagline reminds viewers that "vengeance is hers!" Enjoy an update on one of the more exciting thrillers to come out in 2011. An updated synopsis and release date are below.
The synopsis for Jacked is here:
"Lorraine is a working single mom with an abusive ex-husband who, even after separation, continuously creates problems for her and her 8-year-old son, Chad. On a seemingly normal evening,...

Toronto -- In a move that injects a new contender into this year's Oscar race, Lionsgate has picked up North American rights to John Cameron Mitchell's "Rabbit Hole," which had its world premiere Monday at the Toronto International Film Festival.
As the festival winds to its Sunday close, other distributors were lining up films that could play next year's festival circuit: IFC Films said it has acquired worldwide rights, except Canada, to Barry Avrich's documentary "Unauthorized: The Harvey Weinstein Project," and Sony Pictures Classics said it picked up North American rights to Pedro Almodovar's latest movie, gothic thriller "The Skin I Inhabit," now filming.
Additionally, Anchor Bay Films has secured rights to "Carjacked," a thriller being directed by John Bonito ("The Marine").
Lionsgate will release "Rabbit" by year's end, and based on positive reactions here, that should make the movie a player during awards season.

Maria Bello and Stephen Dorff are lined up to star in Peter Medak’s upcoming indie thriller Carjacked, which goes into production in September.
The film follows a mother and child, who are carjacked by a bank robber on the run, “who has no intention of letting them go.” To me, it sounds like The Night of the Hunter meets Shuttle or Cujo.
However, Medak is a director known for his crime dramas, so maybe he can spin gold from this tenuous premise. Dorff does intense and dangerous well enough and Bello proves interesting no matter what film she’s in. Yet, their casting seems to steer the film in a different direction than would the previous line-up: Ron Perlman and Saffron Burrows.
For one thing, Perlman often plays tough guys with a soft center, but Dorff is most noted for his roles as an unhinged antagonist. Then, Burrows is...

The director Peter Medak has had an interesting career. While he's done mostly TV for the past few years, he made a mark early on with the unusual Peter O'Toole film The Ruling Class. Since then he's made a bit of crap here and there, as well as a few other good, or at least interesting movies, like The Changeling, The Krays and Romeo is Bleeding. Now he'll direct Stephen Dorff and Maria Bello in a thriller called Carjacked. The Wrap says that the Michael and Sherry Compton script is about "a single mother (Bello) and her child who are carjacked by a thief (Dorff) who has no intention of letting them go." That's all we've got on this one so far, beyond the fact that Ron Perlman and Giovanni Ribisi had previously been linked to Dorff's role, and that Saffron Burrows would have played the single mom opposite Perlman,...

Stephen Dorff may be on the verge of something big as Sofia Coppola's next film Somewhere prepares to debut this fall, starring Dorff as a Hollywood star reconnecting with his young daughter while he lounges around the Chateau Marmont. Dorff has had roles in some well-received movies over the last few years, including Public Enemies and World Trade Center, but it's been a while since one of his leading man roles carried much weight. It looks like the Somewhere momentum may leading him good places, though, as Dorff has signed on to star opposite Maria Bello in Carjacked, a thriller that will be directed by Peter Medak. According to The Wrap Dorff will play a thief who carjacks a woman with her child, and holds them hostage for some reason. Honestly the premise doesn't sound like all that much, but I'm rooting for Dorff these days and hope he...

Bloody-Disgusting spoke exclusively to Ron Perlman last week for updates on a few of the horror-related projects he has in the work. We already gave you the scoop on Bubba Nosferatu (read about it here), so today we'll see what the actor had to say on Mutant Chronicles, Dark Country 3-D, Hellboy 3, Carjacked and Gatekeeper. How's that for an afternoon of updates? Mutant Chronicles is currently available on VOD services and will hit select theaters this Friday. Perlman discusses the plot: "What these guys came up with was rather smart and quite believable. The world was finally bereft of all nationalities and patriotism and was completely broken down into economic turns. Its all corporate, which is a soulless and heartless reality. And then of course, because these guys have such a bloodlust for power and wealth, they are constantly at war with one another..." More...
