History was made on Tuesday’s live results episode of “The Voice” when Girl Named Tom from Team Kelly Clarkson and Jim & Sasha Allen from Team Ariana Grande both advanced to the Top 11. This marks the first time in 21 seasons that two groups have made it this far in the same cycle. Both emerged from a record-breaking five duos or trios advancing from the Blind Auditions.

ABC Signature, the production arm of the Disney-owned network, has re-upped its first-look deal with P3 Media, the brainchild of Emmy-winning journalist, producer and attorney Adam Ciralsky.
P3 Media is an intellectual property generator and incubator that is driven by the model of bringing IP engines in-house and churning out premium IP-driven content. Some of P3 Media’s projects in development with ABC Signature include an adaptation of Ciralsky’s Vanity Fair article “The Rise and Fall of Bitcoin Billionaire Arthur Hayes,” which Hulu bought the rights to after a competitive bidding war. It also has a limited series with Marshawn Lynch’s BeastMode Productions about finding justice for Black teen Terry Harrington, who was framed for the murder of a white police veteran. P3 Media was designed around Ciralsky’s catalog; Alex Foster (“The Voices”) helms development for P3.

Monotony isn’t a problem for the generic citizens of Free City, an open-world video game in the vein of “Grand Theft Auto,” where robberies, shootouts, and explosion are commonplace.
Within this virtual realm of bloodless violence, director Shawn Levy builds the action-packed rom-com “Free Guy,” his most thematically ambitious project yet thanks to writers Matt Lieberman (“The Christmas Chronicles”) and Zak Penn (“Ready Player One”).
Fortunately for this team, their big-budget creation evokes a bit of “The Truman Show” more than it does the dreadful “Pixels,” another picture that bet on the mass appeal of video-game culture but with an angle of nostalgia. Levy, a Hollywood regular behind the bankable “Night at the Museum” franchise, operates in eye-popping VFX set pieces and above-average comic timing, consistently landing dialogue-driven, self-aware gags.

A little boy once said “I see dead people”. In The Voices we have a little girl who can hear dead people. For better or for worse, this film is very much in the M. Night vein.
The Voices kicks off with two ladies restrained in a Saw-esque torture-basement before moving back in time to a little girl, seemingly receiving therapy from a young lady wearing sunglasses (while indoors). I am not a therapist, but I would imagine hiding your eyes from your patient is probably the last thing you would want to do. Having said all that, it turns out our therapist is blind, so that told me. We then have a rather confusing flashback after a flashback.

Somewhere under the mountain of bad ideas that combine to make up The Voices, there was probably what seemed like a good one. If blind people's hearing becomes more acute, could that mean that they are sometimes able to hear voices from the spirit world, inaudible to others? If we ignore the fact that the enhanced hearing thing is a myth and allow for the possibility of a spirit world because this is, after all, genre fiction, that seems to have something, but it is extrapolated into a story with spectacular clumsiness.

"You have the power to choose the spirit..." Vertical Entertainment has released an official trailer for The Voices, described as "this spring’s most unnerving new horror film." From filmmaker Nathaniel Nuon, The Voices already opened in Brazil last year but hasn't played at any festivals. Not to be confused with the other horror comedy The Voices from 2014 with Ryan Reynolds (which is worth a watch sometime). A young girl who grows up blind after losing her mother in an accident hears strange voices throughout her life. When she gets pregnant as an adult, she soon discovers her unborn baby has become a vessel a second chance for souls stuck in limbo to be re-born. Don't believe everything you hear. The horror film stars Valerie Jane Parker, Jenna Harvey, Jonathan Stoddard, Rezeta Veliu, Ashley Bell, Jordan Ladd, and Leslie Easterbrook. It looks rather campy and derivative, but gets super intense...

It’s happening. It’s finally happening. What was once a particularly pervasive and aggressive Internet meme is now a reality. HBO Max’s list of new releases for March 2021 is highlighted by none other than the mythical Snyder cut.
The entity now known as Zach Snyder’s Justice League will premiere on March 18. While it was originally planned to be a four-part miniseries, this recut version of 2017’s ill-fated Justice League will in fact be a four-hour movie. But perhaps even four hours won’t be enough for fans who have been waiting years for just such an event.

Oscar-nominated director Marjane Satrapi returns to filmmaking after a five-year hiatus with “Radioactive,” a biopic of Marie Curie starring Rosamund Pike in a powerhouse performance as the famed chemist and physicist. Amazon Studios has dropped a first trailer for the film, which premieres on Prime Video on July 24.
“Radioactive,” which first bowed at the Toronto International Film Festival last September, tells the story of the pioneering scientist, beginning in the 1870s through her resonance in the 21st century, including her romantic and professional partnerships and breakthroughs in medical study that changed science forever. In late 19th-century Paris, the Polish-born Marie Sklodowska met fellow scientist Pierre Curie (Sam Riley). Together, they revolutionized the meaning of radioactivity, winning a Nobel Prize in Physics for their pioneering work, which made Curie the first woman to earn that prize. I don’t think it’s much of a secret that right now, there is a lot of uncertainty in the world, and I’m not sure how you’re feeling, but this writer could use a little levity in her life right about now. The Iranian-French filmmaker of Persepolis and Radioactive was speaking at the Glasgow Film Festival.
Iranian-French filmmaker Marjane Satrapi, the first woman to be nominated for an animation Oscar with her film Persepolis, has called for more female role models on screen.
“Women are half the population of the world so half the stories should be about us, but that’s not the case,” she said to an audience of rising writers and directors at the Glasgow Film Festival on Friday. “And the stories that are made about women have us as the cheated-on girlfriend or old and looking for love.

If I’m being totally honest, the only reasons that I was excited about having a new Grudge film was because of the involvement of director Nicolas Pesce and the stellar group of actors involved with his latest cinematic endeavor. The Grudge films, both the Japanese originals and their Us counterparts, are movies that I do have a great deal of respect for, but ultimately, they’re not really films I have strong feelings about one way or another. So, I have to admit that I was rather surprised by not only how much I enjoyed The Grudge (2020), but how much it affected me on a personal level. That was something I was not expecting, and I give Pesce and his wonderful cast all the credit for coming together to create a film that provides fans with a stellar start to a new year of horror.

In 1895 Paris, Polish immigrant Maria Salomea Skłodowska (Rosamund Pike) was already headed toward a scientific breakthrough when she met fellow researcher Pierre Curie (Sam Riley). When the two physicists first collide, she’s a coiled mass of awkward tics. “Radioactive,” directed by Marjane Satrapi, is the saga of how this blunt, fast-walking workaholic proved the existence of three things: radium, polonium (which she named for her home country) and love. Under her married name, Marie Curie, she became the first woman to win the Nobel prize, and less than a decade later, the first anyone to win two.

The first person we meet in “Ray & Liz” is elderly Ray (Patrick Romer). Alone in a tiny room, abandoned by his wife Liz (Deirdre Kelly), he has taken to his bed seemingly permanently, waking only long enough to drink as much as it takes to keep himself drunk. He keeps a photo of himself as a young man with his bride stuck to a mirror next to a religious pamphlet that delivers the only foreshadowing this film feels like giving: a Bible verse instructing children to “obey [their] parents in everything.”
“Ray & Liz,” Richard Billingham’s debut feature, punctuates its main action with visits to this room, with the rest of the quietly downcast story taking place during the 1980s, as Ray and Liz descend into poverty, despair, and alcoholism in a council flat outside of Birmingham, England. Their children — Richard and his younger brother Jason — are along for the ride,...

While aquatic horror can be fun any time of the year, there’s just something about a genre movie that pits human characters versus nature’s greatest water-bound predators during these warmer months that really puts me into the summertime mood. And with that in mind, you could say that I was already primed to enjoy Crawl even before the first bloodthirsty alligator snapped into action. Director Alexandre Aja, who already has some experience in this realm with his gore-tastic horror comedy Piranha 3D, proves here yet again that he’s a master manipulator of heightened tension and thrills, but he also delivers up a no-nonsense disaster/killer animal mash-up that doesn’t waste a single minute of its efficient 87-minute running time, and even gives us compelling characters (plus Sugar the dog!) that we give a damn about to boot.

On September 7, the unholy evil in holy guise is back in the horror thriller “The Nun,” the latest chapter stemming from James Wan’s “Conjuring” universe, with an entire film dedicated to the origin of her horrifying visage.
Audiences got their first frightful glimpse of the demonic Nun Valak, who plagued Lorraine Warren’s visions and filled her with dread in the horror hit “The Conjuring 2.” In “The Nun,” the epic battle of good vs. evil pits a priest with a dark history and a novitiate whose own past isn’t the only thing that haunts her against the blasphemy that is the Demon Nun.
The new fright-fest is directed by Corin Hardy (“The Hallow”) and produced by James Wan, and Peter Safran, the latter of whom has produced all the films in “The Conjuring” franchise.

Scaring audiences…and me…on September 7 is The Nun. Fans have been waiting for this film ever since the character was introduced. People in the cinemas got all crazy during the Annabelle: Creation sequel last summer when a photo of her showed up in the movie, with cries of “there she is, there’s The Nun.”
In a post-credits scene (Here), set in 1952, Valak, the Demon Nun, walked towards the camera in the candle-lit halls of the Cârța Monastery in Romania, as each candle slowly went out.
Even more unsettling and nightmarish is the scene where she appears during Conjuring 2.
Prepare to pray for forgiveness. Have a look at the terrifying and Creepy teaser trailer and first poster for The Nun, the chilling next chapter in The Conjuring Universe from director, Corin Hardy. Be afraid, be very afraid!

This week marks the second coming… no, not of That savior, but rather Wade Wilson—aka The Merc with a Mouth—in Deadpool 2, (read our review here), the highly anticipated sequel starring Ryan Reynolds. After haunting Ed and Lorraine Warren in Enfield, the demonic nun from The Conjuring 2 is going to get even more screen time when her own movie comes out this year, but we'll have to wait a little longer than expected to see the anticipated spinoff, as Warner Bros. has shifted its theatrical release from July to September.
Multiple sources, including Variety, report that New Line Cinema's The Nun is now scheduled to haunt theaters on September 7th, nearly two months after its previous July (Friday the) 13th release date.
Warner Bros. is likely looking to replicate the massive box office success of 2017's It movie, which was released in Us theaters on September 8th and has raked in over $700 million worldwide.

Want to enhance your horror movie? Make sure you sign up a cat...
This article comes from Den of Geek UK.
This feature contains broad spoilers for several horror movies featuring cats, including Alien, Cat People, Drag Me To Hell, Fallen, A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night, Pet Sematary and The Voices.
The relationship between humans and cats over time has given way to a number of cultural impressions and outright superstitions. Ancient Egyptians associated them with gods. In the Middle Ages, they were linked with witches and killed en masse, which probably hastened the spread of the Black Plague through the rodent population. And in the modern day, it's interchangeably lucky or not if a black cat crosses your path.
Like anything with such a wide array of symbolic links, movies have presented cats as characters in different ways over the years. It's their abiding...
