Beautiful episode.
culbergd7 October 2022
One of the best episodes. Ending scene of Cordell and Emily was chef's kiss. Heartbreaking. Really well done. Each actor got a chance to shine. Molly Hagen really captured a mother's pain and fear of a missing child. Her scenes were heart breaking. She and Jared were the best two actors in there respective scenes. This storyline is rich with possibilities and promise some really good episodes. Looking forward to the future scenes between Liam and Cordie as this story arc goes forward. Their peril will provide some interesting dialog. Brilliant story line for some really gifted actors. Highly recommend.

Intense

Warning: Spoilers
The emotions this episode invoked were intense. The loss of a father, the loss of innocence. The being here before, but this seems different.

Even the difference in Emily. She wasn't a ghost of guilt. She was his better half called upon in the time of need.

Mawline got to me the most. The fear for her son is something all parents dread. And she portrays it beautifully.

Both Bonham and Trey being the rocks as people around them need them.

Stella and August, two siblings growing up way too fast. Forced to by tragedy.

And Geri. Knowing that August needed to feel useful, not babied. But also. He needed love.

And that cliffhanger. I am very excited for where this will lead next week.

Upped Their Game
Sarah4237 October 2022
The writers took their time to build the family and their relationships these last two seasons.

So with the s3 premiere, they used all of that as the basis to take viewers on a ride, no holds barred.

Love, love, loved it.

Some scenes were rather shocking, with bone crunching realism in stunts. Others were raw emotion. And while that intensity could have been overused with a less talented cast, here it wasn't.

It was just the quick hit of adrenaline we needed to start us off.

---

Jared & Gen Padalecki both gave amazing performances as Cordell and Emily Walker. (Emily, actually an eerie reflection of Walker's thoughts channeled through the only woman he truly loved.)

Mitch Pileggi & Molly Hagan are always standouts, obviously role models to the family but also strength personified in a crisis. (Even as Abeline feels her feels and takes a moment to break down)

---

Honestly, this cast is just amazing overall.

Jeff Pierre and Keegan Allen both step up in trying to find the kidnapped Cordell. (Liam, perhaps a step too far.) Their on screen time is used wisely by the writers.

Viewers can see how Trey truly fits his new role.

And last, but not least, Ashley Reyes and Coby Bell were just amazing.

Bell as Captain James is a born leader. And Reyes' part was both a nuanced rendition of ptsd from her last partner's disappearance, as well as a competence that serves her (and the department) well.

Awesome!

Fantastic episode, perfect start of the season. It leaves you with bated breath and you can't wait to know how the story will continue. Jared is great: how he knows how to be tortured and suffer no one ever! Excellent all the cast as always. Very good choice of soundtrack, which is always perfect. I was happy to see Emily again, I missed her character in season 2. Now I'm really worried about poor Liam. I want to see if Cordell can save both of them or if we have to wait for the "cavalry" to find and rescue them. Of course we have no idea why Cordell was kidnapped and I think it will be really interesting to see the link between that and his past as a Marine.

Great premiere setting up an eventful season!

Glad we are finally seeing more of Walker being a sassy, smart and badass character! (Which we should have had more of in season2!) We dont get enough of this side of him but this episode really satisfied me!

The premiere was also well-balanced between action/suspense with Walker being tortured and the rangers looking for him (Kuddos to Jared for playing hurt so beautifully and well, we all felt his pain while watching) and dramatic scenes with how the family is dealing with his disappearance.

It was also good to see Gen back as Emily and so as Walker's voice of reason when hes lost or broken. These two definitely have great chemistry!

Cant wait to discover more about Walker's military past!

Such a solid start to season 3
Julierempel7 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Great start to what seems like will be another amazing season! I could feel the emotion from the family worried for Cordi. From the moment they realized he was gone I could immediately feel the tension and didn't it didn't lift the whole episode! As well as loving Jared's tortured scenes, always makes me feel so sorry for him with his puppy eyes! Can't wait to see what happens with the second hostage now, I think that's going to kill us all seeing those two go through what they will. I also really liked the stuff between Auggie and Stella, really well done, I can't wait to see how they all deal with this. Well done to all the cast and crew!

Unbelievable premise
cassi_b-129 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So, while I enjoy the show and love Jared Padelecki, I had to comment on just the silly premise of this episode. Here's the thing; there are far too many people that can be paid off and will actually work as a mole. Torturing someone into being loyal - in around 36 hours??? Absolutely nonsense.

Otherwise, I enjoyed most of the episode. The children continue to annoy me but the parent/grandparents make up for it. Both are such great actors. It just feels like this episode was dreamed up by someone who absolutely no clue about human nature, much less the nature of ex-military and people in law enforcement (both good and bad sides). Trust me, there is enough corruption that you don't need to resort to this nonsense that wouldn't even work anyway.

What a Mess
doug2go7 October 2022
I have enjoyed most Walker episodes but this was close to the worst - Walker is hallucinating after being captured by who knows who or why - part of the family plays the piano and monopoly , part freaks out part does nothing - Capt James make Trey a Ranger on the spot - it is apparently harder to get into a social college fraternity that to become an elite Texas Ranger - and I thought he was a Doctor for awhile and than a high school coach and than heart broken when Ramierz left and now he is hooked up with Perez - that just doesn't work for me - I have to assume this show changed show runners because this was a episodic mess.
