Story by Garth Ennis | Script & Art by Mike Wolfer | Published by Avatar Press | Distributed by Titan Books | Format: Paperback, 176pp
Garth Ennis, creator of one of my favourite comics of all time, The Boys, and the gloriously Ott ultra-violent horror comic Crossed, is back once again with another slice of horror fiction with Stitched.
Based on a story (and the original short film) by Ennis and scripted/illustrated by Mike Wolfer, whose work at Avatar has included the Night of the Living Dead and Escape of the Living Dead comics (both of which were pretty awesome – filled by blood, boobs and gore), Stitched is the story of a group of American and British soldiers trapped behind enemy lines in the Taliban controlled mountains of Afghanistan. With no food, water or supplies, the group discover that there’s much more to worry about than insurgents, as an ancient evil brings the shambling dead to life.

In the mood for a zombie-esque story with a unique twist? Saddle up for a new Crossed series. According to announcements at New York Comic Con, Garth Ennis’s crazies are coming soon to a computer near you. No, not only in the form of a web comic (Simon Spurrier and Javier Barreno have been bringing us “Wish You Were Here” for nearly a year now), but in actual live action episodes–to be directed by creator Garth Ennis himself.
If you’re not yet familiar with the terror that is the Crossed comic book series, let’s just say that it has a lot in common with Night Of The Living Dead, except instead of being dead, the infected hordes are crazed psychopaths wielding weapons and various body parts. It’s pretty intense stuff, and not for anyone easily disturbed by violence. How will it play out with real actors and makeup effects?...

Comic scribe Garth Ennis has already made the leap to writing and directing with his film Stitched, which then became a comic book series. Now, Ennis is continuing the trend with his twisted horror comic Crossed (via Cbr).
Announced at the New York Comic Con by Avatar Press Publisher William Christensen, Ennis will be writing an directing a series of Crossed 'Webisodes' which will be followed by a feature film adaptation of the comic series. They're planning on starting filming next spring with a release later in the year. Ennis said that the webisodes will serves as "little vignettes" into the world of Crossed.

Looking for an excuse to revel in blood and body parts while the rest of the world goes caroling? Trying to find something to comfort your disturbed soul during December’s holiday stress and mayhem? Since Hollywood seems to stay away from scares during the Yuletide season, look no further than your local comic shop. Comic book publishers have been delivering the goods when it comes to horror series lately, and these titles are sure to have you giggling ghoulishly from now to the New Year. So snap them up. Or, even better—hand the single issues out as holiday presents to insufferable relatives who insist on displaying “holiday cheer”. A bit of merry doom will do them good.

Writer Garth Ennis has made a name for himself over the years with his work on several acclaimed comic series including Preacher, Punisher, Hellblazer, Judgment Day and so many more.
A few months back, we reported on Ennis branching out in his career and adding the title director to his resume when he helmed the short film Stitched which centered around a group of soldiers fighting against zombies in Afghanistan.

Avatar Press has announced the November launch of an ongoing comic book series, "Stitched," by industry legend Garth Ennis and artist/writer Mike Wolfer. Released simultaneously with the Stitched DVD at comic book shops and specialty stores worldwide, the upcoming "Stitched" #1 expands upon the events of the short film, laying the groundwork for a continuing saga of American and British soldiers beset by murderous supernatural creatures. The Stitched film introduced a cast of stranded pilots and commandos, struggling through the mountains of Afghanistan and pursued by both Taliban fighters and strange, undead assailants. Adapting and building upon the film premise, the comic book series explores the root of this supernatural evil and the extent of its...

From Crossed to Caligula to Alan Moore’s Neonomicon, Avatar Press has certainly built a reputation for itself as being fearless. One might even say that their comics thrive on violent controversy. So who better join Mischief Maker Studios in releasing Stitched, the filmmaking debut of writer Garth Ennis (Preacher, The Boys), who by himself is responsible for more disturbing material than most combined runs of mainstream comics?
According to Ennis, the jump from comics to film was a natural one:
I’ve been thinking about directing films for a number of years now… I’ve written screenplays and treatments for things like Crossed, but I haven’t really devoted myself to a film project before, not the way I have with Stitched. I’ve always loved movies; my comics are much more heavily influenced by film and TV than they are by other comics.

Garth Ennis has been a highly respected comics writer for well over 20 years now, creating some of the most badass storylines for several of the best modern genre-related comic series including Preacher, The Punisher, The Boys and Hellblazer.
Now the acclaimed storyteller is taking his career in a brand-new direction: writing and directing, and Ennis celebrated the world premiere of his short film Stitched during the 2011 San Diego Comic-Con Independent Film Festival last week.
During the convention Dread Central had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Ennis about his directorial debut Stitched and how he plans to balance out his directing career alongside his career in the comic world (which he has no plans for leaving behind any time soon despite his jump into filmmaking).
Check out our video interview with Ennis below, and look for more on Stitched very soon!

During Comic-Con 2011 in San Diego, Shock had some time to sit down with the director of the short film Stitched , Garth Ennis ("Preacher"), to discuss the short as well as the possibility of a longer movie coming from the renowned comic book writer. In Stitched , three survivors of an American helicopter crash (played by actors Tank Jones, Lauren Alonzo, and Kate Kugler) struggle across the high mountains of Afghanistan. They're injured, without food, water, or medicine, and moving through Taliban-controlled territory. Among the sun-bleached rocks, they discover something worse than enemy fighters: an ancient supernatural power murderous, unstoppable, and serving a twenty-first century evil. Shock Till You Drop: I found it interesting that there will be a...

During the press interviews for Stitched , a 15-minute short film written and directed by famous comic book writer Garth Ennis, Shock asked Ennis about the status of Preacher , the long-mooted adaptation of his Vertigo. "Last I heard it was at Sony and they have DJ Caruso up to direct it. That's all I know at this point," Ennis said. Caruso signed to the film in February . The plans to make Preacher into a series, possibly on HBO, were killed off a few years ago and has been at Sony since then, Ennis said. What would Ennis like to see from a Preacher adaptation? "[A series] would give the story room to breathe. But in the end, it was an awful a lot of money in something they didn't have confidence in. And that was that." You can watch a...

Cher has announced that she's recorded a song written by Lady Gaga and Redone for her new album. Which begs the question: Are people going to now say that Cher is ripping off Madonna?
Speaking of Lady Gaga, her official YouTube channel has been suspended. Evidently, she posted video from a Japanese show she appeared on and they filed a copyright claim. Technically, she was wrong, but it's hard to see who wins from this conflict.
Kate Hudson named her son "Bing." I hope the check from Microsoft keeps her happy for his entire life.
In a move that boggles the mind, the Department of Justice has appealed the injunction halting Don't Ask, Don't Tell, and is demanding the policy be at least temporarily reinstated by this evening.
Charlaine Harris has stated that she is working on the penultimate Sookie Stackhouse novel, meaning she intends to wrap things up at the end of book thirteen.

Here's a short trailer to a interesting looking short film called Stitched directed by comic book writer Garth Ennis. The goal is to ind funding to make a full-length feature.
The film is set to premiere at San Diego Comic Con on Thursday evening, July 21, at 8:15 pm in Room 6De. Garth will be signing Stitched DVDs and his other work at times to be announced at the Avatar booth at San Diego as well.
Here's the Synopsis:

Two weeks away from the kick-off of San Diego Comic Con 2011, the official panel line-up of the first day has been released. As it was reported before, Summit will present a panel for "The Twilight Saga's Breaking Dawn Part I" in Hall H on Thursday, July 21 at 11:15 A.M. There is still no confirmation, however, on whether or not the "Twilight" trio will come.

We're less than two weeks away from the 2011 San Diego Comic Con, and convention organizers have finally released the schedule for the first day of programing. You can find the full schedule on comic-con.org [1], or after the jump I've listed the film and television highlights, which includes the Masters of the Web panel which I've been invited to be a panelist on (In full disclosure, I've been asked to be on this panel for a few years now, but I've only just recently gotten over my fear of speaking in front of large audiences). You may know Garth Ennis from all his work in the comic book world, but now he’s taking on a new role: movie writer and director.
The "Preacher" and "The Boys" writer has directed a short film, “Stitched,” which is about soldiers in Afghanistan. It's also part of a bigger picture, because it sets up a continuing comic story and another anticipated movie down the line.
Speaking with Bleeding Cool, Ennis said where the idea for the movie originated: “‘Stitched’ began as little more than a series of images, really – three little figures stumbling across a barren landscape, exhausted people struggling to survive against the odds, blood on the rocks of the mountains, and lots of frantic, close-in combat.”
“The knowledge that people have done and continue to do these things gives the war story an intensity that I don’t think can be matched,” he went on. “We...
