Warning: Spoilers
Uhtred and Brida are on the run, Uhtred vows to avenge Ragnar's death, but a lie has spread that Uhtred killed his master. The Kingdom of Wessex knows stands alone, all other kingdoms have fallen to Danish rule, Uhtred's story is known in Wessex. The Danish onslaught is relentless, in East Anglia King Edmund is mercilessly killed by Ubba. Uhtred has tracked Ubba to East Anglia and tries to explain the truth behind the death of Ragnar. Uhtrad moves in to kill Uhtred, but some early clear thinking saves his life, Brida has Ubba's Sorcerer as a bargaining tool. Back in Wessex King Aethelred denounces his drunken son as heir to the throne, he favours instead his brother Alfred. Uhtred and Brida travel to Wessex to seek audience with the King, Father Beocca speaks for him and Uhtred is first granted audience with Alfred and later King Aethelred. uhtred's story of imminent Viking attack is believed, but he and Brida are imprisoned, the battle between Danes and Wessex stands off.

Part 2 genuinely left me very excited for the remainder of the series, I think my understanding of what's going on is a little better. The same amount of fighting, and violence, it was quite thrilling in parts.

Poor Jason Flemyng! He's a totally brilliant actor, he lasted less time then Matthew Macfadyen, the screen time he did get was fantastic. That was a shocker.

We all sniggered and said the same thing when the scrolls appeared later in the episode, we were glad Brida didn't get hold of them earlier! There were some nice touches of humour throughout, it was needed and it worked.

David Dawson absolutely stole the show, his performance as Alfred was utterly brilliant, he was so watchable, I believed every word he said, and that speech about a United England, tremendous!

Loved it. 9/10

An interesting storyline though a lot of new characters were introduced and its a bit of a struggle to keep them all straight.

Some great characters introduced

Warning: Spoilers
So for some context this is my second time watching The Last Kingdom, and watching this episode was a welcoming reminder of so many characters. Leofric and Utreds banter is great the "why are you dressed as a warrior when your clearly a farmer" line got me good. Young Alfred was a sight for sore eyes, and Ethelbald is even nice to see.

This episode actually has quiet a lot going on. I loved the Ubba scene. It shows how crazy he is for the gods. I forgot to mention this in my review for the last episode, but I love how they've made the seers humans (unlike vikings making them some supernatural thing) it just feels more realistic.

This episode also show cases why Uhtred is one of my favourite protagonists of all time. His banter with Leofric and the black smith bring a smile to my face even on a second watch.

Cannot warm up to this, it is too simple and unchallenging.

Getting good

This show has great reviews and I'm warming to the storyline which leads you at a good pace.

The shaky camera work is off putting though. I was borderline travel sick in some fight scenes.
