Wattpad Webtoon Studios has hired 10 Cloverfield Lane screenwriters Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken to write a TV series adaptation of the webtoon I’m the Grim Reaper – and Deadline reports that legendary genre filmmaker Sam Raimi is on board to executive produce the show alongside Zainab Azizi and I’m the Grim Reaper creator Grave Weaver, who has a say in the development process.
I’m the Grim Reaper has the following synopsis: When Scarlet finds herself doomed to eternal punishment in Hell for a sinful life she can’t even remember, Satan himself offers her a deal: return to Earth and kill one marked sinner per day…as his Grim Reaper! Using the power of Hell, Scarlet quickly learns the ropes of being a reaper: bring in one sinner a day, regardless of their sins, and avoid the ninth circle herself. This work brings her into the path of Chase,...

“Disappear Completely” may suffer from diminishing returns, but there’s an ironic pleasure in a movie about a cursed man losing his five senses one at a time that gets gradually worse as you watch it.
Caught somewhere between Dan Gilroy’s “Nightcrawler” and Sam Raimi’s “Drag Me to Hell,” director Luis Javier Henain’s Spanish-language horror won the attention of genre fans out of Fantastic Fest 2022 but just started streaming in the U.S. on Netflix Friday, April 12. The supernatural tale of intensifying torture recounts the fate of Santiago (the unflappable Harold Torres), a tabloid photographer whose primary job seems to be hunting down crime scenes so he can snag candid shots of corpses.
We meet our nauseating anti-hero at the scene of a picturesque accident; crushed by a light pole, a young woman in yellow bleeds beautifully. She’s evocative of Evelyn McHale (look it up!) and...

Back in September, the first image from the horror film Don’t Move was unveiled. That’s the image above, which doesn’t show us anything other than the fact that the movie stars Yellowstone cast member Kelsey Asbille. Hopefully we’ll be seeing more about Don’t Move soon, though, because Variety reports that the worldwide distribution rights to the film have been acquired by the Netflix streaming service. A release date has not yet been announced.
Don’t Move is being produced by genre legend Sam Raimi. Adam Schindler and Brian Netto, who directed episodes of the Raimi-produced anthology series 50 States of Fright, directed the film from a screenplay written by T.J. Cimfel and David White, who previously wrote the 2015 home invasion movie Intruders and the recent creepy kid movie There’s Something Wrong with the Children. This film follows a seasoned killer who injects a grieving woman with a paralytic agent.

Netflix has taken worldwide rights on the horror-thriller “Don’t Move,” a new genre entry from producer Sam Raimi.
The project is led by Kelsey Asbille, breakout on the FX anthology series “Fargo” and “Yellowstone,” alongside frequent Ryan Murphy player and “The Big Short’ star Finn Wittrock.
It follows a seasoned serial killer who injects a grieving woman with a paralytic agent while the two of them are isolated deep in the forest. As the agent gradually takes over her body, she must run, hide, and fight for her life before her entire nervous system shuts down.
Filmmaking team Brian Netto and Adam Schindler directed the film, having previously delivered the Quibi serial “50 States of Fright.” T.J. Cimfel and David White of “Intruders” wrote the script.
CAA Media Finance and Capstone brokered the deal with Netflix, whose film vertical was just taken over by veteran producer Dan Lin. The streamer...

A new actress has joined the Chicago P.D. cast and is featured in upcoming episodes.

Tracy has played Detective Hailey Upton for many years, but it was revealed that the character will soon leave Chicago.
The new season of Chicago P.D. has not yet addressed the upcoming Upton exit, but narrative seeds will likely be revealed soon.

2009 is not exactly a year that horror fans remember fondly. What came out that year? Off the top of the head, not much comes up. A quick search gives us The Unborn, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, and Drag Me to Hell. Depending on who you ask, these range from ok movies to Drag Me to Hell, but not exactly memorable overall. Something happened at the end of the 2000s and horror didn’t give us much to work with for some reason. If we dig, we get better titles like The Collector, Laid to Rest, and Paranormal Activity, but their box office ranged from amazing in the case of Paranormal Activity to almost nonexistent for the others, so it was completely hit or miss, like studios didn’t know what to push and what to keep for the home video market. Another movie that had a lot of potential...

‘Drag Me to Hell’ – New Australian Blu-ray Celebrates 15 Years of Sam Raimi’s Horror Return [Review]
Of all the masters of horror that helped to reshape the genre as we know it in the ’70s and ’80s, none were more successful in branching out and achieving commercial success within the studio system than Sam Raimi. His Spider-Man trilogy laid the groundwork for the influx of comic book movies that would follow, but he was eager to return to his roots following the third installment’s turbulent production.
Armed with $30 million and complete creative control, Raimi dusted off a story he wrote with elder brother and frequent collaborator Ivan Raimi back in the ’90s to make his triumphant return to horror with Drag Me to Hell in 2009. The Raimi broters seemingly drew inspiration from 1957’s Night of the Demon but injected it with a heavy dose of Evil Dead DNA, most closely evoking Evil Dead 2‘s cartoonish blend of over-the-top splatter and tongue-in-cheek humor.

A New Year means lots of removals from Netflix and January 1st is looking busy, with over 100 movies set to leave the service already. Below, we’ll be keeping track of all the Netflix departures for the first month of 2024.
First, a few housekeeping notes as to how Netflix removals work before we dive in. Due to licensing agreements, shows and movies added to Netflix aren’t added forever. Instead, they’re essentially rented for a fixed period. All the shows below have their current window on Netflix ending and will likely be bound for a rival streaming service.
We list titles slightly differently from other outlets, with our listings being the actual day of removal. If you want to watch any titles scheduled to expire on January 1st, for example, you’ll need to watch by the end of December 31st.

The latest feature from David Fincher, a big-budget drama series from Steven Knight and Shawn Levy, and an Oscar hopeful starring Annette Bening and Jodie Foster are among the standout new additions hitting Netflix in November.
With The Killer, Fincher reteams with Seven writer Andrew Kevin Walker to adapt the graphic novel written by Alexis Nolent. The film, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival this year and debuts on Netflix on Nov. 10, stars Michael Fassbender as a shadowy unnamed assassin and features a cast that includes Arliss Howard, Charles Parnell, Gabriel Polanco, Kerry O’Malley, Emiliano Pernía, Sala Baker, Sophie Charlotte and Tilda Swinton.
The Hollywood Reporter‘s review of The Killer described the film as “a satisfyingly retro, location-hopping genre exercise with fisticuffs, gadgets (albeit ones bought from Amazon) and smooth-talking antagonists that all plays like a tongue-in-cheek spoof of James Bond movies.”

Traditionally the best horror films have been rated R to provide fans with the appropriate blood, guts and chills required to give a proper scare, but every so often one comes along that the MPAA doesn’t think warrants such a harsh rating yet still gives that blood curdling, spine tingling spook fest you would want from a horror movie of any rating. With Halloween now just days away, America’s thoughts turn increasingly to witches, demons, the paranormal and scaring the heck out of ourselves. And of course, few things accomplish this goal better than horror movies, a genre the United States has largely claimed as its own. To get everyone in the spirit, the website bank-locations.net launched a state-by-state study of Google to discern (based on searches) which Halloween-themed flicks were most popular in each state of the union.
To generate its conclusions, the research team analyzed 200+ top-rated horror films from IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes, then studied specific searches for each movie. For example, for “The Shining,” they gathered keywords like “watch the shining,” “the shining full movie,” “”the shining streaming, “The shining netflix” and “where to watch the shining.”
Horror movies were split into two groups: those before 2000 and those after. More than half of the states (27) preferred Googling...

I’ve never been especially afraid that Janicza Bravo’s inimitable “Zola” might pave the way for more films based on Twitter threads; in the time since one of history’s biggest losers began to delegitimize the platform just because he’s so bad at using it, not once have I found myself wondering: “But where are we going to get our movies!?”

Plot: Inspired by R.L. Stine’s worldwide bestselling book series, “Goosebumps” follows a group of five high schoolers as they embark on a shadowy and twisted journey to investigate the tragic passing three decades earlier of a teen named Harold Biddle – while also unearthing dark secrets from their parents’ past.
Review: For decades, R.L. Stine has been a mainstay of tween and teen horror. In the 1980s and 1990s, Stine was the Stephen King for younger audiences, and the 1995 television anthology series of his books frightened a generation. The 2015 and 2018 feature films brought most of Stine’s iconic stories and characters together for movies that were more adventure than horror. Now, Disney+ and Hulu bring a new take on Goosebumps that is decidedly darker and scarier than the previous takes on the source material. The new Goosebumps combines ten of R.L. The first trailer for "It's A Wonderful Knife" is here, and it has everything we never knew we needed from a holiday-set slasher: Laura Lee from "Yellowjackets," a killer who looks like Moon Knight, and ... Justin Long with a spray tan?! Long's involvement in the movie — playing chipper Mayor Waters — should make it a must-see anyway given his wild and watchable horror track record, but there are plenty of reasons to get stoked for "It's A Wonderful Knife."
The movie is the latest from "Freaky" writer Michael Kennedy, with "Tragedy Girls" filmmaker Tyler MacIntyre directing. That means "It's A Wonderful Knife" is almost certain to have a sharp comedic edge to it, something that's clear from the first seconds of the trailer when Mayor Waters, looking and sounding weirdly like a Martin Short character, campily declares, "I give you ... Christmas!" The festivities are soon cut short, though, when a...

One of the many shameful losses during the (not so) great Disney+ purge of 2023 was "Just Beyond," the anthology series based on R.L. Stine's graphic novel property of the same name. Created by Seth Grahame-Smith ("Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter"), the genre-blending show is probably the closest anyone's come to creating a worthy tween-friendly successor to "The Twilight Zone," complete with its dark satire and profound mediation on topics such as love, loss, and mortality.
"Just Beyond" might have also made for a nice companion piece to the streamer's incoming "Goosebumps," itself the latest screen adaptation of Stine's mega-popular "spoopy" book series. Having previously been adapted as a live-action TV series that ran from 1995 to 1998, the property made the leap to the big screen with the 2015 "Goosebumps" film, which was followed by a sequel three years later.

Paramount Network’s Yellowstone is the most-watched show across all of television, so it makes sense that the first image from the horror film Don’t Move promotes the fact that Yellowstone cast member Kelsey Asbille is in the movie. Actually, that’s pretty much all it promotes, because the image (which was first seen on Variety) just shows a close-up of Asbille’s face. You can take a look at it at the bottom of this article.

It’s a deceptively big month on Prime Video in September! To kick things off, The Wheel of Time will be back for a second season on the service, while a live-action The Boys spinoff series called Gen V will be capping off the original series content later in the month.
But there are also some interesting new projects lined up between those two biggies. On September 15, Jenna Coleman and Oliver Jackson-Cohen star in what is sure to be a delicious tale of revenge. Wilderness, based on B.E. One of the most foundational pillars of horror also happens to be one of its more nebulously defined subgenres: the creature feature. At its most ubiquitous of definitions, the creature feature is simply a horror movie in which a monster plays a prominent role as the primary antagonist; the term says it all. It’s the creature part that’s loose for interpretation, of course.
A creature feature could be anything from carnivorous aliens from space to manmade monsters that turn on their makers, and everything in between. Often, a creature feature highlights nature running amok. This week’s streaming picks are dedicated to the horror movies that bring the monster mayhem in various ways, but all showcase excellent practical effects.
More specifically, this week belongs to underseen creature features that deserve more attention. As always, here’s where you can stream them this week.

The episode of Revisited covering Drag Me to Hell was Written by Cody Hamman, Narrated and Edited by Tyler Nichols, Produced by Tyler Nichols and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
Director Sam Raimi’s Drag Me to Hell (watch it Here) isn’t technically one of his Evil Dead movies. There’s no Bruce Campbell, no Necromicon. But it really feels like it’s set in the same world as the Evil Dead franchise. There’s demons, possession, over-the-top fight scenes, disgusting sight gags… and it’s all mixed with a strong dash of humor. Drag Me to Hell may not be as popular as its Evil Dead cousins. But it’s a great horror movie in its own right – and it’s time for it to be Revisited.

It goes without saying that if a horror movie franchise has over four movies, it’s got to have some good scares to keep us coming back for more. That first Insidious movie back in the day was iconic for its use of jumpscares and it’s originality. Leigh Whannell has introduced us to some really wonderfully memorable characters that are captured for the screen by some great actors that keep us involved in the universe. Unlike other movies that fall in this genre of jumpscare popcorn horror of family hauntings, what stands out about Insidious is that it has no focus on religion, but it’s all about family love and also self-assured strength. So kudos to Leigh for making us believe in ourselves (wipes tears). With the new movie just out, it only makes sense to compare some of the horrifying entities that we meet in The Further.

From producers Sam Raimi (Evil Dead, Drag Me to Hell, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) and Roy Lee (It, Doctor Sleep, Don’t Worry Darling) comes the upcoming action-thriller Boy Kills World. The film is said to be a “one-of-a-kind action spectacle set in a dystopian fever dream reality,” and it’s definitely releasing with a hard “R” rating.
Boy Kills World has been Rated “R” by the MPA this week for, “Strong bloody violence and gore throughout, language, some drug use and sexual references.”
Stay tuned for the official trailer, which is likely coming soon.
In Boy Kills World, “Boy (Bill Skarsgård) is a deaf-mute with a vibrant imagination. When his family is murdered, Boy escapes to the jungle and is trained by a mysterious shaman to repress his childish imagination and become an instrument of death.”

When Peter Albrechtsen signed on as sound designer for “Evil Dead Rise,” director Lee Cronin’s addition to the now 42-year-old horror franchise, he received a valuable gift from “Evil Dead” royalty. “One of the first things that happened when I got this job was that I got a hard drive with digitized versions of sound effects from the first two films,” Albrechtsen told IndieWire. The drive came from Bruce Campbell, the star and co-producer of the first three “Evil Dead” movies (as well as the television series “Ash vs. Evil Dead”), a sound enthusiast who wanted Albrechtsen to have access to the DIY work he and director Sam Raimi did back in the early 1980s. “It wasn’t just the mixes, it was the actual recordings Bruce and Sam did together,” Albrechtsen said. “Every sound from those movies was suddenly available to us.”

When Sam Raimi started work on The Evil Dead, he was a 19-year-old Michigan State dropout with one mission: get $100,000 together, and make a movie with his childhood friend Bruce Campbell. Nearly everyone he spoke to said his script wouldn’t work: you couldn’t just dive into the blood and guts without setting it up, they said.

A sequel to one of the most underrated horror films of the 21 century would be a welcome return to form for Sam Raimi. Drag Me to Hell followed a cursed young woman who was desperately seeking help to save her soul from eternal suffering. The 2009 feature was highly acclaimed and returned a nice profit at the box office. However, a Drag Me To Hell sequel to this underrated gem would be a nice addition to Raimi’s filmography. There’s still plenty of avenues to explore like Raimi did with the Evil Dead series; he took that horror concept and...

For example, Beck and Woods revealed that a sequel to their 2019 slasher Haunt is in the works, and Raimi mentioned that members of his Ghost House Pictures production team are trying to come up with a story for a sequel to his 2009 film Drag Me to Hell. During the session, Raimi also named his personal favorite Sam Raimi movie – and let fans know he has a couple options to choose from when the time comes for him to direct his next movie.

Here there be spoilers. Consider yourself warned. After spending years web-slinging around New York City with Spider-Man, Sam Raimi finally returned to his horror roots with Drag Me to Hell. The supernatural horror movie starred Alison Lohman as Christine, a bank loan officer who is cursed when she denies an elderly woman’s request to extend her mortgage. Over the last fourteen years, fans have wondered whether they might get a sequel to the gruesome feature, and Sam Raimi recently teased that Drag Me to Hell 2 is a possibility.

The ending to 2009’s Drag Me to Hell damn sure made good on the promise of the title, with Sam Raimi‘s return to horror suggesting that there wasn’t anything left to tell in regards to that particular story. In fact, Raimi had told Bloody Disgusting back in 2019 that the reason there was never a sequel was simply because the ending of the first movie was so definitive.
Raimi explained to us, “I don’t have a story, because in my mind the character got killed, and worse. So I didn’t know how to proceed with the sequel. Usually, for me, I’m left with a character that I really am interested [in] or a concept that really feels like it needs to continue. It looks like a particular cursed button might be making life hell for someone in the future. According to a recent Reddit Ama with Scott Beck, Bryan Woods, and Sam Raimi, the creative team of the upcoming movie "65," the possibility exists for a sequel to the 2009 Raimi horror film "Drag Me to Hell." "Army of Darkness" turns 30 this week and enjoys a well-earned reputation as a horror-comedy classic. Indeed, the influence of Sam Raimi's filmmaking stretches beyond the Pacific Ocean. Kentaro Miura, the late, legendary manga artist responsible for "Berserk," named Raimi and Tim Burton as his favorite filmmakers. In an interview (transcribed into English), Miura praised these directors as "offbeat," noting, "it's strange that a person can be that offbeat and big at the same time."
Miura would know; "Berserk" is one of the bleakest, most violent stories you'll ever read. Some of its splash pages are less action spreads and more ethereal tableaus. However, it's often cited as the crown jewel of fantasy manga. He and Raimi were so alike, in fact, that Miura started to get concerns about copyright. He recounted:

"M3GAN" was a perfectly fun, spooky film, but many viewers couldn't help but feel like it was held back a little by its PG-13 rating. Sure, that stretched-out ear scene was pretty gnarly, but the worst of the violence was kept implied, and that's a little disappointing to the more blood-thirsty members of the audience.
Luckily, there's an unrated version of the film releasing exclusively on Peacock on February 24, and it'll be available on Blu-Ray and DVD on March 21.The unrated version promises to give us "more distressing violence and profanity," as well as include "never-before-seen bonus content."
Some of the exclusive bonus features include "A New Vision of Horror," in which the cast and crew talk about the film's production and creation, including how the "initial idea" for an evil robot doll was come up with. There's also "Bringing Life to M3GAN," which will give viewers a closer look into "how animatronics,...

One of last year's most unexpected hits was that of "Terrifier 2," an epic-length splatter film that garnered bold headlines for its impressively sickening gore effects. On top of that, its 250,000 budget went on to gross a pretty insane 14.7 million at the box office. When an ode to exploitation cinema rakes in that kind of money, it wasn't a matter of "if" a "Terrifier 3" was happening, and more of a "when." Director Damien Leone is already hard at work writing the threequel, with the possibility of expanding it into a fourth film. "There may be two to tell this story and tackle all the ideas that I have in my head," says Leone (via Insider).
Given the dangling plot threads of "Terrifier 2" that were left open-ended, there's plenty of room to play around with where this demented story could go. Leone has assured that the sequel will pick up with the sequel's newcomers,...

“Can people come back?” asks Mia, the cute little girl whose increasingly hair-raising antics are the crux of this atmospheric Midnight premiere from Australia. From the dead, she means, and it’s a macabre thought that Daina Reid’s effective but perhaps overlong debut feature film plays with quite tantalizingly, right until the end. Although the tease may wear down commercial audiences expecting to find out one way or the other, Run Rabbit Run will find favor on the arthouse and especially the festival circuit.
Like a lot of recent genre films with female leads — eg Ari Aster’s Hereditary or Jennifer Kent’s The Babadook — Reid’s film takes place in a time of fresh bereavement or recent marriage trauma. In this case, it’s both: Sarah (Sarah Snook), Mia’s mother, is dealing with her father’s death, but the hammer blow comes when her ex-husband announces that...
