The Book of Boba Fett (2021)
Excellent show!!!
Hes back baby! And what a return, I have been waiting for a long time of that sarlacc exit scene to happen and its finally here. I love the flashbacks and feel that the show moves at a good pace. Theirs good action scenes, but the story is where the series really shines the most. The developing relationship that Boba continues to form with the Tusken Raiders is very interesting as we've never seen or heard much from them, other then brief moments throughout the films. Learning more about how their society works and their traditions is just filling the canon with so much amazing lore. Not only are the flashbacks awesome the main plot of the show is really good too, and it just got so much better in the newest episode with an appearance of two of a most memorable species. What challenge are they for Fett, and how will he face it? Not only that but their bringing comic characters to live action too. I can't wait for the next episode.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
Excellent movie!
Spider-Man: No Way Home
I'm Speechless & Overwhelmed. No amount of words can describe the emotions i felt today. This is one of the greatest fan service I've ever witnessed. And thus marks one of the greatest MCU movie ever made.
What they pulled off is nothing sort of mind blowing and commendable.
Hats off to everyone involved and for making this dream a reality.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021)
Epic Sequel!!!!
The inner struggle between venom and brock as they try to reconcile their own differences, and their individual outlook on life combined with their external struggle with chocolate, love life and the rest including carnage, is a great way to build character development. Because we understand their inner struggle and desires we know how much harder it is on them in the external world and the plot.
The way that we go through the inner narative of brock and venom, in parallel to developing Cletus's romantic relationship to Shreik and his symbiotic relationship to carnage, is a great way to show parallel script writing and use of cinematic editing to develop the converging Anti-hero's journey to battle his Son and nemesis.
The father son relationship between carnage and venom, and the toxicity that is made of all the characters with incompatible relationships, is a great way to build up the tension throughout the film before the final battle and convergence of all conflicts from the parallel stories.
Venom is struggling to be compatible with his symbiotic host brock, as is Cletus and Carnage. Venom is struggling with his ex as she is about to marry someone else and he still hs feelings for her. And Cletus is forcfully kept away from his one love as he desperately want to break himself and her free from the shackles of the government. All these toxic relationships and the final battle at the end of this film gives the viewer a satisfying ending. Not to mention the excitingly news in the post credit scene.
This film deserves 5 stars for its parallel story structure and great character development along with cinematic cross editing between unfolding character plots that ultimately converge for an final epic battle.
Trainspotting (1996)
Great movie!!
Absolutely amazing film, Highly recommend watching this great film although it is not for the faint hearted. The message in this film is immaculate the whole structure and story line is perfect and makes the watcher or reader feel a sense of hopelessness for the characters. The most harrowing scene is when Baby Dawn dies due to the neglect from her drug addicted parents. Even though Sick boy is the antagonist in the film he is by far my favourite in the film, he is funny, witty and a free spirit that does what he likes without a fuss. I give this film 5/5 stars I watch this movie almost every night and every time it gets better and better!!! Danny Boyle has such an incredible mind when it comes to stories like this he is a great director and every film he directs is brilliant!! Words cannot describe how much i love this film, Brilliant, perfect amazing!!!! If you are reading this and you are struggling from drug addiction or overcoming your current drug addiction get help call the samaritans or get help on the NHS website <3.
Pulp Fiction (1994)
Legendary film!!
I was watching this movie for the 3rd time, first time I watched it was in the theater. A couple of days ago & it still had the same impact on me, what it had on the first watch !!
Pulp fiction to me is not just a movie, it is a genre in itself...a result of Tarantino's wildest imaginations. It is a combination of 3 stories of the same world but with different protagonists, linked with each other in some way or the other. I was heavily confused about the plot of the movie after my first watch.....it slowly grew on me with time....it is one of those films, which will remain with me for years to come, aur jab impact kam hone lagega...i will watch it again !!
The movie talks about the decisions that we make in our life and the unpredictability, fortunes & misfortunes of it.
Violence is the heart of the movie & the way Tarantino blends it with his plot is a whole different chapter altogether. His violence is real, funny, unpredictable, sometimes horrifying and sometimes surprisingly exciting too(if there is something that i learn from movies, it's definitely not the violence...so chill)
The background score, the songs, the camera work, the performances of the actors (especially samuel as jules, john as vincent, bruce as butch & uma as mia{fab of the lot}) are all very powerful & amazing. The direction of Quentin is simply unparalleled in this movie but the only thing that i don't like about this movie is his cameo(it looks a bit odd...idk why)
My favourite parts of this masterpiece are....the dance scene, the car scene, the beginning & the ending scenes of the movie, comic reliefs, Jules quoting the bible and the sexual tension that builds between Mia & Vincent !!
Braveheart (1995)
Great movie!!!!
The story of William Wallace, who led the Scots in a struggle for freedom from England's brutal rule, "Braveheart" evokes old-fashioned movie epics. Mr. Gibson's stroke of brilliance is to revel in those epic qualities -- tragic romance and unbounded heroism, gorgeous photography and a cast of thousands --and add a swift contemporary kick. "Braveheart" is also an explosive action movie. The logical comparison is not with the pallid "Rob Roy" but with a "Die Hard" film. The medieval Scots use spears, swords, axes and giant rocks, and they use them with a vengeance.
They get quite bloody in the process, too. At the start of the film, the child William (sweetly played by James Robinson, who looks remarkably like Mr. Gibson) wanders into a hut where his clansmen have gone to make peace with the English. The boy sees their bodies hanging from the rafters, establishing right away that this movie is about a savage time.
Despite that, the early episodes are more lyrical than brutal. Wallace is sent abroad to be educated, returns as Mel Gibson and falls in love with a beautiful woman named Murron (Catherine McCormack). Wallace and Murron are married in secret to elude an English law allowing a nobleman to rape a Scottish bride on her wedding night. The romantic marriage ceremony, at night in a clearing in the woods, is so evocative of "Romeo and Juliet" that there must be trouble ahead.
The Walking Dead (2010)
Masterpiece!!
Greg Nicotero left the most emotional and blood wrenching story of all time, The Walking Dead delivers a masterpiece worthy performance by almost every character as they progress through the fast paced post apocalyptic America. Character development shines through thick and thin with this story as they are all at some point faced with a moment of grief, loneliness and mental breakdowns. Through the 10 seasons, they are all unforgettable and the story focuses on each character and how they mentally and physically cope with the traumatic experiences of knowing that they are one of the few groups left in the world, story line is able to attract viewers as we see something new each season. The start of season 7 has got to be mentioned as one of the most intimidating and fearful moments in television history... the introduction of Negan, a reckless killer who orders the balance of his community with the aid of other communties, he puts them to their knees and they beg for forgiveness. Another honourable mention is seasons 1-4 as they really allow plot line to shape the characters while the adapt to a broken world. Overall, The Walking Dead is an all around perfect tv show and an emotional story line with compelling and intimidating characters. 10/10.
Ojing-eo geim (2021)
Amazing show!!
Absolutely amazing show. The plot is not predictable which I find very intriguing. Kudos to the creators because this show, it hits on key fundamental aspects that are overlooked in society. Not only does this show keep you hooked, but it has also made me sit back and ponder on societal interactions as a whole. With all of the negative feelings that circulate in our world today this show is most certainly worth the time and has been the most impactful one I've seen to date. There are some gory scenes for those who need a trigger warning but all in all I highly recommend this show to anyone for the impact that it has on you. It's much needed perspective growth that more people should delve into.
Goodfellas (1990)
One of my favorite movies of all time!!!
One of, if not THE greatest mobster films of all time. "Goodfellas" is a cinematic masterpiece from start to finish with it's brilliant pacing, brilliant performances and brilliant storytelling from Martin Scorsese. It's a film that is virtually flawless as there's not a single shot or edit that drags. There's nothing you could possibly change or clip from this final cut, you'd be hard pressed to nitpick anything wrong with this 2 and half hour classic. What makes "Goodfellas" stand out from other mobster films is it's brutal portrayal of a life of crime, and nails every detail of the highs and lows in such a way that's cinematically stunning. So many iconic, quotable scenes make this one of the best films of all time.
The Godfather Part III (1990)
Terrible movie, The first two were the better ones
This film - at 2 hours 50 - was far too long. It got too bogged down with all this business about the Vatican and too much time was allocated to Sicily (and the flaming opera) and not enough crime action back in the U. S. The best scene was with Andy Garcia (Vincent Corleone) as the policeman on horseback.
The Godfather (1972)
One of the best movies of all time!!
The best movie ever, it's a GREAT movie! Marlon Brando gives a great performance as Don Vito Corleone, so does Al Pacino and Robert Duvall, it is the best drama in history, it is a classic! I absolutely loved the story! A Mafia known as the "Godfather" who hands over his criminal empire to his son, Micheal (Al Pacino) and things go wrong! Brilliant! SO brilliant! It's very long but very good, Francis Ford Coppola, thank you So much for directing this masterpiece back in the 70s, and bringing the best actors: Pacino and Brando, especially Robert Duvall ! I wish that there were more but to-be-fair, if they brought more, the newer movies would probably be like 1% on Rotten Tomatoes! And also, fun fact: Francis Ford Coppola is still alive and 80 years old right now! It's good to hear that, man!
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Great movie!! Just like the other two movies!!
The Fellowship of the Ring is one of those films that comes once in a lifetime, how fortunate we are as human beings to be around at a time where 3 of these films are released within 3 short years!!
The fellowship is just the perfect blend of setting the story, fleshing out characters and introducing us to the world of middle earth!
Ian McKellen as Gandalf is just legendary.... mysterious, loveable, occasionally hilarious and in THAT iconic scene, completely immortalised.
Elijah wood, Sean Astin, Dominic Monaghan and Billy Boyd showcase perfectly not only their playful naivety and innocence but a good heart along with their fierce will and courage to do whatever it takes.
Sean Bean does what he does best in most films but has never upset as more in this case and whilst doing so shows us both the best and worst qualities of humans in the harsh, hostile but magical world of Middle earth.
By the end of the film you're dying to see what happens next and at every turn you get both attention to detail and storytelling that is seldom found elsewhere.
If you haven't watched the Fellowship of the Ring yet, I beg of you! Do it!! It's the first film of a trilogy that is so close to perfection that it will only be seen once in a lifetime.
Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
Fantastic movie!
'Raiders of The Lost Ark', the first of the Indiana Jones films created by Steven Spielberg ('Jaws') and George Lucas ('Star Wars'), remains a classic Saturday afternoon adventure much like the serials that inspired it forty years after it's release.
A movie with a thrilling story filled with action, romance and adventure, 'Raiders' takes off and runs never letting down during it's runtime. It solidified both the star status of Harrison Ford who carried two tent pole franchises with this film series and Lucas' 'Star Wars' franchise and director Steven Spielberg's reputation of being at the helm of a streak of classic summer blockbusters.
In 1936, legendary archaeologist Dr Henry Walton "Indiana" Jones (Ford) combs the world looking for the rarest of archaeological treasures whilst also serving as a Professor of Archaeology at his local university when he receives word from the US Government about a Nazi dig site at the lost Egyptian city of Tanis. Jones soon figures out from his prior research that Hitler and the Third Reich are searching for the Ark of the Covenant, the long-lost and feared Hebrew artifact that is said to make an army invincible with it's power, with the guidance by Jones' rival and mercenary archaeologist Dr Réne Belloq (Paul Freeman). Enlisting the help of his old love Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen), Jones races to Egypt to recover the Ark, battling Nazi forces and villainous henchmen along the way.
'Raiders' is a must-watch film, featuring some daring action with the opening scene and with a truck chase in the desert complimented by Michael Kahn's Oscar-winning editing and John Williams' Oscar-nominated score, some fantastical but frightening visual effects and a tight script from Lawrence Kasdan ('The Empire Strikes Back').
Mystic River (2003)
Terrible movie
Climax comes with no sense at all and a innocent man is murdered. Killers wife says to him"you have a big heart and you did what you wanted to save family". How the hell murder of Dave helps his family live a better life. Even his wife is a heartless and mean person. Even the police officers don't do remaining investigation about missing dave and suddenly all heat is off. The starting was good but climax that's worst one ever seen and how the murder of Dave was justified by Sean, his wife and Jimmy that was even more worst. Wonder how did it got rating of 7.8. I could have just left the theater but I usually finish the movies I'm watching even if they suck.
Django Unchained (2012)
Masterpiece!!!!
An amazing masterpiece by Quentin Tarantino with top notch and brilliant acting of Leonardo DiCaprio and Jamie foxx . Christropher waltz added an extra feather in the cap . The storyline and direction made every hands down . Jamie foxx definitely derseves an oscar for his great acting , there's no doubt . Released in 2012 , I watched it in 2021 but it made me completely astonished . The great direction flavour of Quentin Tarantino made every scene realistic like really it had been shot in 18th century. Those who like suspense and adventurous stories to watch . They should definitely give it a watch . All the actors really done their role 101% of perfection.
The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
Very thrilling and great film!!!!!
The best psychological suspense thriller movie ever made IMO. It's not only the psychological thriller movie and it is also teaches some philosophical thoughts through its core characters.
Lets take the character Dr. Hannibal Lecter, He is a cannibalistic psychiatric psycho character but if you'd put the microscope in his character by looking in his vision ,we could say that he is looking both human and animal as a food and trying to convey that human beings also a normal living being as same as other living things.
And coming to the character agent Clarice starling, she is also same as Dr. Hannibal lecter in treating both as a same living beings . She sees both human and lambs as a respectful living being by showing some kindness and mercy toward lambs which were being slaughtered by her relative and she wants to rescue the character Catherine Martin from the serial killer, Buffalo Bill.
With respect to the character Buffalo bill, he loves his dog and he shows very kind and protective towards his dog and he won't respect human being by killing for his use as we the normal people use animals for our use. Our character is just vice versa of his character but emotions are same.
And speaking about the last main character, the victim Catherine Martin. This character tries to escape from him by threatening and torturing the dog as we all do at that situation. The character won't mind dog's life and It is the replica of the people we call normal.
And among these 4 main characters
1. Dr. Hannibal Lecter.
2. Agent Clarice Starling.
3. The serial killer Buffalo bill.
4. The victim Catherine Martin, We the story listener should decide who is normal and who is abnormal.
Talking about the performance of Anthony Hopkins and Judie Foster ,they did some spectacular work as same as the work done by the director and screenplay writer.
Not surprised that it got Best five award at Oscars 1991.i recommend it 100% for everyone.
Inglourious Basterds (2009)
Glory at its peak!!!!!
Inglorious Basterds; Tarantino grandeur and glory at its peak
The end credits of the film kick in following the line "I think it just be might masterpiece" by Brad Pitt (I'm sure there's a separate fan following for the end credits as well) and pretty much sums up the magnanimous piece of cinema by the legendary Quentin Tarantino. Tarantino, the undisputed monarch of non linear narratives, goes all guns blazing in his alternate-history depiction of the Nazi brutality and the eventual downfall of Hitler. The film revolves around the bloody and gruesome 'Inglorious Basterds', a group of Jewish Americans vowed to decimate as many Nazi soldiers as possible and act as a harbinger of Jewish liberation. Col. Hans Landa brilliantly portrayed by Christoph Waltz is a narcissistic and callous general in the ranks of the German military in German occupied France region where he's known as the "jew-hunter",is the textbook definition of movie villians and perhaps widely regarded as one of the finest villians ever to have graced the silver screen. With an astounding command over French,German, English and Italian, Christoph Waltz shoulders an aura of hostility and unpredictability and brings in a wave of energy to the character of Landa. He truly deserves the Oscar.
In terms of the writing and characterisation, Tarantino is at his belligerent best with extended scenes of intriguing dialogues, grotesque depictions of violence and an enviable cinematography and music composition. Every second of the narrative gets the audience glued to their screens and appreciate the Tarantino signature style film making. Inglorious Basterds is definitely not for the faint of hearts and those who detest violence in any form. One can't help but notice Tarantino's appetite for violence and storytelling is insatiable.
Interstellar (2014)
Very well-written film!!!!!
This is likely one of my top 5 favourite movies of all time. The story was very well-written and is realistic without sacrificing the evocative and awe-inspiring nature of the best space/time-travel movies...just an overall transcendent experience. You have to pay attention to every little thing that happens in this film to really understand the plot, straight from the get-go, but its so worth it when realizations are made at the climax. The acting is phenomenal, but that's to be expected when you pair up Jessica Chastain and Matthew McConaughey- their father/daughter bond is the heart and soul of this movie. Even as it ends on a hopeful note, there is an underlying sadness throughout the movie (which Hans Zimmer's score brings out beautifully) that really adds to its weighty and monumental feel and keeps you rooting for the main characters. My eyes were glued to the screen the whole time. I highly, highly recommend.
Forrest Gump (1994)
One of the best Hollywood movies of all time!!!!
Initial release: 23 June 1994 (Los Angeles)
Director: Robert Zemeckis
Screenplay: Eric Roth
Adapted from: Forrest Gump
Awards: Academy Award for Best Picture
Forrest Gump is one of the best Hollywood movies of all time. It carries with itself the credit of 13 Academy awards and 6 Oscars. The Film is based on a true event portrayal of Vietnam war, Watergate scandal, presidencies of Johnson and Kennedy. This historic movie begins with the powerful actors and actresses, Tom Hanks as the central protagonist Forrest Bump, Robin Wright as Jenny Curran, Gary Sinise as Lieutenant Day Taylor and Sally Field as Mrs. Gump.
The movie begins with the symbolism of a feather and ends thus. The movie is based on the real life history of Sammy Lee Davis. Yet the movie is half fact and half fiction. Rob Pope is the real life Forrest Gump. His running track record is 15,000 miles in the entire United States. He had covered the entire United States four times. The remarkable story line captures the historical evidence of warfare, poverty, drugs, alienation. It highlights the trilogy of determination, hard work and kindness are the key words of success.
The story begins thus the prime figure Forrest Bump is born with defects in his spine, to support his crooked spine he has to wear braces to ease out his difficulty from walking. His school mate who has a prominent impact throughout his life is Jenny Curran. Her motivating words triggered an abundance of energy to Forrest. The less IQ boy moved ahead to run and covered the obstacles on his way. His determination is recognised by The President of the United States of America with the highest gallantry award. The best part of the story is its simplicity of the central hero and the portion of empathy displayed in the scenes gives a lasting effect on the viewer's psyche. The most conceptual word Love is portrayed with genuine profundity. The bond of souls is superior to physical communion. Respect the human. This strong message is vividly portrayed. The most unique part of the film is its dialogue delivery.
My mama always said, 'Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.'" - Forrest Gump
The above words are the key words of the film. The eventful moment of the movie is accepting the trade as it is. The non-complaining approach of Forrest Gump made him a celebrity. He attuned himself to every odd and came out shining. This puts a positive impact on the viewers. The movie embodies some of the elementary human vibrations such love, faith, friendship, empathy.
Apart from the positive aspect of the slack characterization of Jenny, Lieutenant Day Taylor, Bubba holds the viewers with much anxiety. Their depiction of characters is in need of a strong storyline. I think this is the drawback of a powerful script. The actions of Tom Hanks, Robin Wright, Gary Sinise are notable. Of course, Tom Hanks is in his best. His total opposite character displaying in the scenes indicates his capability of holding the viewers with apt attention.
The Dark Knight (2008)
Phenomenal movie!!!!
In the Trilogy of Dark knight by Christopher Nolan,Shows us the real world approach on the comic created character Batman. Chris Actually showed the Batman in a different perspective that was new to the comic fans, the 3 movies shows the journey of batman how he evolves in every story.the three movies reflect the Beginning, fall and rise of batman So The Dark Knight (2008) is about the fall of batman.
This movie is still consider as gold standard of superhero movie to look as example for many fans as we can't complain much about that. Every single aspect of this movie is beyond spectacular i mean everything Acting, story, characters, anything you name it. Heath ledger had to face so much criticism when he was casted as the clown Prince of gotham, but he just silenced every single one by putting up a top notch performance in this movie we can simply say that A perfect Antagonist to the protagonist.
The movie's first Act goes in a well maintained pace as the story gives the audience idea about the changes from the previous Batman Begins(2005) How gotham has changed and the second act picks up its pace in a Flash.the Part of Batman and joker is like a cat and mouse game through out the movie. Another integral part which is its music which is done by the maestro Hans Zimmer, this movie has one of the electrifying Background scores ever especially the chase scene and towards the ending the Bgm is like perfection at its best.
The Social Network (2010)
Great film!!
Considered by many to be David Fincher's magnum opus with an engaging dialogue-driven script from Aaron Sorkin, Facebook drama 'The Social Network' is still as relevant as ever just over 10 years from it's release given that we are truly in the age of the internet with the enormous power of social media and tech giants holding market power.
In 2003, Harvard Psychology/Computer Sciences sophomore Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg) launches 'Facemash' to determine the attractiveness of female students against one another with a "Turing" effect after he goes through a breakup. The site becomes an overnight sensation among Harvard students, but stirs controversy due to violations of Harvard computer and privacy policies and due to the network being brought down by the site's popularity. This however spurs further innovation from Zuckerberg and his close friend/business partner Eduardo Saverin (Andrew Garfield) who together launch 'The Facebook' in early 2004, which would become the world's biggest social networking site 'Facebook'. However, Zuckerberg is soon pulled into legal action and the destruction of friendships and business relationships through allegations of intellectual property theft and share dilution of Saverin's stake and his partnership with internet bad-boy and Napster co-founder Sean Parker (Justin Timberlake).
An extremely well-directed and acted film, and the Oscar winner for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing, and Best Original Score (although controversially losing Best Picture and Best Director to Tom Hooper's 'The King's Speech'), 'The Social Network' is a must watch for cinema enthusiasts interested in looking at a time period where the internet was rising up again after it's bubble-burst in the early 2000's, and where whizz kids could easily find themselves transported from a dormitory room on the East Coast to the sunny tech-driven Silicon Valley on the West Coast, only to face betrayal and conflict.
Rain Man (1988)
Excellent movie!!!
This is an excellent, quiet gem of a movie from master director Barry Levinson.
It shows Raymond as a real person rather than just some object; someone who still sees the world, just in a different way than most.
Inspired by the real life late Kim Peak, Rain Man is a powerful, heart-warming, emotional and at times funny story about love and brotherhood as well as tolerence and acceptance.
The acting is great all around, including Valeria Golino, as Charlie's kind, sympathetic girlfriend, Susanna. Tom Cruise is great as well but this is Dustin Hoffman's movie all the way, for which he got a very well deserved Oscar.
The Matrix (1999)
Still a great movie after 22 years!!
I first saw The Matrix on its initial theatre release back in 1999. I've seen bits and pieces of it over the years on TV but hadn't really sat down to watch if again properly until now having bought The Matrix Trilogy on Blu-ray. The movie is still a great sci-fi flick and worthy of being called one of the best. The fights scenes, although a little slow this day and age, are well choreographed and heavy hitting - I particularly enjoy when people get thrown against or through walls and this movie has plenty of that! The bullet time effects and slow motion shots still hold up, and even though other films have copied it, The Matrix was the original and still does it better if you ask me. The storyline still feels futuristic even after 22 years and the CGI, although looking a tad dated, is still pretty sharp mostly (better than what was in the sequel, The Matrix Reloaded, oddly). The story can get a little confusing at times for new comers, infact there were things in this viewing that I had not picked up on or understood previously so just one viewing may not be enough to truely appreciate the film. The one thing the film didn't do for me however was the emotional relationships - I liked the characters, but the relationship between Neo and Trinity felt a bit forced for my liking. My favourite scene is the fight in the Subway between Agent Smith and Neo - it was a great lead in and a very back and foward encounter with neither man truely gaining the upperhand.
Alien (1979)
GREAT MOVIE!!
I decided it was time to revisit Ridley Scott's landmark film after I saw it 30 years ago. And it hit me every bit as hard as the first time I saw it. So here's the question that, even 42 years later, continues to stir through people's minds: what exactly is it that makes ALIEN what it is today?
The truth is, it's a tough question to answer, as it's not nearly as action-driven as its sequel, but rather a quiet film that I can't help but compare to a deadly snake slowly crawling up my limbs for two hours. I think fans of this classic can agree that the seemingly effortless combination of that quiet, achingly slow-burning tension along with some terrifying creature/set designs and even a few moments of genuine shocks (I'm not only referring to that infamously horrifying chestburster sequence, which is still a doozy). The cast is uniformly excellent all around, and far more interesting than many of the later films (excluding ALIENS and the surprising PROMETHEUS, which also featured a strong cast). These elements are a major part of why ALIEN has taken its deserved place among cinema's greatest productions.
Another thing I loved was the fact that much of the film takes place in a dark, shadowy atmosphere. Then, there's Jerry Goldsmith's sublime and quiet score, and silence is brilliantly used to ramp up the suspense to amazing and terrifying heights.
In the film's final act, we see Ripley attempting to escape the Nostromo - and that firestorm of technical creativity and shocking, in-your-face terror could not have been a more perfect way to close this chapter, and set us up for James Cameron's own classic, a sequel which would earn Sigourney Weaver countless deserved accolades, and even an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Not many female movie heroines can say that. Overall, the blend of great writing, first-rate performances, amazingly haunting visuals, and a relentless sense of dread and terror that slowly torments your mind and your nerves are what I believe to be the reason ALIEN is a true classic.
Rocky (1976)
Iconic and great movie!!
What can I say that hasn't already been said about Rocky. Rocky is one of my all time favorite films and that's not just talking about Stallone's filmography. Sylvester Stallone (Rambo Franchise, Cobra) was born for this role, Sly is excellent in this role and portrays the southpaw boxer from an Italian neighborhood in Philadelphia perfectly. Carl Weathers (Predator, Happy Gilmore) is fantastic as Apollo Creed, and I liked that he wasn't a generic bad guy and was just a guy that really loved doing the sport despite being rich and everything. Burgess Meredith (Batman the Movie, GI Joe the Movie) is fantastic as Mickey and pulls off the whole instructor you don't want to piss off character perfectly. Burt Young (Chinatown, Blood Beach) plays Paulie and is great in the role of sore loser. Talia Shire (The Godfather Franchise, Windows) plays Adrian, Rocky's love interest, she was great as well and I liked how she was shy at first but became less shy towards the end. The final showdown is great, no spoilers but it's fantastic. I love Rocky so much and is one of my favorite Stallone films and films in general.
