This is a human interest story you....Shmuck.
30 July 2018
I don't write reviews unless people have been overly harsh or rated 10 Stars to rubbish. Only one reviewer so far...you be the judge. This is not a horror or mutant flick. Arguably, this might be given a different title. Yet, as the story progresses (digresses?) one might think the title was right on the mark. Blaise and Nessa are two drug addicts with nothing going for them. Two addicts living together and trying to quit are similar to a married couple trying to diet together.....it doesn't work. One can only follow the story if you want to really understand the dilemma these two represent. The path they are on is a dead-end the moment you get the idea. We see these people every day, and yet, we never see them. Watch the movie, feel the helplessness, experience the atmosphere.....then maybe you would label it horror. Cookie

So there's this witch, see !!!
3 June 2016
Warning: Spoilers
So this witch walks into a bar......

Seriously? I didn't get it. Somebody's idea of an original witch story.

I can't spoil what's not there. I will try to generate some interest anyway.

There is the Star with a dead father. Got it. Dad was never around....that's original. Star goes to Dad's old house. Wow....witch appears...actually a middle age girl with bad makeup. Somehow you will have to convince yourself she is a witch.

Anyway some crazy dude appears in the woods with a banjo hot on his trail....no foolin'. He hides a purse in the woods then goes back not being able to find said purse. I'm really scared now.

Crazy dude finds his way to the old house of our Star. From there it all goes down hill. Let's see, there is the hometown sheriff and eventually, three hillbillies (can I use that word nowadays?) show up looking for crazy dude. The witch makes another entrance....not sure why.

Our star has discovered a plan to catch a witch drawn out by his Dad. He and the crazy dude start to build it. If by now you cannot see the plot in this story....don't blame me....I'm just the reviewer.

I know there was suppose to be a clear path through a very vague plot here. Unfortunately, I am not a New Age Witch Story Enthusiast. The director will probably go on to make a great movie someday.....I'll wait.

I gave this movie 4 Stars for all you Horror Geeks like myself who completely disregards a reviewer's warning not to waste your time on this one. Don't say I didn't warn you. Cookie....Q(:-)

Make your own opinion
12 November 2015
The first reviewer has been watching too many 10 star horror movies (is there such a thing?).

Never ever judge a movie by the reviewers....you might miss something that is not a typical B-Movie Horror Flick.

Krampus is just that kind of movie. I have almost every Creature Feature Flick that I can ever hope to download. I have the bore you to death to "where did that come from" movies. Krampus is one such movie.

OK...it is definitely low budget...but what B-movie isn't!!! The acting is a little wooden but presentable for not having one headliner actor at all.

The plot will surprise you...it actually pulls you along. The Creature doesn't act as well as it looks...and it looks great. I wanted more of the Creature....but alas. The ending could have cleaned things up a little better, but it worked.

The creepy little girl thing has been worked over timelessly. Yet...big surprise here...I love creepy little girls. And for you tata lovers....The movie has something for you too.

I give all B-movie Horror films a 5 star rating if it absolutely doesn't suck. Try this one for size. Would love to hear how you felt about it. Q(:-}

What? A Naked Lunch Wanna Be?
12 March 2015
Look...I love Horror, Sci-Fi and all the stuff in between. And, Yes, I did like Naked Lunch.

But Pontypool simply didn't make it for me. Everyone has their tastes in movies and I respect that. But nowhere did I experience anything above a six on this one. I was half expecting EVERYONE to be insane by the end of the movie!

This might have even been a good mystery if it had a plot backing it up. I found that it dragged something awful during the first half. Focusing on the plight of one town or the whole world was simply impossible. Again using a full mystery concept would add in here.

I would further a definition of existentialism to a movie like this but I feel it would be an affront to the English language.

If you are like me you will watch this movie anyway. I gratefully jump at movies rated below a three on IMDb just to see how really bad it played out. At any rate....don't watch this with any expectations AT ALL....It will help you get through it.....Q(:-} Cookie

Bloodline (II) (2013)

What? Where? Who? Seriously?
17 September 2014
Bloodline, Aka The Cabin is a once only viewed film. The clichéd horror trail is littered with old movies. Five.....count them .....five teenagers going into the woods to claim rights to the main character's newly found map with.....you guessed it....a cabin. The plot is shaky at best. Early 1800's(?) wooded area leads to a terribly set up battle between a few pioneers and Indians. A Shamen bestows a curse upon the man who shoots him (where did that come from)and hands him an amulet(thanks for shooting me!).

A spacial wormhole brings us to present day where the main character is about to become a priest/deacon/seminarian ????? Said character is joined by best friend...with cousin tagging behind. Best friend is also dragging his main squeeze along with the hero's old girlfriend also in tow. Low and behold they discover an old map....with deed to cabin....and the amulet.

The plot really doesn't emerge unless one has to commit to the question .....is it the Cabin that is cursed or the amulet? How did a Bloodline etch itself into the story? Can't give away any spoilers that aren't there(or maybe THAT is the spoiler???). Anyway.....if you're like me you're going to watch the movie despite anyone else saying "beware". I am not even going to touch on the ending, just be ready with the big "?!?!?!?".......Q(:-}

Never, Ever Judge A Movie By The IMDb Rating
22 April 2014
I am an average Horror/Sci-Fi/Thriller/Creature Feature movie buff. I am 62 and have seen them all including the Asian Creature Features to the Nordic Horrors. I will give anyone their right to an opinion....but.....the rating system on many of the movies on this sight have been skewed by someone having a bad day.

Very few Horror et.al.movies make it to the Oscars. So what...those of us who are fanatics of these films have an odd sense of appreciation for the unbelievable.

The Unborn is a good movie....I like Brooke Adams....I like mad scientists...I like freaky things that squish in the night...I like house wives that are slightly nuts....I like husbands who don't have a clue....I like Lisa Kudrow (did you see her????) Those of you who want to sit back and watch a really good Sci-Fi/Horror will have fun with this one. So skip the ratings and watch the movie. (And don't forget the popcorn.)

Everyone is a Critic
11 March 2014
Whew.....everyone's a critic. If you like scary movies....strange, scary movies.....strange, scary movies with a plot.....strange, scary movies with a plot and fairly good ending.....then get the popcorn and have a good time with this one.

Look.....if I took every movie I have ever seen so seriously I had to dump on it more than enjoy it. Well.....there would be a lot of movies I would never watch. My Soul To Take is a good movie. It keeps you wondering, guessing and a little annoyed you didn't see it coming.

Admittedly, I do scroll through the reviews to get an idea of how people viewed the movie and how they rated it.

I have my own 5 Star system which got this film a 4.5.

If you are new to IMDb.....never, ever take the scoring system to heart. Even a really BAD film based on reviews will perk my interest to watch it and see for myself. For those of you who use IMDb regularly.....this movie didn't earn the 4.7 it got.

I would have said 8 out of 10 personally......but then that is me.

Please don't throw this one away based on critics who "know the price of everything and the value of nothing"....Zonker from his guru days.

......enjoy......Cookie Q(:-}

Watch Only If you're a T&A Fan and NOTHING else
26 February 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Seriously, I watch anything that is labeled a movie.

I watch movies that are already Labeled Dud or Worse.

My favorites are Horror, Science Fiction, Melodrama, Action and more.

With those Disclaimers.....all I will say is that I couldn't finish the movie as it was driving me crazy looking for anything that might have lead to Lizzie Borden having a major part in this. Sorry Horror Fans! I noted that there might be some spoilers in this review....can't add spoilers to a really bad movie.

As noted in the summary line only the dudes (or possibly dudesses) will enjoy the somewhat delightful T&A spectacle.

Trying to say something good about the movie.....um? Bye

Evil Dead (2013)

Just watch the movie......Q(:-}
19 July 2013
This should be a good sample of how an IMDb movie gets so many bad reviews and such a high average vote. I have learned over the years never to trust the ratings on the IMDb site. Kudos to ya if you made it to my review....I am impressed. I went through 16 pages of some pretty bad opinions/reviews. People are getting way too picky for my taste.

Ya know....that is what they all are....opinions. I watched the movie and I loved it. Those of you who will, like me, watch a movie...bad ratings or not....just to see for myself. Good for you....enjoy the movie.

It is not the original Evil Dead. It is a re-make with very few scenes that recreates the OED. It should be viewed as a stand alone movie in its own right. I don't act so how can I say they were bad actors. I have seen the worst and I have seen the best, these kids deserve 3.5 out of 5 in my opinion. The make-up and FX was pretty darn good. I liked the story line and the fact that not everyone is going to like it. That's why they call them opinions.

Lastly...those of you who are into horror....you won't be disappointed. It is a good piece of work and worth the buy. It will take its place on my shelf with all three of Bruce Campbell's ED.

Only if you like special effects......
2 April 2013
1. For Cinematography. 2. For great body parts. 3. For Bruce Dern.

Anything else you can add....please do. I like watching movies. I like Horror, Sci-Fi and the unspecified Weird Stuff. I will watch a movie just because someone put a story (I hope) into film.

With all that being said....I can't say much else for Coffin Baby. The plot or the title got lost somewhere. To contradict myself....there is a plot. But it is so basic it will inevitably put one to sleep. The victim needs something....can't put my finger on it....oh yes, I have no fingers. Don't get me wrong...I love weird, but this is not that kind of movie. The shades of gray are a good touch. But then early on into the movie one realizes that shades of gray and another body is all one is going to get. I can't possibly spoil the movie with this review. You will have to watch and see for yourself. I've seen bad movies. If you're like me...you will sit down and watch it just to say you did it. That will be the end of the story.

Bruce Dern is Bruce Dern...he can't play a bad role. I just like the guy because he creeps me out just being on film. I seem to be the first to review Coffin Baby. Looking forward to jumping back from time to time and see who watches the film and who comments....and what they say. Please don't hesitate to jump in here. Hmmmmmm...finger lickin' good......Q(:-}

Ignore the bad stuff and enjoy the good.
28 March 2013
Every once and a while, I like to go on to IMBp to read the reviews of a particular movie I am about to watch. This was one of them. The question is do you like movies including specific or all genres, low-budget vs million dollar films, black and white vs color, new actors or familiar.....or maybe just to see what might be new? This is one of those movies.

Take ASMD at face value and enjoy or not. The plot is not what you think and I'm not telling. Just the word "Superheroes" brings to mind years of comic books, comic strips, old attempts in film from Adam West and Steve Reeves to new attempts such as the X-Men: The First Class (I mention this one in that it was a good movie as a "stand alone" but nowhere near the beginnings of the original).

All Superheroes Must Die provides us with early on works of film making. All the old Horror genre, that have now become classics would never stand up to the scrutiny of today's critics. Also, if this film you are about to see or have seen was made thirty years ago in grainy black and white, most critics....including us, would rate ASMD with a very different eye.

I like new ideas, I like to be surprised, I enjoy watching a movie for my own pleasure and not to play a critical role. A bad movie simply jumps in front of us and we automatically flinch. The movie "buffs", like me, will attempt to role through the film with hardened fortitude with hope that it gets better. To test yours....try watching "Plaguers" made in 2008.

At any rate, enjoy ASMD, I guarantee you will take away a new idea. ........Q(:-}

A 2013 rip-off of a 2013 Movie
28 January 2013
Sorry Folks but any movie coming out the same year being posted as a same event is most definitely a rip-off.

One should be questioning the movie right at the get go with two twenty something year olds (referred to as "kids") named Hansel and Gretel.

Really? I would have shipped my parents off to Guam just for that alone.

Even if you're into blood and gore, it showed that the make-up dude was "in training" (I used to do triage make-up for the army....so trust me on this one).

I can't write much more without admitting to spoilers....yet...what's to spoil? What a joke.

Look...if you're like me, I just watch a movie for what it is worth, please feel free. The plot works if you're just into lazy horror. If you like to watch a movie for the first time and forget it later. This is a good movie...once and only once. As of this review the real "Hansel and Gretel:Witch Hunters" is now showing in theaters...today is 28 Jan 2013.

Anyway....Enjoy....Q(:-}

If this is your first review...don't read the others...it will spoil it.
13 September 2012
Seriously....who would imagine David Pierce in this role. Look at it this way. If any reviewers go beyond the point of recognizing the actor, it would become an automatic spoiler. Just sayin'....you need to watch this one. If you are anything short of surprised or dumbfounded then you will have missed the point entirely. The problem with reviewing a film like this is that one cannot help but give both the idea and the twist away. I can say, however that David, as in Fraser, is indeed a superb host. I was disappointed that IMDb did not blacklist a number of the reviewers. You will understand AFTER you have seen the movie. I would encourage you to sign up and try to review this one for yourself. It isn't as easy at it seems. Q(:-}

Please....for the sake of Humanity....burn this film!!!!!
11 September 2012
Is there a number below 1? Can a plot ever be as shallow as the one I just saw? I have only myself to blame....other reviewers warned me! Can one use anymore rubber as used on these monsters/zombies/whatever? Is it still possible for actors to be that bad in a 2008 Sci-Fi movie? The women's clothing were throw-aways from the very first Star Trek! Every place they ran...they came to the same corner of the set! Can you be reading this and actually decide to watch and have your eyes burned out and your mind seared forever?

Last warning....the entire film was made in a three room stage.

I'm melting....melting...what a world...what a worllllld...(Poof)

Warning: Spoilers
Seriously? C'mon man. I usually go into a movie expecting only what it delivers...and...I got what it delivered...Zero. Take every reviewer before me and commit their write-ups to heart. I really tried to make it through the movie until one of the characters started smearing the monster (chuckle) crap all over his face. (Definitely a cutout from Predator). The one dude that gave the movie six(?)stars was either joking or was smoking something mighty fine. Not going to repeat prior reviewers comments. They said it for me......Q(:-}

Watch for the dude that got caught in the bear trap doing the 400 meter in Olympic time.

Watch also for Mike Tyson dressed as the Monster....jabs were slightly off.

YOU be the judge....just watch the movie !!!
30 July 2012
Why is it that everyone that sees a title has to evaluate a movie simply by THAT title??? 12-12-12 came out and we got what we expected. This movie needs to be seen for its own right. Apocalyptic???...to a point...yes. Accurate???...show me an apocalyptic movie that was accurate and I will eat my hat (and I have a great number of them). This film was Spooky. It caused me to wonder about some eerie things in both heaven and earth. I was drawn into the direction I can only assume the director/writer wanted me to go. Could it have been better....sure. Any film can be better. But once again I read reviewers who have watched too many movies and have their pre-conceived notions guiding them with every NEW movie they watch. C'mon folks...reviewers are a dime a dozen. I had some seriously eerie fun watching this one. Some of you won't. The cinematography is great as well....grab the popcorn and enjoy.....Q(:-}

Hitchcock would have highly approved.
23 July 2012
Admittedly I was somewhat reserved in my ranking on this one. All the stories had more of Alfred's taste in them (I would assume via the director). I will understate my drooling, obvious prejudice over Charlotte Rampling. Anything she is in makes any movie worthwhile. The shorts themselves were all good standing alone in their own right. Trying to tie the last one together was a little loose. I couldn't be sure if this was the writer or the director's issue. At any rate, the movie, as a whole, was worth the watch. Though, I probably won't view it again anytime soon. Also, because I have been a decades long enthusiast of Hitchcock, I felt that the "hair raising" factor was missing in the presentations. One story in particular had really reworked an old endearing plot....you can decide which. At any rate, if you haven't put the popcorn on yet, do so now. Sit back and enjoy and above all else trust no one.......Q(:-}

A Creature Feature with heart.
23 July 2012
One never is quite sure if a movie should be labeled a Creature Feature if there is no horror in it. Welllll.....I might note here that Horror is only in the eyes of the beholder and that "Scary" is subjective. I watched it and was pleasantly surprised by the content, script and overall presentation. The Creature was GREAT....good effects. Asain films have come a long way from "Mothra". But the movie was about the people. They all gave something to their parts....no overacting....no wooden either. Indeed it was funny in parts, scary through the eyes of a few and sad for the most. This will not go down as a movie one would watch over and over. But let me note that I WILL watch it again in the days ahead. I noticed a question on the board list about buying the English dubbed version or the subtitled. Personally I will go with the dubbed version only because I want to actually "watch" the movie. Anyway...good movie for fun. Get what joy you can from it......Q(:-}

5.4 Stars Overall !?!?!.....C'mon people....Seriously?
22 July 2012
This was a great movie in all aspects. I only give a 10 when I know we will watch it again....and we will. Jennifer Lopez and Jim Caviezel are just so matched for their roles. Jennifer is hard...as nails. Her body is toned to match her ferocity. You gotta admire her character. Jim Caviezel simply captivates one as a person who could command any role he wanted to. The man is amazing, especially since he seems to have very limited emotional variations no matter what character he opts to play. They story is so believable that is causes one to go back and rev up the popcorn to watch it again. One thing that I might mention (as I so often have) is that it isn't a great idea to read the reviewers BEFORE watching the movie. One tends to impose other peoples impressions into the film. Therefore, one is not watching it for the joy of the show, but rather, to critique it based on others viewpoints. Bad idea especially for a great movie hopefully you are about to watch. Role the projector, Sam.....Q(:-}

Watch it for yourself....if for no other reason
22 July 2012
Hmmm....I wondered about how I felt about this one. I don't believe the horror was found in the Zombies. Rather, the horror and believability was in the situation of the survivors. Sure....the ducking, weaving and bludgeoning of said Zombies were all in a day's work. But, the scary part was being in the shoes of the survivor's. One could easily picture the disparity of those that are on the run. But one could also feel the controversy of their plight as well. The pseudo-heroes are not where they want to be yet forced into a community with some pretty strange ideas of survival. The ending provides plenty to think about. The question I always ask myself when doing a review is, will I ever watch this again. Maybe....after I have seen about another 500 horror movies with zombies. Yet YOU might say, "I gotta see that one again"....bravo. Scary to some....thought provoking to others...YOU choose. ......Q(:-}

Still a very good Western Movie....get over it people.
22 July 2012
Critic...a person who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing. I don't know who said that, but I like it. I am writing this more for my wife than myself as she is a die-hard Western Movie Fan. C'mon...it's a movie. Maybe somewhat inaccurate in the historical part, but yet I have found history gets re-written every day. We just enjoyed the movie. Enjoyed some younger faces of older actors. Surprizing appearance by at least one, that being Jim Caviezel as the younger Earp brother. We both liked the down-to-earth life experiences we saw in the Earp families that were forced (or lead) throughout the country for a better life. Each brother had their story if one looked for it. Let me mention just one thing about historical accuracy. The only historical book or reference I have come to rely on is the Bible. So I suppose that automatically makes me a critic of American History. Damn straight....glad you caught it. Grab the popcorn...enjoy the movie.......Q(:-}

An excellent movie by all standards.
22 July 2012
Most of the reviewers have already stated the premise of the movie and all its details (and well done I might add). I think my only comment is phrased "When Worlds Collide". The work put into the Amish community...its faith, ideals, work ethic and implied fears was outstanding to say the least. Harrison Ford is simply a very good actor...it is always a pleasure to watch him work so effortlessly (or so it seems) in playing a character. But it was the different backgrounds of societies that caused me to enjoy this movie so much. Both cultures are forced to come together. Each one had to search out the moralities, prejudices and actions of the other. The Director obviously did his work and it showed. I suppose some will disapprove of the odds of the scenario. But, Hey, it's a movie. Get over it already. For those of you reading this before watching the film...enjoy, enjoy and enjoy.........Q(:-}

20 July 2012
If you are reading this AFTER the movie, then do like me and don't go down any tunnels for a while. If you are reading this BEFORE seeing the movie, then go ahead, take a stroll through the next dark tunnel you come across. Just do it before watching the movie.

Trust the reviewers who have given this 8 or above Stars. They all have good write-ups. My end? I always take a movie at face value. Sometimes a famous actor/actress will lure me in or an exemplary director. Usually, especially if it is horror, I just grab the popcorn, sit back and take it all in. If I like it...I do...or I don't. Either way, it is my call. This is a horror movie that, I think, has everything to offer, but not always what one expects. Now THAT is Horror. I will note here that I could never place any of the actors...acting!!! They all seemed very real in their situations and emotions. That is what I believe made Absentia so Creepy. I expected a re-make....not a copy. Shoot the Director
20 July 2012
This Movie is a sad statement for the Director. So far....and I am 60...any re-make of a film, presented one with a new director's insight on an existing film. NOT an actual copy. C'mon....seriously. This is not a spoiler issue, simply a warning. Anyone who has seen the German version has seen the movie and I do mean "has seen the movie". The most outstanding difference is that they changed the name of the dog from Rolfi to Lucky (definitely sick considering). No I didn't watch the whole thing. Maybe a will a year later, but after the first 15 minutes, I simply couldn't believe what I was watching. And no I am definitely not going to buy the original (the U.S.A version anyway), what a waste of money. Sorry for the rant...I like to watch a movie and any re-makes back to back just for the comparison. Buy one or the other but definitely not both. Thanks for listening.....Q(:-}

A good movie for Dark Horror
19 July 2012
Look.....not everyone is going to like every Horror flick. I liked it and my demands are simple. Just watch the movie and enjoy it for what YOU get out of it. I read reviews only to see how others handled it AFTER they watched it. It is a very viewable and entertaining movie if you are not a critic. The build-up is good. The suspense is as you allow it. Don't try to figure out the characters or the plot...it will reveal itself as it goes along. If your out for Blood...you might not enjoy this. If you are looking for nudity...again you will be disappointed. Rather...take The Final as a Horrorfest Special...they have been pretty "on spot" in the past and I was not disappointed. Trust me....enjoy this one "and be afraid...be very afraid"....Q(:-}
