Max’s “Love & Death” revived 1970s Texas suburbia through the direction of the show’s costume designer, Audrey Fisher, and production designer, Suzuki Ingerslev.
The limited series tells the true story of the murder of Betty Gore (Lily Rabe) by Candy Montgomery (Elizabeth Olsen) after Betty discovered that Candy was having an affair with her husband, Allan Gore (Jesse Plemons). The story made headlines through Candy’s sensational trial.
The designers sourced products from all over the country and enlisted help from costume warehouses, rag houses, thrift stores, antique shops, tile manufacturers, wallpaper printers and Facebook Marketplace.
Here, Ingerslev and Fisher break down some of the looks for Variety.
Ingerslev: I glorified it a little bit without making it too precious. Our point of storytelling is to make sure that people know what period they’re in. There are key elements that are always going to trigger that. You...

“Love & Death” is set in the Dallas suburb of Wylie in the late ’70s, but in order to bring the small town to life for the true crime series, production designer Suzuki Ingerslev found the best locales with old school looks around the Texas capital. “Dallas has gotten so big now that these towns have also grown too, so they’re not these quintessential American towns,” she tells Gold Derby (watch above). “We ended up finding Austin as our home base and we found the best towns out there. It was amazing. Some of the towns were actually stuck in time. It was still a lot of work for us to do, but the bones were there and we could create this kind of world that we wanted to have our characters thriving in.”
That world was a picturesque churchgoing community where everything seems quaint and lovely and “normal” on the surface.

The writer of Sunday’s installment of True Blood, Craig Chester, took EW inside the big Sookie and Bill reunion, Arlene’s sexy, emotional scenes with Keith, the joys of researching Violet’s sex dungeon, and the moment he and showrunner Brian Buckner (aka Bucky) first felt like the series was truly coming to an end.

While we try to figure out why the Emmys exist when incredible actors like "Hannibal's" Mads Mikkelsen and "Orphan Black's" Tatiana Maslany are snubbed, we do want to congratulate this year's few horror nominees, especially "American Horror Story: Coven" with 17 nods.
Below are the horror highlights. For the full rundown of all the talented nominees, visit the official Emmys website, and be sure to watch the live broadcast of the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards on NBC on Monday, August 25th, at 8:00 Pm Et/5:00 Pm Pt.
Also notable, if not quite horror, are "Game of Thrones" with 19 nominations (including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Directing for Neil Marshall, Outstanding Supporting Actor for Peter Dinklage, and Outstanding Supporting Actress for Lena Headey) and "True Detective" with 12 (including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor for both Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey).

Another day, another schedule for the 2012 San Diego Comic-Con. Next up is Day 3 - Saturday, July 14th - which is just about as chock-full of events for the horror crowd as Friday the 13th!
As always, our focus is the horror panels, but included are a few others that we think will be of interest as well. Remember that times and participants are subject to change so keep your eyes on the official Sdcc site for updates. And hopefully they'll provide a fix soon for the Sdcc smartphone app - in years past it's been extremely helpful.
10:00-11:00 Comic-Con How-To: Anatomy of a Fight Scene, Part One— Stories are about conflict, and there is no purer form of conflict than a good ol' fisticuffs-style brawl-or sword fight, laser battle, western shootout, or even two chicks pulling each other's hair. I’d romance you into your scoop for the week, but it’s too hot outside. No time for foreplay. Instead, read this and then go get yourself to a pool, stat! And send me a question if you’re so inclined: spoilerroom@ew.com or @EWSandraG on Twitter.
‘Damages’: The End Is Here
We’re just a stone’s throw away from the premiere of a brand-spankin’ new season of Damages. And what better way to celebrate the upcoming July 11 premiere than with fresh scoop from last night’s premiere party.

When penning the fifth season of True Blood, the frightening yet disarmingly funny vampire drama that returns to HBO this Sunday, creator Alan Ball found inspiration (in all places!) by watching the scary-in-their-own-right presidential primaries.
“My first instinct about going into religion and politics was from watching Michele Bachmann, who thinks she has a direct line to God.” Ball told EW. “What would happen if she became president? A lot of right-wingers would like to see a theocracy in America. From there we thought, ‘What would a vampire theocracy be and how would you justify it? What kind of impact would it have on humans?...

As Dread Central's resident awards show junkie, I'm happy to report that while horror didn't make a super strong showing in this year's Emmy Awards nominations, it did make a respectable one. Whether interpreted as a performer who capitalizes in shock or an innovative force in pop music, Lady Gaga is both a pop culture phenomena and enigma who several great artistic minds have come together to give their take on. The art below comes from the likes of Academy Award winner Tim Chappel, graphic novelist Tim Hensley, True Blood production designer Suzuki Ingerslev, and comic book legend Jim Lee, who said: “My goal was to showcase what made Lady Gaga so creatively dynamic—from her music to her costumes to her hair to her flair for theatrical performances—and interpret her as a thoroughly modern and contemporary superhero. Part otherworldly, part vixen, part Lady Darque, my take on Lady Gaga showcases the eclectic elements which define her talent and style.”...

We all know that waiting sucks, and it is especially certain for True Blood fans. Well, if you are a fan of the series then HBO is trying to help you out by giving you some behind the scene teasers from Season 4. Check out the clip below courtesy of HBO and read the details about the upcoming scene below.
Luna's House is a new location this season. When looking for a house, Production Designer Suzuki Ingerslev tried to find something that felt like it was in the middle of Louisiana, with lots of greenery around it. As far as the inside goes, the approach was more character-driven: "She's a teacher with not a lot of money, but she's still a young woman, so we wanted it to be chic. It has a little bit of flair that shows parts of her culture - Mexican-chic integrated with her American-Indian side.

Everything looks better in the King of Mississippi’s mansion, including Eric, who donned this cashmere V-neck J. Crew sweater in last night’s episode. (Yeah, I asked HBO.) Now I would say my appreciation for this look was enhanced by my extreme dislike of his hair in the Viking flashback, but we saw the sweater first and I immediately swooned. Is this the hottest Eric has ever looked? If not, what ensemble topped it?

It’s been a month since we were introduced to Coot, the biker who helped abduct Bill for the King of Mississippi, played by Grant Bowler. But that was definitely a memorable first impression — for everyone. “When you get an audition scene where you’ve got a silver chain wrapped around Bill Compton’s neck and you’re feeding off him and howling, you kinda go, I think I’m a werewolf addicted to V,” Bowler says. “That was a love scene. It took all day to shoot, and Stephen Moyer and I laughed so hard in the back of...

Spoiler Alert! If you haven’t watched last night’s True Blood and intend to, stop reading here. Ken Tucker’s got your review of the episode. We just want to talk about that sex scene. We’ve witnessed — and rewound — some sexy hookups on this show (and, in fact, we’ve gone as far as to rank them), but I don’t think Bill’s angry tryst with Lorena qualifies. (Watch it below.) She had once again taken away his freedom, home, and humanity, and essentially forced him to leave Sookie to save Sookie’s life, and he was consumed with hate.
