As we’ve mentioned before in this series, horror threequels, or from any movie genre in fact, are notoriously hard to nail, in terms of quality. So, I won’t dwell for too long about which part threes have historically worked, and which should be pinned to the wall to rot like one of the Creeper’s victims. However, as we all know, dollar signs in the eyes of studio execs can be a dangerous thing, and if there’s a franchise primed and ready to be milked for all it’s worth, just one last time, those suits will make it happen. For better, or worse. Which, my dear fellow gore-hounds, brings us nicely around to a franchise that had much potential for multiple installments; Jeepers Creepers. And, yeah, I know what the title sounds like with my broad Northern England accent, so suck it up, haters. The first movie was a pleasant surprise,...

Halloween 2017 may belong to Jigsaw, or so Lionsgate would have you believe, but there’s another big-name horror flick ready to swoop into theaters.
Its name? Leatherface, a prequel movie coming by way of Julian Maury and Alexandre Bustillo. Initially released via DirecTV late last month, it’s fair to say that their Texas Chainsaw origin story hasn’t fared particularly well with critics – so far, at least – with our own Matt Donato labeling the spinoff a disappointment.
Nevertheless, with only two days standing between now and Leatherface‘s theatrical debut, the folks at Dread Central have conjured up two terrifying, blood-soaked stills in which our hapless cast begin to get acquainted with the demented Sawyer family. And as if that wasn’t enough, there’s also a nerve-racking clip to peruse. However, the question remains: Who will survive and, dare we say it, what will be left of them?...

Contentious horror threequel Jeepers Creepers 3 is coming to TV a lot sooner than you think, thanks to Syfy’s ongoing 31 Days of Halloween event.

Since Jeepers Creepers 3 was first hatched, Salva’s follow-up has become the cinematic equivalent of a hot potato. Major theaters chains quickly distanced themselves from the project, restricting Jeepers Creepers 3 to one-night-only screenings back in September.
Of course, as I’m sure you’re well aware, Victor Salva’s criminal record is the sole source of controversy, given the filmmaker was convicted for sexual misconduct with a minor more than 10 years ago. His victim, Nathan Forrest Winters, has since issued...

From Jigsaw to Leatherface to Amityville: The Awakening, this Halloween season will soon present horror fans with an embarrassment of riches as theaters across the globe begin hosting all sorts of cinematic ghosts and ghouls.
But if there’s one movie that was quietly shunned by distributors, it’s Jeepers Creepers 3 (for good reason, too, but more on that later). Yes, after years spent languishing on the brink of development, Victor Salva’s threequel faced another uphill battle when many of America’s major theater chains dropped it like a hot potato. Only a small handful of companies stood firm, leading to an exclusive one-night-only screening via Regal Theaters.
Such pent-up demand led to Jeepers Creepers 3 securing a second theatrical showing (October 4th), but other than that, the film’s distribution is about as limited as they come. Leave it to Syfy, then, to step in and secure JC3‘s TV premiere.

*before going into the review, let’s get the obvious out of the way: we at Age of the Nerd would like to take a moment to say we are fully aware of Victor Salva’s criminal history and the moral dilemma that is presented when discussing or financially supporting his movies.
The horror landscape has changed rather drastically in the sixteen years since controversy magnet Victor Salva first introduced slasher-starved audiences to “the Creeper” (Jonathan Breck) and his taste for body parts in the ‘Jeepers Creepers‘ franchise. Since then, there’s been the rise of the torture porn sub-genre and filmmakers like Eli Roth and Rob Zombie, the supernatural found footage genre, an obnoxious onslaught of inferior remakes (fingers shall be pointed specifically at The Wicker Man, When a Stranger Calls and Black Christmas) and a needed return to form thanks to filmmakers like James Wan, David Sandberg and Jennifer Kent.

A mention of child molestation in “Jeepers Creepers 3” is drawing revulsion because the film’s writer and director, Victor Salva, was convicted of child molestation in 1988. The 59-year-old filmmaker was convicted in the molestation of Nathan Forrest Winters, an actor in his film “Clownhouse,” who was 12 at the time. Salva was also convicted of videotaping the sex act and of possessing commercial videotapes and child porn magazines. He served 15 months out of his three-year sentence. According to IndieWire, the third installment of the “Jeepers Creepers” franchise does not depict any child molestation, but does include a scene in which.

I was recently asked to review Jeepers Creeper 3, the long-awaited third entry in the franchise. But, mysteriously for a horror film being released around Halloween, I just couldn’t find a screening. I looked high and low for one, but for some weird reason the studio seemed to be keeping a very tight lid on things. Could the film really be that bad? Were they trying to bury it? Was it simply not finished?
Maybe it’s because the director, Victor Salva, is a convicted pedophile who molested a twelve-year-old boy on the set of his film Clownhouse (*shudder*) and was caught in possession of child porn, which led to him being sentenced to three years in prison (of which he only served 15 months). And now that word has (once again) gotten out about this, screenings of Jeepers Creepers 3 are being threatened with demonstrations and boycotts.
Yeah. It’s probably that.

It’s going on 17 years since the original Jeepers Creepers took flight, when film fans were introduced to an all-new and downright terrifying horror icon in the form of The Creeper.
Initially conceived by series creator Victor Salva, The Creeper is a winged demon that feasts on human flesh every 23rd spring, and thanks to the recent launch of Jeepers Creepers 3, there’s another harvest on the cards. But while reflecting on the breakout success of Salva’s 2001 thriller, Creeper actor Jonathan Breck discussed the franchise’s lasting legacy in an exhaustive interview with IGN.
It’s a legacy that has undoubtedly been tainted by Victor Salva’s dubious past, after the contentious filmmaker served 15 months in state prison for sexual misconduct with a minor. The Creeper appears every twenty-three years. This time, Jeepers Creepers III takes place between the previous two films: Jeepers Creepers (2001) and Jeepers Creepers II (2003). Unbelievably, it has been fourteen years since the first sequel. This time, the Creeper (Jonathan Breck) is attacking an entire town, while a Sergeant (Brandon Smith) tries to end the curse once and for all. On September 26th, the film will have a one day theatrical showing, across the United States. Now, a movie clip is available for the film and it is self-titled "Lift Off." The clip shows more of the Creeper. He pulls up in a familiar van, at night. Meanwhile, police officials are trying to stop his latest massacre. They are outmatched as the Creeper descends from above. The film has received a restricted rating. Jeepers Creepers III has a 100 minute runtime. And, the film will be in theatres, thanks to Screen Medial Films and Fathom Events.

Tagline: "Third Time's the Charm." Townsfolk are on the hunt for the creeper, in Jeepers Creepers III. This third film, in the series, turns the tables on the monster. And, Jeepers Creepers III is slated for a one night theatrical showing, later this month (Sept. 26th). Screen Media Films is hosting the launch. As well, this third film will take place between the two previous films' timeline: Jeepers Creepers (2001) and Jeepers Creepers II (2003). Actor Jonathan Breck returns to play the Creeper. Now, a full length trailer is available for this controversial title. In the story, Sergeant Tubbs (Brandon Smith) teams up with local police to track down a relentless killer. Appearing every 23 years, local townsfolk will make sure this is the last appearance of this grim-faced monster. United States' horror fans can check their local listings, for show times. Some of the difficulties Jeepers Creepers III has undergone, to reach theatres, has been discussed here: Jeepers Creepers III Production Challenges. Another interesting tidbit, the film has utilized at least three names and possibly more. Originally, this film was titled Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral, then the simpler Jeepers Creepers 3 and now Jeepers Creepers 3: Ravenous. The film's title continues to morph as it nears its one night theatrical run, this September. The film will show via Screen Media Films. And now, a television spot is available for the film. In the teaser, the Creeper (Jonathan Breck) is targeting an entire town. The locals band together to fight back. But, as the Creeper picks off victims one by one, there is no real way to stop him. All you can do is run! Jeepers Creepers III will show in at least three theatres, in the Los Angeles area. Fans of horror...

"What happened here, happened before!" Screen Media Films has unveiled a short but effective trailer for the horror sequel Jeepers Creepers III, the newest since Jeepers Creepers II hit theaters way back in 2003. Once again directed by Victor Salva, who made the first two, this one actually takes place between the first and second film. This one is about Sergeant Tubbs assembling a task force hellbent on destroying The Creeper, which is terrorizing a local farming community. The cast includes Brandon Smith, Meg Foster, Gina Philips, Carrie Lazar, Stan Shaw, Joyce Giraud, and Jonathan Breck playing The Creeper. I remember all the rage for the first two, but I'm surprised they've made a sequel now 15 years later. Anyone? Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Victor Salva's Jeepers Creepers III, direct from YouTube: Set between the first and second films, Sgt Davis Tubbs (Brandon Smith) assembles a task force...

‘Jeepers Creepers 3’ Boycott Announced in Response to Writer/Director’s Sexual Misconduct Conviction
“Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral” is tentatively scheduled for release later this year, and a boycott of the upcoming horror film has already been called for. The move has been called for due to the fact that Victor Salva, the film’s writer/director, was convicted of sexual misconduct with a minor in 1988. Annie Swital has started a change.org petition calling on others to actively oppose the film on the grounds that “monsters belong on the screen, not behind the camera.”

I've broached the subject of Jeepers Creepers 3 and Victor Salva here before, first with an op-ed shortly after the project was announced and most recently during a discussion with filmmaker, author and Dread Central West Coast contributor Staci Layne Wilson once production on the film was rumored to be imminent (you can watch our convo above or below). The crux of the issue involves Salva's 1988 criminal conviction on charges of sexually molesting the 12-year-old star of his 1989 debut feature Clownhouse -- for which he served 15 months of a 3 year sentence -- and his continued Hollywood career in spite of that horrendous act. (Salva has directed eight feature films since Clownhouse, including the first two installments of the Jeepers Creepers series.) While Salva has not re-offended, he is still rightly viewed with suspicion when it comes to working with underage actors; still others feel he should never be allowed to direct again.

As Bruce Campbell proved to us all last week when he debunked the previous week’s announcement that Army of Darkness 2 was on its way, news of impending horror sequels should probably always be taken with a grain of salt. Countless sequels have been announced over the years, only to drop off the face of the earth shortly thereafter. It’s just the nature of the game, in a fickle business like the movie-making one.
Back in August we took a look at ten of those sequels that we’re still waiting to see, and today I’ve got ten more for ya. They were all planned, they were all announced, but none of them ever actually happened!

With a new project on the way from Victor Salva called Rosewood Lane, fans have been wondering just where that leaves The Creeper in all this. Fear not, fans. According to director Salva this could be the year we get the beast back.
During an interview with Bloody Disgusting Salva revealed the following about Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral - "MGM has had its share of troubles since the first two 'Jeepers' films came out of United Artists under the lion's umbrella, and that complicated getting 'JC3' (we call it 'Jeepers Threepers') made as well, but…it can be made without MGM. MGM doesn't own the 'Jeepers' franchise; Francis Coppola's Zoetrope owns it. And I think this might actually be the year the film gets made. I hope it is. The third installment has lots of goodies for the 'Jeepers' fans, and they have been so loyal – and so patient!

Well, it looks like we're going to be waiting even longer for Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral. Before the sequel happens, director Victor Salva has another dark road to take us down first.
Salva has officially landed all the funding he needs to begin production on Rosewood Lane, a project we first told you about last year, which at that point had both Ray Wise and Gina Phillips attached to star. No current casting update is available, but we'll be looking.
Should she sign on officially, Phillips will star as a radio therapist who returns home only to find the entire town terrorized and living in fear of the local paperboy, who apparently exhibits some murderous tendencies.
Shooting begins this March in Los Angeles.

Cruz is Blackbeard's Daughter in Pirates 4: Penelope Cruz will apparently be playing the pirate Blackbeard's daughter in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides with Ian McShane playing Blackbeard. It's also being reported Disney was adamant about casting females in the film that have not been artificially enhanced. According to a casting memo actresses auditioning for the film "must have real breasts. Do not submit if you have implants." It also says if there was any doubt as to the authenticity of the ladies they would have to undergo a jiggle test and if not enough was moving you were out. We reported a few months back that writer/director Victor Salva's much anticipated entry into the Creeper saga would not only start production soon but would indeed see a theatrical release. Today we learn from MovieHole that not only will the "Creeper be walking amongst us" (the new title for the film) but it will also be shot in, you guessed it, 3D!...
Below is an interview with Salva.
"It's tentatively titled 'Jeepers Creeper 3: The Creeper Walks Among Us' (formerly Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral), It includes a prologue in the Old West and might bring back several characters from the first two films 20 years later. The script and story will be big on scares and give us plenty more of the traditional Creeper creepiness, with a few more bits thrown in about what it might be and where it came from."

You would think that Jeepers Creepers III: Cathedral would find an easier time pulling together financing. Combined, the first two entries made over $120 million worldwide, yet creator Victor Salva is having a hell of a time getting the third film to fly. Salva tells Dread Central that financing is "just" coming together - something that's been reiterated over the last year. And he says Jonathan Breck and Gina Phillips are still in line to return (the former to reprise his role as the Creeper and the latter to play Trisha Jenner again, now with a son). We have decided that the third film should, like one and two, be different from each other in look and locale," Salva says. "After all, the highway in question 'runs the length of the state.' So you may...

A second sequel to Victor Silva’s Jeepers Creepers has been in development for the last couple of years and now may finally be getting closer to the screen. Ray Wise, an accomplished character actor who can now be seen regularly on the CW’s Reaper, recently spoke with SciFi.com where he revealed he will reprise his role of Jack Taggart, Sr. in Jeepers Creepers III: Cathedral, which Silva will write and direct. "The script for III is all finished, and it looks pretty good," Wise said. "So I'm hoping they'll come up with a start date soon. Taggart will be back, waiting for that creature to come down off the wall, and ... a lot of big surprises. That's all I can say. It's going to be wide open, with some great new characters." Wise hopes that the project will have come together by the time he wraps...
